+1 to be able to skip the jump animation.
If I cant do that, make my camera reset to the way it way before I jumped.
While you're fixing that, let me save a camera default, which is applied every time I exit a station as well. |

A few people said this earlier in the thread, so you must be trolling...
Still hoping for a fix!
EDIT - Why not give us an option for a generic fade-to-black transition? |

Good for you, then when the option to switch it off comes - you can leave it on!
All the others that doesnt like that animation for various reasons, can opt to switch it off.

The animation might be thought to be "good eyecandy" but i get a headache from it when jumping 20+ times.
Seriously we need an turn off option. |

Could we get an update ccp - how is it going and what have you intend to do? I totally gone back to only skill training and I'm not going to just make this for much longer. No anger and no bad feelings just want to know what I should do, stay or cancel and maybe come back when and if ccp have made GÇïGÇïa satisfactory (for me!) Solution. Best solution for me would be an option to turn off the animation. Instead you can for my sake insert a blank animation such as black screen. |

I get upset every time I jump through a Gallente gate when you get thrown through a piece of the gate as it doesn't have a continuous aperture to travel through. The continual realignment of the view is also vexing. |

The problem is the forced camera swing. In no other circumstance are you forced out of a ship-centered perspective. It's not really sickening as much as agitating and overly dramatic for something so common.
Unfortunately, perspective is crucial in how this animation plays out. So the camera must be swung. I don't see a solution except to allow us to disable the animation. |

Multiboxer with 12 accounts - Check.
Running all 12 on the same PC - Doubtful, but I'll play along.

The point of this thread (If I'm not mistaken) was:
Quote:The new jump animation introduces too much lag when multi-boxing. is there a way to turn it off? If not, please give us the ability to use the old system again. I'm coming (with proof) to say this is hogwash, can you please explain how I've missed the point of the thread? It is not CCP's fault that you're still playing on a Commodore 64, they even put out a statement stating that the minimum system requirements have increased with this patch, it is not up to them to cater to every Tom, **** or Harry insisting they have the right to play on an antique. --- |

Someone wrote a while back when this animation came out that this was good for immersion because jumping through a 'real' gate at those speeds would cause nausea and headaches etc and if you can't HTFU then you shouldn't be a capsuleer DAMMIT!!111!!!111ELEVENTY.
Errrrrrr I think traveling at those speeds IRL would do a lot more than make me want to puke LOL
Anyways, for some, it's all about the immersion, baby!!!! |

So there were patch updates recently and unfortuantely still no way to turn off the animation. It made me sad. In other news I did 8 jumps this mrning and it was painful, by the time I got to my destination I figured I'd do the 8 jumps back later in the day. A capsuleer can only handle so much
Sudden and forced camera swing (sometimes to the "back" of the gate or is it the front? Who knows?)
Disappearing Ship
Sudden first person tunnel perspective and disorienting animation (why do I literally feel like I'm going "down" a tube when I watch closely)
Choppy reveal of new system (with lowest or pretty low graphical settings)
Awkward and disorienting forced camera swivel to my ship located nowehere near where the exit point should logically be
Then the windshield wiper scan effect and pop up word ballons (which I wasn't interested in looking for, but used to be before the patch)
All of that made getting to a station to sell PI goods pretty exhausting.

Edit - As a clearly devoted multiboxer, I would be right behind this if I thought it were a problem, I just don't think it is, if I can run 12, I'm sure most PC's (bought in the last decade) should run 2-3 fine...Just turn your graphics down on your non-primary accounts like I do.
Wow, someone who's so much into self-promotion/bragging than sense.
Anyone that can run 12 clients on one PC -- and can actually play it and not just show off for screenshots -- doesn't have the typical computer of even an average gamer (e.g., i7+8GB memory system), and thus, can't speak about others needing a "better computer".

That's pure trolling. I fail to see how a simple line stating "I've ran 12 accounts with no problems" is self-promotion, I'm simply giving my feedback on the discussed issue. Also, you'd be surprised how easy it is to run many multiple clients on a pretty standard gaming machine when graphics are turned to Low/None. I wouldn't say 16gb of RAM is an extraordinary amount, many people I know are running on twice this. --- |

I have a fairly recent laptop with a quad core i7, 16GB RAM, and, I believe, GeForce 650M graphics. Even an SSD. Running at the lowest graphics settings, windowed mode, 1280xsomething. No antivirus or other nonsense. Clean machine.
With *one* client running, it is stuttering. Especially when coming out from the sewage tunnel animation. The client seems to stall for about half a second, when absolutely nothing changes (I just see the grey clouds, or whatever). Then the new system loads, with all sorts of **** blinking, and as it is all blinking and swirling, it stalls/stutters again. It does not crash on my machine, it is very playable - but it does not feel smooth, and it clearly pushes the poor machine.
With two clients running, "stuttering" is much worse, and is really annoying. I have not tried running more than 2.
If your computer works fine with 12 clients, good for you. But for the rest of us, a simple option to turn off the shiny will be much appreciated.
By the way, I still remember that during Incarna, people just like you argued that CQ is a-OK, and everyone who is complaining about their melting computer is just a luddite opposed to change. Here we go again.
Dear CCP: can someone blue drop by the thread and let us know when it will be patched? Does not have to look fancy. |

Fair question. And I don't really blame you for not wanting to read the thread from the beginning. It's a bit long.
Before answering your question, let me note that I play on a workstation-grade computer with a professional graphics card. I don't multi-box either. So none of the complaints that you allude to apply to me.
So your question, as I understand it, boils down to: what is the problem?
Mata Hotaki summarized much of what has been said in his post (#587). Here's a quote:
Mata Hotaki wrote: 1. Camera control is taken over by the client. 2. The camera view executes a nausea-inducing arc-and-abrupt-stop movement (main culprit in motion sickness feeling) 3. The "tunnel" animation and the abrupt stop afterwards add to the nauseous feeling 4. These awful effects make both the CPU and GPU run measurably hotter (4-5 degrees, compared to similar activity in Retribution). 5. ...EVE was one of the games that did not give me motion sickness until this last patch. 6. If you like the new animation, good for you. Nobody's trying to take it away from you. Just try to convince me how can choice in this matter be a bad thing.
So again, the problems are not hardware-based. They have to do withe the cognitive effects of the swing/jump/halt animation on some users.
Incidentally, there was ample evidence that this would happen based on SiSi feedback. This was however apparently ignored in the design process. Here's that quote once again:
I hope this helps make sense of the thread. |

I have no idea how this performs with multiple clients but my problem is the new animation. To the ccp dev that asked what is causing the problem, its the crazy zoom that happens in the jump in and out that caused my problems. The camera swing causes them also but the zoom is the main thing. There is no reason why you should be moving people's cameras without their input. If you actually believe that moving them this way was correct why did you put a off switch to the normal tracking camera and not this? It feels exactly the same. |

I wasn't aware of the nausea-inducement and other psychological effects; as an awful sea-goer I can empathise with these particular ailments even though I don't suffer from it due to gameplay. If this is the case, it would not seem unreasonable for CCP to address this issue. Best of luck convincing them to do something about it, you have my vote regarding motion sickness, I have a handful of gamer friends who suffer terribly with it. --- |
