Gripen, if you could comment:
I love your program, but EFT is often criticized for not taking hit quality into account. Though the DPS numbers look correct at optimal, the amount of damage you actually do in game tends to be less than EFT predicts when you are fighting in falloff. (This is pretty important for Minmatar.)
Do you use the well documented Turret Damage formula presented here?
There are a lot of players, especially in this forum, that would have more confidence in your damage graphs if this formula was used.

I found "hit quality theory" to be a misconception. When it was first presented tests used to prove it had insufficient data pool to be accurate. Official tracking guide said nothing about hit quality affecting DPS while this evelopedia article is quite a new to me and I don't know if it can be treated as official even if it was approved by whoever approving those articles.
So cases when you get lower DPS than "classical" formula (used in EFT) predicts might came from: 1) Insufficient test data pool - the lower your accuracy is (due to falloff or tracking) the more damage is dealt with the wrecking shots and as you get one wrecking per one hundred of shots you need to have at least 10000 shots in the test to get accurate results. 2) There was a "last charge" bug which used to reduce DPS because last charge in the clip didn't apply its bonuses to the gun (range bonuses on termor\barrage for example). It was fixed quite recently so the people who were doing their tests some time ago were probably affected by this. 3) Actually, tracking formula was changed recently in the way that there is no damage dealt at optimal +2*falloff while before you used to do about 6% of DPS at that range. This lead to overall reduction of damage in falloff and this change will be reflected in EFT.

Hmm, I could see point 2 throwing off the tests if the people testing it didn't know about it at the time. It's good to know that you've looked into it, though.
I've been thinking about running a test to either put the last nail in the coffin, or show it's conclusively true. Since the gap in damage is large enough (roughly 38% VS 50% in predictions at optimal + falloff), you wouldn't think a sample size smaller than 10,000 would start to show a trend one way or the other? Say, 3 to 5 thousand?
All I need to do is think of something that has a large amount of hitpoints and 0% resists to shoot at, make some predictions, and sit at optimal + falloff and fire ad infinitum.

You need to ask someone who is better at probability math than me but anything less than 5000 shots looks completely wrong to me.
Tracking formula I think currently used in game is: ChanceToHit = TrackingFactor*DistanceFactor, where TrackingFactor = 0.5^((Transversal*Signature_Resolution/(Tracking*Distance*Target_Signature))^2) DistanceFactor = 0.5^((Max(0,Distance-Optimal)/Falloff)^2) -0.03125*Max(0,Distance-Optimal)/Falloff

Edited by: SuiJuris on 13/08/2009 21:10:02 I need someone to confirm this but I think the Crusaders CPU is slightly off. It reports the Crusader as having 126.25 CPU unfitted with all lvl 5's and with my freshly imported character (no CPU implants) but ingame it only has 125 CPU.
Nvm reinstalled EFT and it works now weird, I checked 5 times before I did it to make sure I wasn't missing a +1% cpu implant. --- It's like my mom always said... "I knew I should of drowned that one." |

I've been playing with command ships and armored warfare links.
When I have an armored warfare link - Damage Control: (Reduces the capacitor need of the gang's personal and targeted armor repair systems.)
That bonus does not show up on my guardian with the EOS as SC.
Is this broken? Or the way it is supposed to be?

Just a quick note for an ehancement, could your sort your ship class list alphabetically? I think that would be a helpful change when looking for vessels to fit.
Thanks otherwise I really like your tool. I do question some of the resist %'s if I run across a specific number that doesn't jive w/ Eve I'll let you know.
If your familar w/ Quick fit, it used to show the skill that effected a ship value, if you could add that, it's really handy to understand what skill levels affect what ship attributes.

Download the latest version.
Pulled down the latest(?) 2.10.4 from the main link at the start of the thread about ten minutes ago, and confirming that none of the stealth bombers are giving bonuses to siege missile launchers or torpedoes, they're still showing as working with cruise missiles.

Alright, that's what happened. When I brought over the setups and character information from 2.10.1, I copied the Data folder, too. False alarm! Re-extracted and copied the new data folder again and that has things working properly now.

So, please fix it and make new eft version. If it's already exist, gimme please download link.

EFT V2.10.4 has correct values. It seems to me that you are mixing basic EVE concepts of drone bay size and drone bandwidth. Myrmidon has 150 m3 drone bay, but it can use only 75 m3 worth of drones at once because of bandwidth limitation. This is true both ingame and in EFT. |

I have an interesting problem, or at least it's interesting to me, I'm sure someone here will have a quick and simple explanation for me. I exported one of my ship fittings to EFT and noticed that it was missing an item. I checked the ship I had saved, it was there, it exported to the XML, but EFT dropped it. Huh, glitch I thought, so I went to add it manually and the item wasn't in EFT! Weird, I went to look up the item in the eveonline.com item database, it wasn't there either!
Balmer Series Tracking Disruptor I
It exists in the game, I have one on my ship, they appear on the market. However, they aren't on EFT, and they aren't on the eveonline.com item database.
I don't know if this is a problem with EFT, or with CCPs item database, or if it's an old item that got dropped but some still exist in game, or what. I only post it here because I first noticed it when I realized EFT was missing it. So... anyone know why?

It seems to me that EFT has the very same item but under different name. In EFT it's called "Balmer Series Targeting Inhibitor I".

That's kinda what I figured too, I just found it odd that EFT and the wiki list "Targeting Inhibitor" but in game and several other places it's listed as "Tracking Disruptor", haven't seen another item like that.
Gripen: If this is indeed the case (just the name), would you consider changing EFT to Tracking Disruptor so that fittings will import and export correctly?

It may be just me, but it looks like Core Defence Operational Solidifier rigs don't have an effect on the EFT number for shield efficiency ratings. It's supposed to reduce the cycle time, right? On that note, if it reduces cycle times, capacitor usage should also increase, and that doesn't appear to be reflected.

Two Feature Requests
- Calculate damage type percentages/profiles for a setup (display in firepower hover tooltip). That is, em, kinetic, thermal, and explosive percentages.
- Calculate round per minute usage (per turret/total)
Notable use case for damage profile:
- Right click defense and select the damage profile type of a given loadout
Notable use case for damage ammo consumption rate:- Calculate how much ammo to bring for a given fight based on round per minute usage.
- Display how long you can fire continuously (including reload time) given cargo hold
- Support DISBANDING the Alliance CCP Renamed at the Alliance's Request |

Anyone know where EFT stores the ship setups files in windows 7? I can't find them where I installed the program (program files x-86) nor in the user folders. I've definately got setups because i've been using them :/ (A search for setup and the names of the fittings also revealed nothing)
