Anyone else having problems with packet loss at the following nodes/hostnames? 157.130.60.14 - teliasonera-gw.customer.alter.net 80.91.248.253 - ldn-bb2-link.telia.net 80.91.251.13 - ldn-b4-link.telia.net
And before anyone asks, I've already done the 1500-pass pingplot and submitted it with a petition on the subject. |

Seems alt-tabbing out makes it worse, even if I don't alt-tab out... I manage about an hour or less before a disconnet. So, better, yet worse at the same time.

Seems my connection has finally gotten as bad as others. One thing I'm seeing after 300 passes so far is that 87.237.36.26 is suffering 100% packet loss. Also 83.245.126.202 which is the hop before, is suffering a 10% loss routinely. As you can see, this appears to definitely be on the CCP end of the chain. I'm going to bug report it. Then go play something else

I have just started getting this trouble, keep getting very laggy and disconecting, then geting socket closed, black screens when undocking and client crashes. reinstalling doesnt help, all drivers and such up to date, and I CANT FILE A PETITION.... wich is kind of irritating. I am a UK user and have Tiscali as my ISP wich might not be helping, but this sounds like it is a bigger issue than just the isp traffic shaping. btw this is the error I get when trying to file a petition, any one know how to fix it? (I us elatest version of IE on 64 bit Vista ultimate):

Would just like to add that my socket closed problem is gone. Besides a couple patches being released, the only other changes are:
-updated firmware on my dsl modem -changed dsl connection from PPoA to PPoE
...that is all.
For more enjoyment and greater efficiency, consumption is being standardized.

Same here. I had this problem, then it stopped happening, now it has started again.
But ALWAYS just on one of my PCs, the other stays logged in perfectly fine. So, I know it is NOT a network problem between here and CCPs servers.
In fact, I now make sure that I am always fleeted with an online alt, that way I get a heads up when I have been DC'd (they leave fleet), before I get the socket closed error.

I did the whole bug report thing, including the SiSi log, so I wonder what will come of it.
I mean seriously, before a month ago.... I had not a single problem. Then all of the sudden.... bam....

I've sorted mine out finally.
Did a number of things, including firware update on my router, disabling the "allow this device to be disable to save power" option on a lot of my components, updating motherboard drivers, re-configuring my home networks IPs and routing options.
Oh and moaning at virgin to send me a new modem and to give me the service i've apparently been paying for (gone from 10 to 20mb line now, with no price increase).
So fingers crossed, the problem won't suddenly show up again.

Total f--ing bs. it aint my f---in connection either i run 2 comps off my connection the other comp never drops out. ccp is out of its mind if it thinks its our comps and our connections that is causing the problem. however has anyone noticed that when they log back in the 1k or more players have mysteriously logged off as well? ive already lost close to 550 mill in stuff i had in a hauler when the server had a hiccup and they refused to replace it and that was just a few weeks ago. they said they cant find anything in thier logs- i dont even think they look into these things they just know theres a problem and cant figure out how to fix it.

HI, I've been having a problem in lossing connection and logging into the Eve Server(server status 'unknown'). When I'm online playing EVE online in the Morning I'm connected OK but when on the DOT at 16:00PM I will loss connection to eve online, and won't get the connection back until 23:00 Pm at night. what I've tried so far is to test all my hardware equipment (filters, cables, switch,Modem router, and computers), tried the connection on a different computer, which still did not except connection to eve online, ran Virus program but did not find any virus. I have also changed the port number from 26000 to 3724 in the prefs.ini file, firewall, router, and tested this port was open tryed Eve online connection again and that did not work either. I also cannot see it been a software glitch as both the computers I've tried use different OS, one has Vista Home Premium SP1 installed and the other has windowsXP Home SP3. I have been running tests on my download speeds about 4 times a day, but this did not reveal any problems as I get an avg of around 4.56Mb constant through-out the day.
I then ran a program called PingPlotter to test the different Hops and yes there seems to be a problem with the 6th Hop (213.200.79.130 telecity-redbus-gw1.ip.tiscali) as the ping times is fine (avg 37), but the packet loss is BAD at around 31% with 1500 samples. I find the problem Happens from around 16:00 to 23:00PM GMT and before and after I have no problems connecting, for me I had this problem for the past 5 days.
So at some point from when packets leave my Modem router to the Eve online server there is an issue, I have conntacted my ISP Tiscali on the issue via Email first then phone call but they denied that they were blocking commuication to EVE Server but said they would look into it. They at yet not fixed the issue nor conntacted me about any further investigation into the problem. I do know I'm not the only one with this issue as I see plenty of Threads on the eve, Tiscali,Pipex, and Virgin Forums were others are having the excact same problem.
I have also conntacted Eve Online support team about the problem so maybe Eve Online will conntact Tiscali about this problem as it concerns them aswell in that it is preventing there Customers (you and me) from accessing ther Server.
I know this is a long message but I've tried to clarifiy the situation that has been happening to me Thanks

I think this needs to be addressed as an obvious major issue. This seems to be working its way to a severity level rivaling the gate jump disconnect problem from three patches ago.
I have had the problem starting right after the last major patch, and it has made playing this game hell ever since.
I have a petition ongoing with CCP, and even after sending them detailed ping statistics, traceroutes and route plots, the best they can come up with is that my onboard graphics card drivers are out of date.
Bullcrap.
We need a fix for this ASAP.

Funny thing is, when running two instances of eve (same box of course) they lose connection independently - my mining alt has just shown itself as disconnected to my hauling toon ;). Tztz... please ccp, look into this, it's getting tedious.

Hrm... is this really a network issue?
ccp log server says:

2009.07.18 14:55:40:143In svc.gameui.OnDisconnect 2009.07.18 14:55:40:151Exefile SHUTDOWN connection lost
That was just after warping to a belt - arriving there no asteorids showed up and the ship was unresponsive (checked that by trying to speed up). 30 sec. later the client restarted itself. So what does a techie read from that? What was first, hen (disconnect) or egg (software error closing connection on client side)? Btw, I don't believe in ping statistics to check on network troughput issues.

Im getting the same problem. I played fine for a few days.. then started getting problems. It started right after a storm knocked the ISP out (and power for a good while) it took my ISP 2 days get get everything back up and running, but they did.
It started out as every time i launched Eve my internet connection died completely. I could surf and play any other game without this happening. I fowarded the port on my router for the game and enabled DMZ. that seemed to fix my Eve crashing my internet atleast. NOW I can play for anywhere from 2-6 hours and then boom boom boom, I cant stay connected to Eve for more than a few seconds to do anything. O_o. I also get MASSIVE lag before disconnects.
So BUMP, its not me, its Eve. Please hurry with a fix. I won't play much longer if I can't play as much as i want.
Though I noticed I don't have this issue when i connect this machine directly to the modem. O_o

I've changed the port the client uses to 3724 as per instructions here.
It has mostly solved the issue, it still occurs but at intervals of hours rather than minutes. It may work for you and it may not, I hope it does for all of you with this problem. Just remember it is not the official port and support for additional issues may be limited.
Hopefully if enough people change to this port 3724 CCP will sit up and notice, or at least give us some advice on how to track down where the problem exists if it really isn't their end. Although I strongly suspect that the issue actually exists on some chunk of the main backbone before it goes into CCP's provider's lines making it next to impossible for CCP to find and fix without some serious financial and political clout.

That 3724 is one of the first ideas support always comes up with - linked to the idea of traffic shaping as far as I understood. I'm sorry to say that this didn't do any good in my case (regardless of machine or os used) so I went back to 26000 as it's the official port.

This does not match socket closed issue. It's more likely a problem with your router.

Well, it's in their tracking system for a while now, isn't it? Maybe it repeatedly fell prey to some internal load balancing ;). But ho, that's unfair. They'll get it right one day.
