I have some trouble with the damage calculation..
On my Jaguar I get hits in the 100+ area, but the Shipfitter calculates 7,0/13,9/16 (shield/armor/hull) and a total DPS of around 46. Pretty odd.
To check that further I upped the needed skills for a Tempest to 5 (BS skill, related gunnery..) since I can't fly BS yet and tested the calculation again. Using 650mm II autos I got a total DPS of around 160. That somehow can't be right.. *scratch head*
Any idea?

I like the program , but PLEASE let me resize the window! The program has got so many functions and data tha it can barely fit in the tiny default screen-size, and yet I have loads of free space on my screen. ___________________________________________________

Have you tried latest JRE for Mac, and the "Multiplatform" version ? (the one with two JAR file...) then launch "java -jar QuickFit.jar"
I heard some people running it on Mac so I suppose it works.

I know, but the difference is odd anyway. 100 per shot in game and 13 per shot in calculation is a pretty huge difference.
The global DPS seems to be ok. Using rounded numbers: (100*3)/7.5=40DPS + missile damage ~ 46DPS
Still wondering about the Tempest since some people seem to get close to 1k DPS..

Older versions worked fine on OS X Panther (WHat im using at work) The latest version unfortantly requires the latest JRE updates which Apple has only released for OSX 10.4 Tiger and therefore cannot work if your running Panther or Jaguar (10.3 earlier basicaally).
It would be really nice if the quickfit had an archive site that had atleast the last version that worked under JRE 4 so that I could play with it at work. (even if it doesnt have hte latest features/fixes it was still better than nothing).

I have a little problem:
When I try put my ship active there, it says: >You forgot to put your ship's expected skill's. Where should I put that skill? I have loaded skills, and it say's it is succesful.

on the "Stats" tab, when a target ship is selected, the armor hp, sheild hp and their associated resists do not update. Should they? Imho, it would make a lot of sense for those values to update when a new target ship was selected, so long as we retained the ability to manually set values also.

It seems to ignore velocity and signature modifications to missile damage (e.g. shows full torp damage on targets with cruiser sig). And the total damage tacking into account tracking seems to only show the damage from turrets but forgets to add that of missiles.
Also drones seem to have much too high hit percentages.
And mining upgrades got wrong stats (CPU) and dont affect the yield from Mining Lasers.
Still, great work on this program, it is invaluable! Just needs some more kinks worked out.

That is from QuickFit. If I weren't in my mammoth now, I'd have some actual numbers.
Quickfit isn't making the calculations correctly
Base Optimal = 1.2 * 1.2(Sharpshooter 4) * 1.4(Assault Ship 4) = 2.016km (I goofed earlier and forgot AS bonus) Base Falloff = 4 * 1.2(Traj Analy 4) * 1.2(Assault Ship 4) = 5.76km
Optimal with Proton = 2.016 * 1.2(Proton modifier) = 2.4192km Falloff with Proton = 5.76km (ammo mod doesn't affect fallof here)
Optimal with Barrage S = 2.016 * 1(Barrage mod) = 2.016km Falloff with Barrage S = 5.76 * 1.5(Barrage mod) = 8.64km ______________________________________________________ I forget which station container has my memory implants. |

Can't seem to use this. Whenever I load it up, my computer will freeze, then move, then freeze, then move, continously till I close it through Ctrl Alt Delete.
Using Win 2000 with over a gig of ram and 2.5 ghz processor. _____________________________________

Same error. I suspect you are compiling with 1.5. While the settings on the compiler will make the generated *code* understandable to the 1.4 JVM, it can't compensate for the missing items from the 1.5 library.

I'm trying to make a fitting for a Crow. When I fit a Nanofiber Internal Structure I and a Mark I Modified SS Overdrive Injector, neither applies their speed bonuses to the base speed when a 1MN MicroWarpdrive I is fitted.
1MN MicroWarpdrive I -> Crow.maxVelocity : 510.0 m/sec => 3786.75 m/sec
Without:
Nanofiber Internal Structure I -> Crow.maxVelocity : 510.0 m/sec => 534.0 m/sec Mark I Modified SS Overdrive Injector -> Crow.maxVelocity : 534.0 m/sec => 571.2 m/sec
Didn't test with other modules.

A couple of comments though (for 0.99s)....
- Small tractor beam isn't listed
- Removing drones should be as easy as adding them (a quick doubleclick)
- A quick guide on how to use the log analyzer would be nice (including some links to such a guide in the "Options" tab - or even better - in a new "Documentation" tab
- Listing skill requirements for each item/ship/gadget would be very useful (even without automatic consistency checks)
- On Linux (running with the latest JRE) the "Import XML" button needs to be a little bit wider (it only shows "Import XM..."). Is it possible to set button width based on font width metrics?
- Isn't plural of "equipment" called "equipment" and not "equipments"? Not sure.

Hope you find my nitpicking useful (and do tell if you want more of it.) Thanks for your effort!

In the cap cimulation tab, I would like to see a "Reload" option for when you restart the simulation.
Also, the activations costs for hybrid turrets are not being calculated to match the charge. It used the same activation amount no matter what charge I use.

Not working for me. The program opens just fine, and I can import stuff, but then the pointer turns into an hourglass and stays in that form unless I hover it over certain windows. I can expand the menus, but can't for example set active ship or add to favorites, etc. Strange.
