Older versions worked fine on OS X Panther (WHat im using at work) The latest version unfortantly requires the latest JRE updates which Apple has only released for OSX 10.4 Tiger and therefore cannot work if your running Panther or Jaguar (10.3 earlier basicaally).
It would be really nice if the quickfit had an archive site that had atleast the last version that worked under JRE 4 so that I could play with it at work. (even if it doesnt have hte latest features/fixes it was still better than nothing).
From what I can tell on my machine and on apple's site, os x v10.4.5 is only running JRE 1.4.2 so until apple gets off their asses and updates Java you need to run an older version of quickfit. I have an older working version of quickfit i'll send to mac users (with the author's permission?) if you email me at [email protected].

Originally by: Vendrin Can't seem to use this. Whenever I load it up, my computer will freeze, then move, then freeze, then move, continously till I close it through Ctrl Alt Delete.
Using Win 2000 with over a gig of ram and 2.5 ghz processor.
Recently I had a similar problem where everything froze until I killed QuickFit (after which things were as normal again.)
Then I vaguely remembered something about the latest Java runtime having problems when anti aliasing was turned on in the display settings. I turned it off, and QuickFit worked wonderfully since then.
EVE look much worse, though.
Maybe this might work for you too?

Amazing app, thanks for he effort!
I'm having a problem with Tracking mod's though. They seem to cause my chance to hit to go to 0.0 & the tracking speed to display 4.0E-4. I've had a quick look through but can't see similar prob's from anyone. Any ideas?

This app is DA BOMB. I am sending you ISK the second I can get online. Won't be much because I'm pretty new, but still, thanks for this thing, it rawks my sawks.
Now, question: I am building some spreadsheets to analyze various weapons from different perspectives (damage per second, damage per tw, damage per CPU, etc. etc. ad infinitum) and I sure would love a better way to access game item data than cutting and pasting from Eve's item database web pages or eve-db's web pages. Evidently, there's some sort of cache or something? How would I go about accessing that? Muchas gracias for any info.

Started playing with other weapons than projectiles/missiles for the first time and noticed that weapon cap use is not affected by ammo type.

Great app
Been using for a month or so, but I had to format my comp. Re-installed Java, and then QF, but it just isn't working. Downloaded the versions of Java specified on the site, tried just about every combo. Any ideas? _________________________________________________________

The good news first: Apple has gotten off their asses and updated it. But, you need to enable 1.5 as default, otherwise it will continue to run 1.4.2. Here is how you do it (from the Macosxhints web site)
The update (which is only available on Tiger) installs Java 5 (which is also known as Java 1.5) The default version of Java remains as Java 1.4 even after the update. Thus it should be quite safe to install this update since by default it makes no change to the Java environment. You can change the version of Java to be used by certain Java programs/applets by using the new Java Preferences app, which is found in the Java/J2SE 5.0 folder, within the /Applications/Utilities folder. Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, you should not modify anything (e.g. symbolic links) in the /System area of OS X to change the default to be Java 5.
The bad news: I still can't get quickfit to work properly. It launches but seems to wait forever (spinning blue ball) whenever I try to import the XML skill file or do anything else. Perhaps one of you will have better luck, maybe I should restart my machine and try again.

Something is wrong with the way Quickfit calculates the cargo capacity of the Minmatar Blockade Runner - the Prowler.
Its definitely too high

Edited by: Neckbone on 17/03/2006 13:15:03 Edited by: Neckbone on 17/03/2006 13:14:35 As a new player, I love having this program to explore ship possibilities. However there's either a bug with how QuickFit calculates Shield/Sec recharge rate (which seems like it would be ShieldHP / ShieldRechargeTime) but that's not what QuickFit kicks back.
With a stripped out, empty Rifter, it has 313 shieldhp, and 500 sec recharge, down to 475 from Shield Operation I. So 313hp / 475s =0.659~/s. According to QuickFit, the recharge rate is 1.65/s (approx) in the Maximum Shield Regen field of Ship Stats in the Equipment tab.
If I stick a Medium Extender I & two Small Extender I's, I get 1213 shieldHP (get the exact same in game). If I then throw on three Shield Power Relay I's I end up with 243.2 recharge time (also checks out in game). That's 4.988~/sec. Eyeballing my shields in game, that seems about right. But when I look at QuickFit, the Maximum Shield Regen for that setup is 12.47/s (approx). Kind of a big difference.
018 - [ 26 | 30] Medium Shield Extender I -> Rifter.shieldCapacity : 313.0 => 913.0 019 - [ 1 | 20] Small Shield Extender I -> Rifter.shieldCapacity : 913.0 => 1063.0 020 - [ 1 | 20] Small Shield Extender I -> Rifter.shieldCapacity : 1063.0 => 1213.0 021 - [ 0 | 0] Shield Power Relay I -> Rifter.shieldRechargeRate : 475.0 => 380.0 022 - [ 0 | 0] Shield Power Relay I -> Rifter.rechargeRate : 150.0 => 202.5 023 - [ 0 | 0] Shield Power Relay I -> Rifter.shieldRechargeRate : 380.0 => 304.0 024 - [ 0 | 0] Shield Power Relay I -> Rifter.rechargeRate : 202.5 => 273.38 025 - Shield Power Relay I -> Rifter.shieldRechargeRate : 304.0 => 243.2 026 - Shield Power Relay I -> Rifter.rechargeRate : 273.38 => 369.06
So the changes it's making to my Shield & Cap Recharge look fine. But that "Max Shield Regen" number is WAY off, it would appear.

Edited by: choux alacreme on 17/03/2006 13:33:47 the peak shield recharge rate is within the 33% of the shield try there and you will see that qfit is not far from in game regen. (it's the max recharge not the average recharge :p)

I found a FAQ talking about how shields/cap regen 2.4-2.5x faster at 33%, hence the max regen. I understand it now, thanks!

Hi everyone !
First and foremost, many many thanx for all your support, both with bug reports and donations. It really makes me happy to see such people around this little tool :)
Now, you have a download backup here : http://seleucide.club.fr/index.html This is the same d/l page and same links than the official website.
I have taken all your reports and you can track them down in the 0.99s known bugs list in the QuickFit forums (when it works )
I hope I'll have killed everybugs for the next version. Again, thanx to you all.
Have fun !

Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped. |

All i get is:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: java.lang.StringBuffer.insert(IC)Ljava/lang/AbstractStringBuilder; at eleg.tools.common.Tools.padStringZeroes(Tools.java:100) at eleg.tools.data.ConnexionODBC.retrieveAttributes(ConnexionODBC.java:615) at eleg.tools.app.QuickFit.valueChanged(QuickFit.java:3145)
in errorlog, when i try select a thing from any of the lists, like ship list.

RTFT!
If you had read on page 6 of this thread, you would know that you need the latest JRE and restart your computer after installing it. At least that is what did it for me when I got that error...
