You can't have the exact number of something so specific.

Applications (at least on Windows, assume Mac as well) know when they are in the background or the foreground. Presumably the EVE client knows when it starts the warp gate animation. Not hard to come up with the stats. |

I do log more in EVE since one week because I got more free time, but still I can do only trading/afk-hauling, so most of this time isn't used for interesting activities... And now it happens frequently that I launch an another game while EVE is still working just because I forgot that I launched it.
When Odyssey was about to be released, I thought that I would use my free time in a better way, so naturally my frustation level is going up.
God bless Valve, there is the summer sales on Steam. Yusef Brion wrote:For the love of god can we please just have the option to turn off the auto scan of every system we jump into? I like the animation, but please just wait for me to ask for the scan. Unless we are going to start making all of our ship functions automatic now?
I'm already alt-tabbing out every time I jump or hitting f10 because I've given up on ever getting the option to make the puke tunnel go away.
All we want are options. Please? Giving us options is not a cop-out. Your jump animation makes me sick, so I LEAVE THE GAME instead of watching your animation. Is that your goal? Literally makes you sick, like, gonna vomit? Or are you just another stupid troll? Personally, it makes me physically nauseous and gives me migraine headaches, so yes, it is making people literally sick. Which you would have known if you had even bothered to read a single page of this thread. Next time, please do a little reading before you start calling others "stupid," unless of course you have no qualms about appearing to be so yourself. same here, up to 5 jumps, i can handle it, it is just an annoyance, but if i need to do more jumps, i start being nauseus.
no headache so far for me tho.
this was clearly stated doing the beta on sisi, i can't understand why they released it like this, or at least they didn't set a checkbox to not use the animation....
and even after that, i can't understand why this was not made in the week following the release (same goes for the sensor overlay).
it's being 2 month since the update, and way more since the first beta, and we are still let here without dev even listening...seriously, i fired devs for less than this! |

Going to say i really enjoy the new flow of play now.
Feels less like an 80s adventure game (walk to the side of the screen and a new one gets loaded up) and more of a sprawling space traveling type game.

Considering that CCPs stated goal with the jump animation was to increase immersion in the game, they kinda missed the target. |

No one is asking for the complete removal of the transition, we just want the OPTION to disable it if we find it affects us adversely (or for those who just plain don't like it). If you like it, great, no one is taking that away from you.

Not exactly "solved;" it is a workaround, I'll grant you that, but one which does present certain hazards while travelling through hostile territory, where even a momentary lapse in situational awareness can cost you a ship or pod. |

Don't go into hostile territories, don't do PVP again anymore. Problem solved.

That is better.
It took years for CCP to correct simple things like rockets or blasters. So I don't expect something like this animation to be corrected before a decade, and the worst thing is that I really begin to think this way as it wouldn't surprise me... |

Really?
The only reason that i can think about insert a turn off option is that CCP, and the amazingdeveloper, knows that more than 90% of ppl turn it off. |

Maybe there is some kind of elitist mentality too, if we take into account the fact that a dev was laughted by his mates because he has a partial motion sickness with the jump animation.

The jumping animation gets old very quickly. Returning after 2-+ years, I immediately felt it was something unnecessary as putting a big rear wing on your 70mph (120km/h) top speed compact car. They brought back ship spinning, even though it lacks the momentum it used to have, I trust they can bring back... well, the nothing animation for jumping.
I'm glad you can turn off the "camera tracking", it's the second thing after Minecraft's "nausea" effect that managed to induce motion sickness in me.
Maybe you can turn it off for AUR 3.99? On a per-character basis of course. Per month*.

Yeah, they did. There were also suggestions to HTFU, buy a "real computer", and "stop whining".
Seriously, though, it is very disappointing that after almost 3 months and a 60-page thread, nobody from CCP realized the need to go into damage control mode. They should. What is most disappointing here is not just the horrible animation, but the hubris and the "there is not old system anymore" posts by devs in charge.
I have unsubscribed one account (can't do it to this one, sadly - it is PLEXed until late 2014). At least 4 friends of mine did the same.

If you unsub due to such a simple thing as a jumping animation I really doubt you'd stay much longer. Not saying that the complaint in itself is without merit (I personally like it but I can understand why it doesn't suit all) but unsubbing is rather drastic. |

I dont think its that drastic tbh. Its a simple and sensible reaction.
A Customer was doing something they enjoyed, someone made a change to it that means the enjoyment is negatively impacted and they now feel physical distress when they perform the activity. So why keep paying ?
Undo that change, remove the problem, the customer starts paying again, IF youre lucky. They may stay away simply because they now cant trust you to NOT do stupid crap like this again..... |

At least 4 friends of mine did the same. 1: It hasn't been close to 3 months. 2: CCP has already responded to the situation by stating that the effect would be modified, but it was going to take a while. 3: Telling you that the code changed and the old system is no longer there is being truthful, not hubris. It's simply not what you wanted to hear. 4: A 60 page thread, while certainly making the issue important enough to work on, does not constitute an emergency. Especially when you consider how many of those pages are simply the same people posting repeatedly.
So yes, it deserves (and is receiving) attention... and you have been told that early on, just don't expect them to drop everything to address the issue. Those of us not affected are delighted that they are going to make your life easier again but, no offense, it simply doesn't affect a large section of the player base.
They'll get to it as soon as the can. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |
