I've been getting this a lot lately too. I just had it happen 3 times in the last 10 minutes. Last night I was on for a few hours though with no issues but now it's making it near impossible to get anything accomplished x.x

Hey, all, one fix I found (especially for those who find their sockets close due to idle time) is to join a chat room that's very active (ie Help, Eve Radio, etc) and keep that chat tab in view when you aren't doing much talking to others, or you aren't doing much of anything (but want to stay ingame). If the screen has to keep showing new stuff, it should stay open. Be aware, joining but keeping it in the background of another chat that's idle doesn't have the same effect: you need to force the graphics to change.

Yes, I haven't had this problem much but tonight was a new high in frustration. Two accounts same PC. One account fine, the other must have "socket closed" about 20 times in an hour. Was clearing salvage in a WH or I'd have called it a night.
sometimes it stayed up for 5 minutes, other times closed within seconds of logging in.

I've been having this problem recently as well. I just got back into the game this week and this is making it unplayable. I hate being disconnected at the worst times, like when I undock and suddenly I reappear in my capsule! Not good.

Yesterday I was disconnected (fortunately in a station!) with the "Socket Closed" error message, and I've been unable to log in since... it gets to closing the "Apocrypha" splash screen and then just sort of sits there, with an "Eve" tab open on the bar but no actual game.
I can't log on at all. How do I fix this?

Replacing Wifi by a power line or a cable seems to fix the problem for me.
Still connected after one hour docked in station (AFK). |

Having countinuous socket errors since 18:00, usually straight after I log in  . First time I have had a problem such as this.

I'm having this socked closed problem for past two days... i have noticed that it happens when you do something irregular ie: opening market while in flight, or check info on a pilot while in flight... its getting very troublesome i get disconnected all the time couple times an hour...

I get this message especially at night with my cable internet. I have no idea why, but i'm afraid to take my ship into low sec for fear of loosing connection before i warp to next gate.

I also have this problem. It just started for me last week after the extended 3-4 hour downtime they had. What was it, last Thursday, the 24th of Sept? From that day on, I keep getting booted from the game and always, a little window pops up that says that the socket was closed.

Never had the error before, but now it's happening constantly. I can't even stay logged in for more than 5 minutes. Everything else works (I'm even on Vent with no lag).

I never have had a problem staying connected to EVE until today. In fact I used to read this thread and said to myself HAHA I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WHAT ARE THESE GUYS TALKING ABOUT???
But sure enough today and over the past few days, I got disconnected several times. And today it happened 3 or 4 times. Sometimes it says socket closed but most of the time the client just reboots for no reason. Also some people in the same solar system as me crash at the same exact time. (but not all of them, maybe a few)

I'm experiencing the same problem. I have 2 new macs, both with a mac client and a windoze xp/boot camp client, and not one of the four client installations can manage to stay connected.I get drops at any point in time- usually within 10 mins of connecting. I've got a 15mbps up/down fiber conx, with absolutely zero lag on all other systems in the house (gaming pc's and xbox's). I've even disconnected my router and plugged straight into both machines with zero luck.
Eve is currently unplayable. It has been this way for the better part of a week now.

Sometimes I get dropped to the login screen at random. Maybe I activated a jump gate. Maybe I clicked on a market item to see what's available.
Other times I get dropped after 1-3 minutes of being idle. One day over the course of an hour of not having any idle time, I was disconnected 19 times. I gave up and quit playing for the day. This is getting very annoying since it persists off and on this way.
It is happening on two computers with different hardware and windows versions. For completeness, I wiped and reloaded them both. I tried connecting each directly instead of using a router. Problems still persist no matter what on all my accounts. |

Started getting this too.
Oddly when it closes the socket the eve website times out when trying to load a web-page. Then a couple of minutes later the website is accessible again - the same time the eve client finds the server to reconnect to.
So whatever is causing it seems to affect both the game and the website at the same time.
For the record - no other websites time out or have problems loading when the socket closes, only the eve-online one.

If this is not addressed in a timely fashion. I will cancel my subscription. Game is becomming unplayable. 4 socket closures in 1 1/2 hours is not acceptable.

Put me on this fail list... Thought is was just me too. Log into forums and this is the top thread... Now I don't feel so alone..
I take it there are no work arounds?...
(One thing that I do which works sometimes is to have streaming music in the background through winamp or something... used to help... but been getting this more and more lately...even with the constant stream)

Closed Socket - Been booted every 3 minutes for the past hour, yesterday when playing exactly the same.
Sometime I can go day of playing and no problems, thought this had been fixed, very disappointed and fed up of losing fighters/drones/ships to this.

I changed DNS' from my ISP's fail servers (noted after not being able to load a single Youtube video) to OpenDNS and about the same time I've not experienced a single socket closed error for a week straight. Take that as you will, as it's causation I can't really prove either way, but it's something you can try I guess.
