Balaster McNugget wrote:been playing EVE for almost a year now. The new method for warping is the only method I know of. But I can confidently say that warp jumping animation is the worst part of the game that I have experienced so far. I play on a pretty powerful laptop - Core I7, 8gig, HD Graphics. And I cannot simply upgrade at this time. Warp drive animations cause a slew of issues for me, every single time I jump - which includes but not limited to: (1) my graphic driver crashes every jump : "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.", (2) background programs crash with windows windows error report - mainly IExporer but sometimes even EVE will crash. (3) after the warp, when it goes to black-screen, my monitor stops getting signal from PC and goes into stand-by mode, which I then need to fiddle around with the input settings just to get my display back.
So ya, I could definitely use a way to disable this feature.
since my last post, and reading thru this thread, what I started doing was open the map & minimizing the game while flying, just to tab back for the next jump. Another thing that helps is kill as many running background tasks as possible. Without clearing my background tasks, just opening the map & minimizing reduces the issue about 50%, but once I cleanup my running process list from 80 down to 60, I can avoid the issue altogether with the map open and game minimized |

Why are you still bumping this? Hasn't it been made clear there is no old system anymore. I don't experience any type of graphical glitch on my computer or any form of nausea while going through the jump animation. I have the same issue. its specially problematic when we are hunting someone and I cannot look away while traveling. Usually after a dozen jumps is enough to make me start feeling bad. Now I play in a much smaller screen ( I know ... pathetic that I asa player need to do that to circunvent some incompentence of someone else (sorry but yes it is incompetence to not give a crap about your costumers experience) ) and that reduces a bit the feeling.
Its really impressive how obnoxious a company can be forcing a feature that does PHYSICAL harm to their costumers and then keep saying they are trying to find ways to increase player retention. "If brute force does not solve your problem..... -áthen you are -ásurely not using enough!" |

CCP isn't going to go back because that would be admitting they made a mistake... We all know CCP doesn't make mistakes.
I'm just surprised they couldn't come up with something better than "there is no old system anymore". What did they do... Destroy all saved files then use a MIB Neuralyzer on their employees so all traces were destroyed? It reminds me of "The dog ate my homework" story used by school children. |

I'm pretty sure telling people to play a different way instead of asking for a change about something has been common for quite a long time here. |

Not you, but I'm really baffled by the frequent CCP dictator dev fanboi whiners itt who somehow imagine the mere presence of an off button will affect their gameplay. It won't. The default state would be visuals on. Someone in CCP just got besotted with the idea of nauseating camera pans before every jump, and intrusive blinky green and red diarrhea in space after every jump. Some people though on their own screens simply would not have to see the gate jump or autoscan barf that was forced into the game. There was no outcry for these things amongst the player base prior to their introduction.
Lots of people that play have ship explosions turned off. More probably have turret and missile effects toggled off. None of those client side graphical choices affect immersion apparently to CCP. Most certainly none of those individual off buttons affect any other player's client at all.
This is all we asking for, an off button that we can toggle off, while the majority of players probably would leave the visuals in their default "on" state. It's really rather simple, and the coding is probably already in-game considering the off buttons for various existing graphical effects. Or they could just have jump toggle-able to wormhole effects ~ CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting-áoff button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals. |

I was specifically talking about telling people to go to W-space. There were three comments from three different people, on three different topics, that made that exact statement that day. |

After a long pause, I just subscribe again for a few months... After all, Eve remains the only choice in the spaceship market, for the moment...
And obviously, this animation remains an issue for me. Many has and will still think that it is over-reacting to criticize it, but this is the kind of small details that can motivate or demotivate a player to stay in this game. I could do a list of most of them (the flashing white ball over some stargates, etc), but I will just UP this topic for the moment.
If one CCP employee read this, here is a link to my old post who try to give few constructive feedback about this animation.
I just hope that one day, CCP will stop being stubborn and just correct the small details. I seriously doubt that they can afford to stay like this forever while new competitors are coming. I wonder how much potential players Eve didn't attract because of that, as this game don't deserve to stay a niche... With the NGE, I'm sorry about the mistake we made. We screwed up and didn't listen to the fans when we should have, and it's not a mistake we're going to make again. - John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment. CCP should do the same... |

To stop being a niche game, it would have to go away from the component making ti a niche game and that would basically mean going away from the core foundation on what the game is built... It's not details like the jump animation that cause it to be a niche game. |
