I think our dear Executive Producer, Oveur, might have gone slightly nuts now, at least if you read the headlines in his latest Dev Blog. Nevertheless, it's a Dev Blog that tells you what will be included in Revelations III, and it really is an Expansion filled with some nifty features, and of course the new EVE graphics. Our main focus lately has been to update and upgrade current features, making them even better and more useful, but we also have some new stuff going on. Read all about it in That November Expansion of ours, by Oveur!

Regarding the new graphics engine, Trinity 2 - Will this be a required or optional client feature? I ask this mainly for those with low-spec computers that can't handle newer-spec graphics. It would be a shame if a new graphics engine were to suddenly prevent people from playing EVE because of too-high graphics requirements for current or older computers that can curently run EVE just fine.
I'd appreciate a Dev response, if possible. Thanks! |

Its my understanding that the current engine doesn't take advantage of any features of your graphics card, and is in fact pretty slow in many areas. I think most people should see an actual increase in speed.

My 2 year old system is more then well equiped to play any dx 9 games and so eve's trinity 2 engine will play just fine.
If you have a system older than 2 years I would consider upgrading it.

Hrmm... Basic math skill GO! 4 new ship classes * 4 races = 16 ships
BUT we have a video of Oveur saying 20 new ships will be added to rev 3. So, either one class gets 2 ships per race or I am not wearing enough tinfoil. ------

A few questions. Will we see Trin 2 on the public test servers soon. I am sure many people would like to get ready for the big changes.
Can you put up a beta version of the EVE-API for REV3 so that killboard makers and others can be ready when the changes go live?
More exports from the API would be nice as well. Such as always being able to export the local market that your character is in. Even if its just the station rather than the region.
Only other request would be some utility buttons that we can plunk down. So we can bind particular things to buttons. Like fire all guns, start hardeners etc. Also let us specify default things our ships should do during session changes on the server side. Like starting our tank up, launch drones, etc.

Why make it so that the kill only goes into the log of the person that got the final blow? It should go in the log of every involved party so that we don't have to mess around with evemailing copies of a kill to allies, etc.

Can I get a "Please explain" on: "With this, bandwidth determines the number of drones you can control, allowing the dronebay to be considerably increased on drone ships, accommodating more waves or variety."
Do you mean to say that if my bandwidth is less than someone else, I can release 5 drones and they can release 10?
So combat will now be decided by how good your internet connection is? |

Bandwidth sounds like this really neat feature we already have. The fact that you can only control 5 drones at once is sufficient and it already allows us to have larger bays on drone ships to be used for multiple waves. Why do we need a new attribute to do something that we already have?
This devblog is particularly hard to read and understand. Try not to make every idea sound like the coolest thing on the planet, stylising every single sentence gets annoying. It's annoying to have to decode what each section is actually about because it's written in a funny way and has a funny title.

My understanding is this. With this change they can give you a drone bay big enough to hold 5 heavy drones BUT at the same time using bandwidth limit you to only have 5 mediums out at the same time. This will allow them to give lower level drone boats (like vexor, thorax, arbitrator etc) more room for different drones and for more waves without increasing their dps at the same time. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

Yeah, I just got that a few minutes after posting ^^;. It also means you can't relaunch abandoned drones to control more drones than you can fit in your bay. It's about time that exploit was closed (Note that it is officially not an exploit).

Frankly, I wish they'd find an alternative to drones.
Nothing like five interactive NPCs per ship, sucking up valuable server resources, to cause things to grind to a halt.
I always thought it would be better to make them behave more like module ammo and use a high slot launcher. You lock a target, and launch the drones at the target. When the target is no longer locked/dead/left system, the drones pop. They would obviously have to be alot more expendable, but it would solve the problems of gatecamps with hundreds of drones out.

So let me get this straight, the New BSs are going to be a HAC type BS and a Recon capable of jumping other recons and CVOs like a titan does? Are the Black ops BSs going to get E war bonuses like the other recons as well? I'd love the idea of a scorpion with rook bonuses, but then think about a BS sized Pilgrim. It'd nos/neut another BS dry in 10 seconds. How easy would it be to kill a mothership with 2 of those and say a few other ships? If not, what are it's bonuses going to be? With bandwidth, I assume I'll still be able to deploy 10 fighters with my carrier and DCUs will probably increase bandwith. Will this allow you to control more of a smaller drone? Could - Someone save me from this Sanity. |

Id like to comment about the new kill mail system. I love the idea... but not the implementation.
Its not about stats, its not about k:d. Its about one thing: control.
This feature SHOULD NOT BE FORCED UPON EVERYONE. If you are going to implement it then give us the choice to show that info or not. Give us privacy controls.
What your currently suggesting is just as insideous as corps demanding screenshots of my log in screen to join. I dont care if your Sir Molle himself, I'd still tell you to shove it if you demanded that info. Its called privacy for a reason. Can others see my wallet? can you see who I have LP with? Do you know who my research agents are, NO, NO, and H E LL NO.
Kill stats should be controlled by the player. that simple.

Drones and Bandwidth? Criptic teaser, new drones?! YAY! but what does Bandwidth mean? I can only use Light Drones in my 175m3 Drone Bay? Are we going back to the old system of drones? Good times for those that have been there. An Eve relic if you have or does Bandwidth mean purely about the drone bays size? or that I can only control one type of drone? as different drones would surely use a different frequency of... well... bandwidth? More thoeries if you please?, or a straight answer would be awesome :)
Dual functionality? sounds interesting for certain mods like the Sensor Dampener, but what about my guns? can I put them in defense mode to shoot down incoming warheads? could I have "Defender Drones" for when I give them a "Guard/Defend" option? does everything get dual functions? or just a select few that should/can have them?
The long awaited T2 Battleships, mighty interesting, a Cov-Ops BS that can open small Jump Portals, prehapes some bonus/penalties to the existing Jump Portal Device to accomidate it? allowing certain mass to jump through? (I say Penalties as the Destroyers have an awesome one, there is something about 8 Rails hitting you at 2 seconds RoF that seems... alittle much from a single ship) One can only imagine the possibilities at these little teases.
A Heavy Interdictor? (Im calling it an Ensnareor, see what I did there? ^^) bonuses to tackling? or just going to be a bigger, slower, tougher Interdictor?
More T2 Ewar ships but frigate sized named "The Recon Class" no-ones said Recons have to be cruisers right? nor does it say cruisers in the skill tree for "Recon", good times ahead here :)
More missions, what can I say, we all do it or heard of it and more content in the LP store, fantastic!
Heat and its strategic uses, fantastic addition in Rev 2 and now going in depth, however, "You can thereby create buffers by slapping your favorite named/faction module between two Tech 1s if you like." Does this mean I have to now strategically place where my modules go when fitting the ship at the fittings screen? Great idea if Ive understood it correctly.
Legal boosters? an Empire use, gonna make Empire alot more fun then, bring on the Empire wardecs! now Booster Enhanced! Those Corelum Syndicate guys are sure going to have their work cut out for them :P
Music in Eve? can we really import our favorite tunes into Eve? O please make it so! Curzon Dax, eat your heart out
Killmail overhaul, more meta gaming?... I read great things within :) no more "Im not on the killmail" whines \o/
Corporation registry? Eve Wiki? even more meta gaming greatness! Eve is getting bigger and better in more ways than one.
Total thumbs up, but CCP, take your time! 600 fixes by November? if you cant do it in time, whats the worst that can happen? Im not going to whine when I know Ive got an Ensnareor and Black-Ops ship waiting for me }:] Christmas came early ^^ -

Originally by: Draekas Darkwater If I had to make a total guess about how the drones will work it would be this.
Drones will take different amounts of bandwidth to control at once, and each ship will have a maximum bandwith. 5 drones out at once will still be the max.
Small drones will take up 1 bandwidth, meds 3, and heavies 5. The new drones might have better stats, but use more bandwidth each than the regular ones we have currently. Not sure if Tech 2 will cost more bandwidth than tech 1s.
Example ships. Drake and Domi.
The Drake currently has 25m3 of drone bay. Instead, it will have a bandwidth of 5, and perhaps a drone bay of 50 to 75m3. This still caps out the drake pilot at 5 light drones or one heavy, but now he can hold some spares if they die in combat.
Domi currently has 375m3 of drone bay. Instead, it will have a bandwidth of 25 (or possibly higher to accomodate some of the new drones). This will allow it to control 5 heavies at a time. Its drone bay size may well increase to 500m3 or more, to hold multiple waves of drones, or different damage type ones, logistics, webbers, EW, ect.
Of course, that's a total guess, but it does sound good. =D
And wouldnt just increasing drone bays do the same thing? This bandwidth thing has me worried with no other info.

I think lag might be addressed, at least partially, within the 600 fixes they mention. And even if it isn't, planning to fix 600 bugs, which is freaking HALF of all bugs is extremely good.
I can't wait for further dev blogs which will surely explain many of these new things in detail, and of course, the patch notes ;)

This is either going to be extraordinarily good, or extraordinarily bad.
Anyway, some questions
Is "bandwidth" anything like "drone control points"? Really, it ought to be.
Will "bandwidth" reduce the current total number of heavy drones some ships can fit? I am both worried that the Myrmidon will remain untouched and that the Geddon and Typhoon will be unable to launch drones they desperatly need to be competitive.
Will Carriers and Motherships total drones be reduced? This currently is a large source of lag. And changes are necessary to reduce server strain in, at the very least, a similar manner to the last drone nerf. Will anything else be done to fighter and drone architecture to reduce lag?
On an partially unrelated note. Will Drones ships extra mid/low slot ever be looked at? Drones are pretty much like high slots right now, so ships with large drone bays or "bandwidth" pretty much have extra fitting compared to ships that dont. Add in the extra med and low slots and you start getting problems.
Does "long-range, high versitility" mean that the Rokh and all other t2 snipers are now obsolete? An Amarran battleship with a range bonus, is absolutly and utterly ridiculous due to both the strength of the range bonus and the 250km max lock range. Or will these ships be relegated to using missiles? If not relegated to using missiles, how will you ensure they are versitile and long range without totaly overpowering them and making them super-hacs? Because right now, i am thinking about the Current Apoc or Geddon and giving them a range bonus, them i am pairing them either with themselves to hit to 220km with tachs or a scimitar to hit to 141km with pulses and just laughing at all t1 turret ships ever.
Fehndahl[or however you spell his name] seems to have been doing a right dandy job[logistics ships are pretty good, new Khanid ships are great], but i have my doubts that a tech 2 battleship of any sort can be balanced, especially when considering such descriptors as "long range" and "versitile". Because to me that dreams up things like "lots of turret and missile slots" and "lots of mid and low slots". Then, when you get into working in racial slotting layouts means some whacky things occur, and not in a good way.
Will Tech 2 Black-Ops battleships negate the need for stargates or will at least one ship have to get in as is current? Something that was brought up on our internal forum was changing carriers to not have fighters, but be able to bring friendlies in their bay. While this would be much too large a redesign of carriers{you can change weapon types when alternatives exist, but its pretty rough to remove a ships damage potential, especialy ones with such long training times), it would be very cool if this is what you had planned for Black-ops BS. Ships that worked to easily resupply forces with ships and fittings under combat scenarios while also being able to move pilots around.
Will cruiser sized interdictors have weapons? Please say no. I love interdictors, but...
Tech 2 Ewar Frigates is an awesome awesome idea. There is nothing wrong with this so long as they arent executed like assault frigs.
More booster are awesome... except for the whole "these are unstacking bonuses to your ship and in many instances introduce game breaking mechanics or make currently broken mechanics even worse"
Integrated kill log :*) I really like this. Stravos is dead wrong about why people PvP(in fact you really shouldnt listen to much of anything he says at all)
Will we get another dev blog on the "Big bada boom" section because that sounds hot, really, really hot. If tech 2 battleships and cruiser hulled interdictors werent such a big deal of balance changes this is the section I want to hear about the most.
More documentation is always good. Will these sites/resources be both IGB and Standard browzer compatable?

I dont agree. Why does the archon have another lowslot compared to the thanatos? Why does the nidhogger not know what to tank and have less than both. Complaining that drone ships get free highslots is ludicrous some of us actually use them as a weapon system in and of themselves. Fitting guns on the domi is painfully difficult when trying to put any kind of a tank on it.. so the hybrid bonus is usually wasted. Really i dont see a problem (myrm excluded since it can fit guns AND a full tank). goodluck doing that on a domi.

Based on what I've read from the interview (linked some place earlier in the thread) you are thinking of the wrong type of range. It isn't a weapon range it is a ship range, aka you can go out ratting for a long time without having to run home to drop loot/get ammo as they are expected to have much larger cargo bays.

With the limited type of ships that it will allow. The blog lists a portal for other cov-ops type ships. I think this will be minimally useful other then doing IPB type of activities (that's intelligence preparation of the battle field for the non military types)
Other comments on the blog. I'm a little disappointed about faction warfare being left out, not surprised after an earlier blog or interview or something mentioning that it wouldn't be done if it couldn't be done well in the time they had for the patch.
The new ship classes are going to be great fun. I can't wait to see the prototypes start showing up on the test server. (Got to get the skills all trained up before they go live) Lots of love for the things I like to fly. insert witty sig here. |

No. Look at what a Drake can field now. 5 light drones max, or 2 meds and 1 light.
If you simply increase the drone bay to 50m3, then you could field 5 mediums at once.. a marked increase in dps and utility over what it can currently field.

An electron domi with no damage mods does 900 dps and still fits an LAR and 6 slots of resistance modules[before using rigs], excuse me while bemoan the fact that that not only does it have more DPS than any other short range ship when fitting no damage mods, it also has a huge tank and extra slots.
If you so wish, you can fit the Domi exactly like a myrm, except now you get to use the extra med slot a bit better, and fit a dual 1600 rt, dual lar, injected 7 slot tank. You STILL do more DPS than a 0 dmg mod electron Megathron[656 on the Mega vs 766 on the Domi], AND you get a bigger tank, AND you get an extra mid slot. [setup is 6x Heavy Neutron II[CN antimatter M]/ MWD, web, scram, inject, [free med for ewar, sensor booster, or second web]/LAR,LAR, 1600rt, 1600rt, EANM II, EANM II, DCII]
Yea, excuse the phoon, which with a comparable tank to the 900 DPS domi does 715 dps... but doesnt get an extra slot, and cant downsize its weapons.
Then we have the Istar, which actualy tanks and ganks about as well as a Deimos when leaving 2 med slots and 2 high slots with nothing in them.[No one should have had a question about who was going to win that Deimos/Ishtar fight in the tourney, if only because of slotting and weapon strength, let alone the t2 resist issue]
Now, i dont have a problem with drone ships being good, and i dont have a problem with them doing a lot of DPS while having a stronger than average tank. But when they do more DPS when having a horribly stronger than average tank AND get free med slots to boot, yea, i start having some issues with the balance decisions that caused that to happen.

Interesting blog.
I'm a little worried about the changes to drones, this is going to require a lot of testing for balance as someone allready mentioned.
What I'd like to see is more frequent rebalancing patches. I understand that you introduce new features pre-nerfed but having to wait several months before you revisit the feature and balance it isn't fun.
I'm looking forward to the patch.

Good looking patch, although I gotta add that if more than 75-80 folks crash into each other in a single system, all the cute lovely new T2 stuff is meaningless if you cannot even load the grid.
Having participated VERY recently in some massive fighting in the drone region, it is f'in pitiful to KNOW that the node has been reinforced, and yet grid lock ups, frozen clients and insta trips to the clone vat without ever seeing the battlefield, much less pulling the trigger on the enemy is still the norm rather than the exception.
Hearing FC's have to toss command off because their overview disappears, hearing corp and alliance mates indicate they are back in home systems without seeing the field of play FIRST, all of these bells n' whistles mean less and less to those of us involved in this type of warfare.
This isn't to say "don't do the new stuff"....I've been here too long (4+ years as a player) to say that, but until we get BANDWIDTH to and from the servers a cool new toy is just a nifty bit of graphics. Until these toys can be used SMOOTHLY in the heat of fleet combat, its a luck of the dice and 1 fps and the burning of a massive amount of isk for not much result.

Edited by: Malusonius on 11/09/2007 06:24:54 What I'd really like to see from drones is a "Work Together" command or something like that.
To me, "Assist" means assist the capsuleer, which I guess isn't too bad, but is a little inefficient since the ships weapons are also putting out a large amount of damage (ok not always, but sometimes). I could be reading it completely wrong and it may mean assist a specific drone, but seriously....I'm not fond of how you have to tell all the drones to attack a target if you want them to work together to take something down.
Have like, a drone leader or something and have all the other drones follow it around pwning stuff. =D
A lot of this stuff sounds really good though, but some clarifications would be nice. Can't wait.

OMG. Every post of yours makes me want to vomit. Can you possibly whine about drone ships any more than you currently do?
Bandwidth will simply allow smaller ships to have a larger drone bay (read: frigates, cruisers) while maintaining balance with respect to total DPS available through drones. Example: an Ishkur could now have 100m3 of drone space available, while only able to field a maximum of 5x lights or 4x mediums as it can now.
Ships like the Dominix and other battleships that can currenly field 5x heavies would be unaffected (especially the Dominix, due to it's larger drone bay than 125m3) DPS wise, but you may see ships with smaller drone bays getting buffed (like Caldari ships for instance, you insufferable whiner) so that they will have more drones as options, but still limited with respect to their total DPS output.
I don't see Carrier/MS max number of drones being reduced.
Originally by: Goumindong On an partially unrelated note. Will Drones ships extra mid/low slot ever be looked at? Do you read EVERY new piece of information in context of how it could possibly infringe upon Caldari ships? It's absolutely nauseating. The term 'long ranged' is meant to imply endurance. Not combat range. As in able to operate for extended periods of time on it's own. Large cargo bays, etc. The whining is sickening.
Originally by: Goumindong ed: Will i ever get more than 4000 characters to use to type a message on the forums?
I sure hope not. We have zero hard data on anything. No numbers, nothing on the test server, and already you're freaking out about how overpowered drone ships are and how everything is going to ruin Caldari ship roles. It's like nails on a chalkboard.

Undoubtedly, Oveur has got a great talent of presentation (and therefore enjoys the position of Executive Producer). As nicely the blog reads, it's only marginally informative. We shan't succumb to the honey being rubbed on our lips (local idiom) and wait until they deliver the expansion. No high hopes, despite Oveur tries to excite and enthuse us -- let's wait and then wait some more, since we haven't seen a painless and smooth major expansion yet.
Having said that, I'm muchly looking forward to the Evelopedia -- finaly an official source of information. I'd be more than happy if CCP only would deliver the 'Pedia and the Trinity upgrade. In my opinion, there are plenty of ships in game already...
P.S.: We (Amarr) should get TWO new frigates Just to get even... P.P.S.: Oveur would make a terrific career as a political party spokeperson... in a pink wig A scientist must be an optimist at heart - to have the strength to rally against a chorus of voices saying "it cannot be done". |

Yep. I'm expecting this to hit the Myrm squarely in the face.
For non-drone based ships and for smaller drone based ships, this change will be a large buff, but for ships that already have larger than 125m3 drone bays (Dominix, Ishtar, Typhoon), their specialized utility that they enjoy with their extra drone space will be marginalized slightly by the newly increased flexibility introduced to other non-drone specific ships.
However, ships like the Vexor and Arbitrator, Ishkur, Maulus, etc. with small drone bays will probably be buffed with larger bays, and ships like the Geddon, Abaddon, Raven, Rokh, Scorpion etc. will probably get an increase as well, allowing them more subtle flexibility with their drone bays.
I'm really hoping that the Hype gets a small increase to it's bay as well, so as to allow it to carry some lights, as well as it's current complement of 4x heavies.
I'm expecting this change to be aimed at the Myrmidon specifically, and I'm anticipating that it will have it's maximum drone DPS reduced to that of 4x or even 3x heavy drones max, while seeing an increase to it's overall drone bay space.
I've never cared for the ship myself (no replacement drones for it's 5x heavies) and if it's unable to field 5x heavies in the future, then it's role in PVP will be further reduced with such a large loss of DPS (as it would be currenly if it were limited to 5x mediums).
It's average for PVE, but I really don't see it doing much in PVP that other ships do much better. Haven't died to a Myrm yet.

ive just read through most of the posts here and im shocked!!
do people not read the dev blog completely??? They all find that a great blog, or most of em.
But the exploration fix that was announced for rev 2.2.1 is now coming out at the end of november! Thats the most crappy message a dev can deliver.

The changes look good apart from the multispec change which was suppose to be part of Rev 2.2!
Now we are told this is not until November which quite frankly sucks since this was suppose to be within Rev 2.2 when you changed the way we scan for sig's
Apart from that the other changes look good.

first of all woot \O/
Any stats or info on these ships? I assume they will be only inventable, if so will we get a slight boost on the base success rate of ship invention?
Since atm its very expensive to invent ships and it fails quite alot, therefore I asume these ships are going to be very very expensive.
looking forward to Trinity 2 I hope it works out for you!

Originally by: Nyphur Bandwidth sounds like this really neat feature we already have. The fact that you can only control 5 drones at once is sufficient and it already allows us to have larger bays on drone ships to be used for multiple waves. Why do we need a new attribute to do something that we already have?
I think the benefit of bandwith would be that you could give eg. the Vexor a bigger drone bay and you could keep it from using excessive amounts of heavy drones. Right now it's limited to 3 heavy drones but it wouldn't have any spares. That could be doubled or even tripled but still be limited to having 3 heavy drones in the air instead of 5 as now. At least that's how I imagine what they mean with bandwith for drones.
Originally by: Nyphur Most of the changes look good but can I ask what the need is for even more types of Tech 2 ship, especially the ones listed here? Interdictors are flying coffins, a heavy interdictor would still be a flying coffin, just one that's a bit tougher and costs ten times as much. In a situation where you use interdictors, I don't see a hac-sized one being survivable enough to warrant using it over the current ones. Why make a new ship to fill a very specific role that an existing ship already has filled?
Where did all these ships come from? Where's the storyline behind their development and where are the events leading up to their release? Is this going to be another case of every race inventing the same exact types of ships at the same exact time for absolutely no reason?
Yes, I'm grouchy tonight. I'm sure I'll love the patch --_--;.
Amen to that, would be nice to have that sort of thing, instead of an "act of god" that suddenly introduces several new ships. --- My thoughts on Damps.

So combat will now be decided by how good your internet connection is?
No, it means that your ship will now have a "bandwidth" attribute, the same as "powergrid" or "CPU". No relationship at all to your real-life internet connection. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

I associated "bandwith" with internet connection as well. Seems natural in an online-game, when talking about reducing lag...

Bandwidth is perfectly fine.
Basically look at it like this for an RP justification
Drones have no onboard AI or nav. All of that is controlled remotly from the controlling ship. Bigger drones, due to larger interference from their power cores, and microwarp drives, and more complex data needed to run their navigation computers, targeting systems, and the greater amount of data they return to the control ship require more bandwidth to effectivly communicate.
If you dont have the required bandwidth to talk to the drones, they wont operate, just like if your router runs out of bandwidth your laptop wont get online.

Yea, excuse the phoon, which with a comparable tank to the 900 DPS domi does 715 dps... but doesnt get an extra slot, and cant downsize its weapons.
If you want to restrict the Typhoon to the range, speed, and agility of the Domi, I'm sure you can have the extra damage.
Or you can keep being a ****** and demanding the lot in whatever ship you happened to train.
While the phoon is faster, the Domi actally has just as much range, and similar agilty.

The character sheet kill log will be private to you only like your skills or kill rights are and not public. Garthagk and myself will put together a dev blog explaining it all once we are sure of exactly what the final improvements will be in detail and we are nearer to public testing stage. All we can say currently is what Oveur said which are the most important updates to you, that participants are no longer truncated to 20 and where the NPC lays the final blow, the kill log will be updated for the highest damaging player so killmails are never lost.
The format of the killmail will be unchanged so killboards will not need an update to their current text parsers besides the additional information we may add in which we are looking into and will detail in the blog in a the coming weeks.
There is intention to add in API access for the kill log in the future but it is not part of Kali 3 and will be developed separately to hopefully be added at some future point.
Regarding drone bandwidth, to jump in on Fendahl's feature, this is as many have suggested here, an additional constraint on drones so that the maximum will still be 5 drones as now, but an additional attribute of drone bandwidth will be added, allowing us to remove the necessity to balance ships according to drone bay capacity alone. Many blogs will be incoming over the coming weeks to explain the features in detail as ever.

Will Trinity 2 include a Shader Model 3.0 path? or 2.1 or 2.0?
for example Bioshock has no Shader Model 2.1 path so ATI X850s will not work with that game. A shader model 3 path would suggest a GPU upgrade for me (handy perhaps as my GPU seems to have just gone up in smoke!).
Also will the DX10 engine be included in this release or is that coming later? and would you recommend a Shader Model 3 card for speed/looks reasons over a 2.1 card at this time? Or should we just pop out and get 8800/2900s now?
(BTW Shader Model 2, 2.1 and 3 are all DX9 features last I checked).

Edited by: CCP Fear on 11/09/2007 10:01:26 Just a quick note on the EVELopedia and Corporate Registry.
The evelopedia's content would have some initial content that would be supplied by us. The majority of the content, however, would be input by players and like most other wiki's self managed with moderators and such and so. The exact feature list is in a state of "basic" and once we hammer it out, we will give you a blog about it all.
The corporate registry will be an in-game tool for all corporations that are actively seeking new players to join. Basically, the corporation recruiter, director or CEO can set up an advertisement where they can put some basic information in like where their base of operation is, what type of players they want, and what they do, mining, pvping, pve, jack of all trades etc.
All players will then have access to a search page that they can search for corporations to their likings, set up an interview with the recruiters. There are quite a few filters that corps and players can use. I wish i had pictures for you, but we just passed feature freeze.. and i won't show you my napkin scribbles ;) But there will be alot of blogs coming your way once we get closer to November.

Nice Blog so far and I hope a nice expansion. Thanks to Chronotis for clarifications (specially for drone-bandwith).
BUT: 1) Drones: Will we get a new UI for commanding drones? PLEASE! And please make it possible to undock it from Overview! 2) T2 ships: No special salvaging ship? 3) Heat: Will we get any incentives for using Heat? WhatŚs about Heat for mining etc.? 4) Boosters: Make it easier to distribute them and make the current boosters more useable. The manufacturing process itself is ok, but itŚs quite difficult to get all the needed skills, reactions, BPCs etc and then itŚs very difficult to sell them. 5) Exploration: Multispectral probe fix only in Rev 3? WHY? Please also add the number of found plexes to the results of the multispectral probe. Please also take a look at cost (risk + time) vs reward of exploration. And scanning hours for single plexes is really no fun. So perhaps you should overwork the scanning process once again.
a) WHAT happened to faction warfare? b) Please give us more information to all features as soon as possible, so that we can give comments on it. c) Please release the features (all of them!) to Sisi as soon as possible, so we can test them as much as possible. Only release the patch, when all features are working correctly for 2 weeks on Sisi.

In regards to interdiction based cruisers......
While watching the tourney, I thought a lot about how Eve combat would be different if we didn't have the being called primary/warpout tactic we have today. While scramblers and disruptors do have a role, they have always been best suited for small gang warfare anyway.
I was thinking, what about a truly "mobile" warp inhibitor in these new cruisers. These new cruisers would emit warp disruption fields at a radius of say 40km (or whatever is deemed appropriate) instead the static bubbles we see today. The only difference being they once the ship explodes, the bubble would of course collapse.
This would not be a warp bubble but merely a warp inhibitor, causing targets not to get caught in a bubble, but just unable to warp away. Targets wouldn't get "sucked in" like normal bubbles do.
Thoughts?

additionally, this would make the dominix not so uber against everything, since only heavy drones would be used with bonus.

A generic comment about the new T2 ships (a I suspect some ancillary new module):
as the BPO lottery has been closed the BPO will not be seeded with that method. Putting a limited number on sale in market will be even worse.
So the only metod of production will be invention.
But a probable invention cost for BS of 62 ME datacores and 62 starship engineering datacores, plus 50 millions from the decryptor (I think all the best decriptors will reach the same price of the Gallente model), we are speaking of 150 millions from each attempt (minimum, probably datacore prices will increase too), with a approximated success ratio of 25%.
That is 600 millions for a 5 ship BPC, with a 50% material malus.
A big increase in cost from the basic production cost.
I will get even worse for smaller ships, where the added cost, especially of the decryptors will have a larger impact.
The 4 decryptor needed (on average) to get 1 BPC will cost around 200 millions, so every ship produced will have an added cost of 40 millions, indipendently if it is a frigate or a BS.
Not using a decryptor on smaller ship will reduce this added cost but at the same time will reduce the number of ships produced from 5 to 1, so it will cost around 15 millions in datacores to get a 1 run BPC, still getting a serious increase in the production cost of the ship.
I think that beside a better chance of a successfull invention of the ships, the number of basic runs produced with a small ship BPC should be higher than the number produced with a larger ship BPC as the prices for the used item, in particular decryptors, will be influenced by the return from the more rewarding ships (almost certanly the BS, like today the Hulk set the price for the gallenge decryptors) and will "strangle" small ship production.

Quote: Better kill-mail system
The aim of the review is to overhaul the killmail system, shifting it to a kill log available in the character sheet as a standard table, thus allowing a rich format view while keeping the current classic text format. The main benefit being the kill records are always persisted and won't fill your evemail inbox. All participants will be recorded and shown (no longer truncated at 20), NPC final blows (where NPC fired the death shot) will be shown and the kill log will update the highest damaging player as the recipient of the log update. Rigs and dropped items will be included alongside destroyed items. We hope this delivers.
How about the missing Implants on the pod killmails? Lickspittle said it was a bug a long time ago and the bug was assigned to him afaik.

BPO's my friend, its all about BPO's.
While Im not sure of the long term market affect of NO BPO's, I still think BPO's have a stabalizing effect on the market while invention exists.
Yes, thats why when we had BPOs only cerb "stabilized" at 300mil isk/piece and with crappy and useless invention they are 70mil/piece.
Pretty much given time invention can fill the BPO gap w/o problems.

You spoke too soon. Read the dev post a couple posts after yours. I correctly interpreted their intent. Try to stop failing.
Why would they change the number of heavy drones fielded by the Geddon to less than what it has now? The devs have worked hard to develop the current balance state. I don't see them messing with that in such a direction.
And so what if it did? If you end up not liking the changes then train something else. This isn't WoW. You're not stuck playing a Rogue or whatever. If something is so overpowered, start using it.

No. Increasing the drone bay of the drake to 50 or 75 will allow it to control 3-5 medium drones and 2-3 heavy drones more than current. The bandwidth, as hypothetically presented, would limit that drake to still only using five light drones, only the assortment could be different instead of only having one option in your bay when you undock.
This new change, hypothetically, could allow a drake to carry 5 light ECM drones, 5 warrior IIs and 1 stasis webifier drone if it so chooses (as an example), increasing its versatility but not overbalancing the fundamentals of the ship.
Make sense?

As normal dictors with good setup can kill ships up to cruisers (and here they already have some problems) i guess cruiser dictors will be able to kill up to battleships (also with small problems). Anyways its the typical "griefmobile" and you will understand when you see one that it doesnt need speed to catch targets.

That is 600 millions for a 5 ship BPC, with a 50% material malus.
damn you have high invention costs. i have a alt who also does invention for all races and tbh i dont even expect any of my jobs to be costing around that much even for when i start bs invention. im really looking forward to getting my feet wet on some bs invention. you really should be looking at cutting corners to reduce your costs instead of running straight for pure profit and hoping for the best.
50% of the time im counting for the following costs ship bpc / decryptor / datacores
still making profit.... go figure ---------------------------- BOB 4 LIFE NOT JUST 4 A DAY ----------------------------

Long time since I read about the graphic engine...
What exactly is trinity 2?
Is it the update to the current client for DX9 and XP or is it the engine for Vista/DX10? and will station and ship models aswell as planets(and other objects in space) be updated all at once?

Congratz on a awsome blog.
However, i would like to ask that u rethink on drones mwd speed.
Problem is that, a char with max drones skills (drones navigation5 etc etc) light t2 drones cant catch a orbiting interceptor.
For a BS/cruiser/frig this may not be the end of the world, but for a carrier it is.
Couple days ago i was tackled by a crow, and i could not go anywhere because he was orbiting me at 17km, and even light t2 warriors could not hit him .. finally backup arrived and i got owned.
He was out of webber range, nos didnt work, and drones could not keep up.

And so what if it did? If you end up not liking the changes then train something else. This isn't WoW. You're not stuck playing a Rogue or whatever. If something is so overpowered, start using it.
Uhh, he mentioned nothing about what this would do the these ships, just that balancing no longer had to be done with drone bay alone.

It's coming, but not in Revelations 3. We're currently working on the simple principle of "Improve the factions with the least interesting range of offers first", and right now that's Syndicate, Thukker Tribe, Mordu's Legion, SSoE and ORE with a grand total of zero unique items/ships between them.

LOL. That will never happen. Remember this post when you find out that the Myrm has had it's 'bandwidth' limited so that it can fly only four or maybe three heavy drones at the most, and then get it's drone bay expanded slightly.
The 'bandwidth' concept is custom made to nerf the Myrm. If the devs wanted to make the Myrm a decent drone ship and allow 5x heavies, plus some backup, they would have done it a long time ago.

The last thing the devs are going to do is nerf the Geddon, or any other non-Gallente ship. Or buff any Gallente ship. Just won't happen. Too many whiners.
My predictions for Rev3:
Myrm get's it's bandwidth reduced so it can fly 3-4 heavy drones max, with slight increase in drone space.
Damps get raped, being reduced to near uselessness.
All non-Gallente drone ships get their drone bays increased, but with limiting bandwidth, so that the number/size of drones able to be used remains the same. Big buff for those ships (read: everything but Gallente). I don't see the Ishtar or Dominix getting anything out of this bandwidth change. Maybe the Vexor, but that's it.
I'm looking forward to the recon frigs, killmail changes, and possibly the 'Violator' BSs. Recon BSs will probably suck for anything I'd actually want to do (i.e. PVP).
Dictor cruisers might be funny.
Backup drones for ships in general will make it much harder for smaller ships to kill off larger ones, as you're going to have to kill off wave after wave of small/medium drones.
Ships like the Dominix, Eos, Vexor and Ishtar will lose some of their advantage of flexibility with drones as other ships become more versatile due to increased drone bay size and are able to field different damage types and other specialty drones, just like the drone specific ships.

Greetings All,
Thank you Oveur for such great detail in the blog. I do have to say, though, that this update is rather a disappointment. You started out Revelations so well, with the addition of titles, roles, wallet divisions for corporations, and other much needed corporate facilities, but when it comes to the crunch you have let these advancements slide into oblivion and replaced them with stalwart "ship additions". When can we expect to see publicly available PoS lab slots, when will we be able to direct lab slot incomes to a specific wallet division. These are things that are much needed in the day-to-day running of a corporation. Not more shiny ships that do much the same thing as a well fitted ship already available.

You are wrong. The only ships that will lose advantage will be ship which have more dronbay that they can launch (more than 125m3) I can name only two such ships - Dominix and Ishtar. Imho Vexor and Eos will applaud to such boost.

A list of questions - I would really like to see answers for:
1. Accelarating skill learning in test server: Is this possible - so that everyone can test out bigger ships / mods easily?
2. dual skill training: Is this feature making it to Rev III?
3. what happens to drones = fof - meaning on jam? Previously If I jam a drone ship, then the drones used to act like fof missiles - what happens now - with the assist option?
4. Are you going to implement the ISK for char transfer option in this release? As of now, we gotta pay a 20$ extra - if this can be ISK, training and trading chars would be a more viable option.
5. Are there any improvements coming to the back-end cluster? meaning will you now reassign servers for bigger fights etc. IOW, what are the improvements coming towards fighting the lag enemy?
6. When is the asteroids as exploratory material option coming in?
7. Can you give some love for Caldari in terms of PvP enabling? Make them faster / give them some special high cpu req.<like covert ops> 60km range warp disruptors, may be some more etc. IOW, what is the work that is going in to equalize factions?
8. In a related note, Can you add some bonuses for flying the same race's ship? as of today, a caldari starter char is better of flying amarr ships - could this be changed?
Thanks if you had read till this!

I don't think they will EVER do it. It is still not a great cost for "white" char seller but it decrease alot a number of "grey" char sellers or at least it make live for them and for their buyers much worse.

Caldari are fine as they are. Yes they are not good at solo PVP but they are not bad in PVP at general.

I.e., Are the devs happy with their pvp performance? Do the devs think that their balance of range, DPS, agility and flexibility is balanced in comparison with their competitors? If not, are there plans to change them in any way? (cough cough more turrets please! )

I really think some sort of info on the T2 Battleship BPO is warrented.
I think that BPO's are what give the market a steady supply, they also act as a control on the price.
I never liked even the concept of BPO's untill invention came along. Now the system we have now works great. BPO's are still available as a long term investment for large corps, alliances or investment minded individuals. While invention keeps prices reasonable.
And while I am an advocate of some BPO's I still just really want word one way or the other as to if we are going to see BPO's for these new T2 ships or not. If there are T2 BPO's are they to be distributed via the Research Agent system or some other way ?
If its 100% invention then so be it, but its probably a design decision thats already made.

I dont get it. Shouldnt that be the black-ops battleship?
And how do you make a ship that has the ability to go into deep enemy territory and stay there for extended periods of time more than the current battleships already can? Does it produce its own ammo? Does it mine in order to do so?
Otherwise it just seems like its got a big cargo bay. :/
Originally by: "CCP Oveur" Edit note: Bandwidth referenced here is not in reference to your internet connection. It's to un-nerf specialized drone ships and allow more differentation between ships. There is also specific Drone Region content in this update.
Are you seriously telling me that drone ships are going to get a boost? That the stronger ships in the game, considered by most to be overpowered when not in fleet situations are going to be getting a boost instead of a relative reduction in power?

Originally by: Zoea Will Trinity 2 include a Shader Model 3.0 path? or 2.1 or 2.0?
for example Bioshock has no Shader Model 2.1 path so ATI X850s will not work with that game.
The Trinity 2 engine coming with Rev III uses shader model 3.0. However it also offers the option to turn all shaders off, allowing it to run on more or less the same hardware that is able to run EVE now.
Do not - I repeat - do not buy a Geforce 8 or Radeon 2xxx series card! You will throw money out of the window!
First generation DX10 cards so far have been shown to lose anywhere between 40% and 75% (yes, 75%) fps when switching from DX9 to DX10 modes in the very same games, and this is consistent across just about all existing DX10 supporting games. If you want a graphics card for DX10 graphics, the ones that the industry sells you right now are a total scam and not worth half the money they cost. They are only as fast as advertised in DX9 mode.
Furthermore - or maybe because of that - Microsoft has just thrown DX10 out the window and finalized their DX10.1 standard. Which is incompatible to current DX10 cards. Furthermore, the new DX10.1 cards (slated to be released around the end of the year) are incompatible to current mainboards. So if I was you, I wouldn't be buying any new top-end hardware for the next year - rather get something cheap and easily replaceable. EVE isn't going DX10 for a while yet anyway, so you miss nothing.
By the way, the hardware industry loves Microsoft.

I would imagine that at the time that the bomb is 'fired', it will be moving with the same speed and direction as the bomber. Thus if the bomber is travelling 1km/s 'west' (for want of directional terms in space), then the bomb will travel 'west' at 1km/s, exploding 15 seconds later at 15km from its launch point. Of course, the bomber pilot will not simply have coasted along by the bomb but will have turned around and (hopefully!) be out of bomb range.
Just an estimate, but this seems like a sensible implementation (assuming it fits with the physics engine).
Additionally, it hardly bears saying, but I'm very much looking forward to these changes - seems like a well-balanced set and the 6:1 ratio is sound!

The short answer, is that you don't. When we transition over to Invention, we would accelerate the last blueprint lotteries. It's only fair that the ones that are already scheduled to go out be delivered. But say that we do the transition in Revelations 1.4, we would be accelerating the current schedule by 4 months. After that, Invention - the player driven way to achieve Tech 2 blueprint copies would be the only way to get into Tech 2."

Invention is already screwed three times (cost to invent, time to invent, cost to build) compared to BPO holders. I was really looking forward to a fair and competitive market for something tech 2 worth building...

for example Bioshock has no Shader Model 2.1 path so ATI X850s will not work with that game.

50% of the time im counting for the following costs ship bpc / decryptor / datacores
still making profit.... go figure
I do moduel invention and I am more than happy with it.
I have put out some math why I think that will be the cost. If you have a better invention result average for ship (I have done little test on that, I am basing the 25% figure upon them and what other people report on forum) please post your math as a counter.
Or are you considering the datacores you generate yourself "free"? With that consideration yes, the cost will be 50 million each attempt (the decryptor) or even some teen of thousand if you don't use decryptors (plus the building cost).

You are wrong. The only ships that will lose advantage will be ship which have more dronbay that they can launch (more than 125m3) I can name only two such ships - Dominix and Ishtar. Imho Vexor and Eos will applaud to such boost.
Right, you are wrong. Eos has a larger drone bay than 125m3. I'm sure you don't even play the game and just looked at the base stats. Try the Eos again with Command Ships at 4.
Regardless, you just reinforced my point. The ships that lose out (in theory) are the drone specialized ships.
For all I know, they'll increase the drone ships' capacity to 500m3 or more, but it still doesn't alter the fact that they're adding in flexibility to other ships where before only drone ships enjoyed that particular tactical advantage. Now, theoretically, most ships will have this option.

Lets say you only want these two ships to field medium drones. That means that you can realistically have a maximum drone bay of 75m3. This leaves no room for spares - dedicated heavy drone carriers however do get room for spares. If 50m3 of drone bandwidth is assigned to the above ships, their drone bays can be increased without turning them into heavy drone carriers (Ishtar, Dominix).
The Mymridon and Eos are the ships, if any, to receive a nerf out of this change - I expect the nonIshtar cruiser based drone boats to be boosted quite a bit with this change, as they will be able to carry spares now. This will also allow the Myrmidon to be rebalanced against medium drones. Good thing in my opinion.
I realize that the blog said "number of drones" but I'm betting that this is how things are going to end up, one way or another (perhaps a conversion factor between light/medium/heavy drones).
This is fairly spot on. Expect a dev blog about this from the relevant dev before the patch hits. We're not doing this to try and nerf people.

Very probably not. And a dman good thing. Now their dps will be more on par with the others tier2 BC and fleet command ships.
Huh, so you train for an Eos, with the knowledge of the power it has, and you say, well you shouldn't have that knowledge, you should be nerfed?

Like I said before we aren't doing this just to nerf you. I'm sure you will all agree it stands to reason that having balanced ships is better than having one ship that is far better than all other other ships in it's class.
That's like saying, your co-workers make less money than you do, because you bought yourself in at a good price... but we are sorry now, we are going to make your salary a little lower now... so that you are in balance with your other co-workers... That simply goes beyond my comprehension... normally your co-workers will get up to your salary, not the other way round?

Oooooooookay.
I don't think consummers will stay blind on this one. And softwares develloppers too. Microsoft really don't care, they are dominent. Hardware sellers are happy.
This gen of electronics hardware suck tbh. Nothing is still retrocompatible, and just not because of the hardware. Microsoft, again, just prove their value as total noobs in software devellopement. Result ? People stay with old products. WinXP is fine, thank you.
Back on the topic, I disagree with Tech II being better than Tech I for heat. Tech II is told to be state-of-the-art tech object, they shouldn't be more eager to be heated to death than Tech I or low metalevel stuff. Like I said on another thread, jump on a hammer, no damage is done. Stomp on your last GPU card, damage is done. And both of them can be used for my screen btw. So what the point in having this ?
We allready have tech II better than tech I. Please allow tech II to be rejoined (I'd prefer "beaten in heat") by tech I users. It'll introduce gameplay choices like : "Err, should I go 3000 m/s with my mwd 1 and heat for 6000 for 20s or should I go for 4000 in tech 2, heated 5500 for 20 sec ? 2isk

Well the changes sound great, new drones and drones that do what u tell them omwnw, T2 bs's now didnt he say and black ops bs and a mission running bs in an interview just a few days ago? anyway this dirscription of the npcing bs doesnt realy give anything away, The black ops mini jump bridge could have alot of logistic uses and it sounds cool, wonder what model they will use for this ships. I thought they would bring t2 tier 2 bc's in for rev 3 but it doesnt look like it, ew frigs will be good but god dam annoying if ur jammed by them. And a cruser class dictor, be interesting to see how that works. Lets hope trinity 2 allows decent fleet battles, coz we all hate sitting watching a forzen screen only to find ourselves in a clone bay when it finally unlags.
I look forward to the more detailed patch notes for these features, lets hope they come soon

I seriously think 2 things need to be updated. The market system is still too slow and hard to navigate. Instead of tabs you should use a tree system, (I am multimedia interface designer I know what I'm talking about.)cause seriously the headers dont stand out enough and if you have a lot of tabs open the refresh rate makes scrolling slow and hard to close them off quickly.
Now ... the character/lines restriction in EVE mail is too short. I dont like having to send 2 or 3 messages of the one killmail and also if I want to copy a long conversation for someone to read it wont fit and then you have to copy each individual comment into your mail, I am totally frustrated by this no end. I have to exit the eve client to send the long ones by corp mail and as I am flying in 0.0 now the less exiting the game the better. These are serious game design flaws and I think more important than the totally awesome ships and other things you are adding. AHM

Very interested to see exactly what you mean by the 'drone bandwidth' feature. I'm not totally sure I understand that. Either way - new commands such as assist and the like definitely sound tasty. New ships classes are always a good thing.
And I knew there was a reason I upgraded my system recently. The screenshots that I have seen plus that teaser video of about 6 months back are indeed some gorgeous visuals. Similar to Oveur himself ...
Looking forward with great anticipation to the next set of blogs from the specific developers. _____________________________ Eldo spanked my sig but I can't be bothered changing it just now. |

Sorry, but you seem to have absolutely NO clue. Do you even have a DX10 card? Got a 2600XT and it runs in e.g. Bioshock DX10 as fast as Bioshock DX9. Just the graphics are a bit better. There is absolutly no measurable speed difference (and surely not somewhere between 40-75%)
And DX10.1 is not incompatible, it is completely backwards compatible as previous versions have been (comparable to DX9a vs DX9b). And the thing with the mainboard is just stupid...

meh... I'm not seeing it happen since the hulls are from 2 different tiers.
so I would say that the black ops would occupy the tier1 of battleships, and yes, that means the typhoon and the dominix.
I don't care tho, since the typhoon has that large mouth already, wich means that the ship has space for a mini-portal already
as for the dominix? who knows. I still think the ships will be a bit redesigned in REVIII.
oh btw, can we get screenshots from the ENTIRE line of battleships already? ---

Look this thread has perhaps ****ed me off more than any other content proposal ever. Firstly we just had a major patch nerfing Nos and making Khanhid Mk II and other ships better. Well done but really it is too little too late. Lets look at some of the major problems eve still has today, without adding new content.
Amarr- For gods sake ccp, you have probably ignored the most glaringly obvious problem in your game. The entire amarr ship line apart from a select few ships, are completely nerfed. Lets take Amarr cap usage for lasers, or their damage type, or their cpu issues for instance. Why have those not been fixed?
Drones- Honestly I could live with drones how they are, a little love couldn't hurt, but a complete overhaul of the drone system IS NOT NEEDED. Fixing interface, and bugs with drones is all okay but adding too many new dimensions will ultimately ruin this game.
Lagg- I think every player in eve can agree that they would rather see ccp fix the lagg and bugs in the game instead of adding a new WTFPWNmobile cruiser or adding a thousand new frigates. The fact that trade hubs like jita STILL cause client crashes and 30 minute log in times after numerous complaints proves that throwing content at the game is CCP's way of drawing attention away from the main issue.
Honestly I could sit here all night and type away at what needs to be fixed and why this patch is unnecessary but im going to shorten it up to 1 sentence.

Sounds great, all except for:

Edit note: The 5th ship class is still not confirmed to make it in time and therefore not covered. It's a mini-profession ship and requires resources that we don't have available. It is therefore not an option to say, skip the E-war frigate and do the mini-profession ship instead since they are working on the Need for Speed and fixing the 600 defects.
So much for the exploration vessels I was hoping they would finally put in. You know, the ships with an Astrometrics bonus that are larger than frigates?
Still, great stuff....

Yeah... as others have said; Faction Warfare (and so many other "Revelations" features)?
Seriously, these new features are nice and all but none of them really add that much to the game.
A new batch of ships to play with for a few hours with before coming bored again, thanks... The recently improved sovereignty system didn't really add anything for the majority of EVE players and that's one of the bigger additions I can think of in the past year.
The new graphics engine is a nice touch and I like some of the other things but nothing of any real substance got added here.
A lot of grand statements were made about what new elements Revelations would add to the game but over the entire run of patches little of this content was actually added and now it seems most of it has been pushed far off into some hazy future.
I doubt CCP really cares about us few old dinosaurs that date from the Beta/Castor era but I think everyone can see the sense in adding more content to a game so that your players have more to do.

I dont get it. Shouldnt that be the black-ops battleship?
My guess would be that the black-ops will be designed to penetrate guarded enemy territory to hit specific strategic targets, using the mini jump bridge and cloaks to avoid interdiction.
I would think the violators will be designed to be more of a harrasment (in a military sense, not an EULA-breaking sense) ship, intended to cause trouble in poorly guarded areas for an extended period, but having to withdraw in the face of significant opposition. ------- There is no magic Wand of Fixing, and it is not powered by forum whines. |

It is my fault. I play the game but I have to admit that I am not training to Gallente Command Ship nor I am going to fly them and I looked EOS stats at DB but forgot that it is CreoDon Ship.

If you're introducing a specific NPCing class of Battleship, does that mean you're going to look at the current NPCing class of Battleship and make it a viable PvP vessel rather than its current role as a niche ship? I refer of course to the Raven. Why on earth will anyone in their right mind spend gazillions of ISK on a T2 ship when the Raven, the staple NPCing ship, costs so little in comparrison? Give missile speed some love so that the Caldari are useful for something other than NPCing/Support, please.

That's ok, but here some thought. If bandwidth will be similar as PG or CPU and limits what drones you can control. like above drake control 5 light or 1 heavy. thats ok. but take Domi. It has bandwith that alows to control 5 heavy drones. BUT is that mean that Domi, with that bandwith, can control a 25 light drones? or 12 med drones? The same as turrets?

I do ask however if the Interdictor cruisers will be based off the current T1 hulls? and if so, which ones? as all of the T1 hulls already have a T2 variant, also in regards to the Recon frigates, will the Amarr variant will be based off the Tormentor ( lol ) as unlike the other races it is short one frigate ( one could assume that the Griffin, Burst & Imicus would be the base for the other recon frigates ).

Oveur, if you could clarify the following point it would save a lot of heart ache and needless arguing:
"With this, bandwidth determines the number of drones you can control, allowing the dronebay to be considerably increased on drone ships, accommodating more waves or variety. Ubar? Ja!".
By drone ships I take it you're referring to the possibility of an increased drone bay on drone specialised ships only rather than every ship with a drone bay?

Because: *) What the Devs seem to say doesn't really mean it's got to be final *) The R&D Agents still have(at least pre-patch) lines talking about BPOs you might get(empty, though, but the lines are there, hinting that there may be additional BPOs to get) *) Hope never dies. This doesn't make sense generally actually - as the one set of ships least in need of a cyno to get anywhere are covert ships!
I was waiting for the dev blogs on the ships and hopefully more details before I commented though.

if this is the idea behind it, I can find many uses for it, specially considering the merc profession. Deep covert strikes and the like. ---

Hopefully you stop the trend of decreasing FPS. I used to run 1680x1050 with the best graphics settings (getting ready for work, don't have time to look them up; can do later; have all effects turned off though, along with sound) and get 120+ FPS in station, similar outside of station zoomed in with the station and other ships in view, and 180 FPS or so out of station zoomed out to an actual usable distance.
Now, with no hardware change and no system problems, I'm pushing 29.7 - 30.2 FPS in station / space zoomed in and 36-38 FPS in space zoomed out.

As far as I am aware, CCP have said that there will be BPOs for the new T2 ships, however they will just not be given out by the old lottery system, they will have a new way of releasing them
Can't find the original post that confirms the BPOs will be released, though did find the post that confirms it will not be by the old lottery system link
Macmuelli, BPOs would be needed. Availability of ships will be very limited if we have to rely on invention to get them, however BPOs allow for a steady supply of ships to the market, while the people doing invention can still produce their own - which will keep the BPOs owners honest when it comes to pricing.

Why not have invention give a bpo a % of the time. WHen an item is new, make it 5%. After some bpos hit the market, move it down to 1% or even less. That insures continued supply, uses the invention system, and also allows for increased supply as the population expands.

Originally by: Crausaum Yeah... as others have said; Faction Warfare (and so many other "Revelations" features)?
The only thing I can say to that is "Can I have your Stuff". Four new ship classes, more missions, more exploration sights, more content for the drone regions, massive graphics overhaul, what would you consider "real substance". Do you expect CCP to come over to your house and cut your grass for you? As for factional warfare, Its not like its hard to find pvp as things stand now. Personally I think this all sounds great, and Im looking forward to more details.

This woud give the Owner of one , all time an advantage for cheaper production so he make the price. If the price on ships/ mods goes down, he make more isks then all other ppls. * a bpo is also limted indirect how much u can build each month.
I woud prefer a permanent lotterie which brings good qualitys limted bpcs into the Pppls. (1 - 2- 5- 10 run for the cost of ??? researchpoints) This should be combined with the activity on research agents. Means :If u run Missions for him often, your chance to get a bpc increased. Include the quality/ runs u will get. This woud also minmize the chance for reseacrh alts which do nothing then more waiting to earn datacores, They had to go the invention way then.
pa example:
U have the chance to un maximal 31 missions in a month for an agent. Normely u get extra researchpoints from him as reward. They shoud add a " ticket" then too. Lotterie should be ticket based then ( maximal 31 tickets each person" which woud make that all ppls , who run researchagentsmissions have the same chance. Ppls which do nothing = 0 chance
pa exmple with " 40" bs bpos u can produce 400++ tech II bs then in a month.( not realy much)
so seed out bpos are not realy worth doing it.
Lets have the chance for 700 ships via lotterie? or more? On this new ships it woud make much more sense then bpos. Combined with something ppls had to do for it ( run missions) , they are not realy going on research alts which woud be logged in for a short view only.

Eve combat doesnt work that way[real combat doesnt either]. If you intend to cause trouble in a poorly guarded area for an extended period you need either the ability to be fast or to be stealthy.
The way i envisioned a cov-ops BS was something that could produce ammo from minerals and then distribute that and fitting and such to friendlies, in addition to its infiltration abilities. I.E. something that could keep a bunch of people active in space for a long time without the need for carrier logistics work.
For all intents and purposes there is no way to achieve that goal without it being on the black ops BS. Because the combat and logistical models just dont mesh.

You might hate or love the Interdictors. Whatever your feelings are, here is a heavy one. They will bring to mind a whole new meaning to "Say hello to my little friend!".
This is almost unquestionably a bad thing for the game.

Of course, I have always found it funny that the really cool stuff that is going to fix all the problems you (a player) have with (and in) the game is always 2-6 months away. It's been that way for about 4.3 years now. Strange that.

I suspect most people have performance issues running Eve, hundreds of frames in station but ~30-60 outside. The problem is that its running off your cpu rather than the card's GPU afaik. CCP have hyped this graphics revision and move to GPU as THE move that will enhance gameplay--I wouldn't run out and replace everything on your rig just yet.

sorry if this has been answered but I have a question about drone bandwidth
If I am in the right ship and have the right skills am I right in thinking that I would be able to deploy 6, 7 or 8 or more drones ? (please exclude capitol ships from my question)
or is the "5 max drones" rule still in effect, just that bandwidth restricts some ships to less than 5 drones(lets say large drones) ?

My understanding is that they are not jump capable, they are capable of fitting Jump Portal Generators in order to create a Jump Bridge like a Titan. But, only "Recon" type ships are able to use it.
If this is all true, then they would not be prevented from using star gates since they don't have an actual Jump Drive.

EXELENT new cosmos sites to explore lots of new great stuff but no tech 2 probes or launchers or a dedicated ship big enough to find and deal with it all at the same time. How about a deep space ship capable of both, instead of a Covert Ops Frigate to find it then twenty jumps back for another ship. How about a dedicated explorer class ship. Edited by: galphi on 17/09/2007 14:04:34 Something I really like about the graphics update is the uniformity of colour schemes that seems to be present on Gallente ships. The other races have had a similar scheme for all their ships (Amarr gold, Caldari dark grey, Minmatar rusty black and excrement*) but the Gallente have had a wide variety of colours on their ships (enyo is red, ishkur is green etc). The light grey and pale green lights look is awesome, and really gives their fleet a more coherant look to it. The vexor upgrade is a case in point - brilliant transformation

This drone NERFING is a load of BS! You aren't unnerfing the drones you are nerfing them. I don't care how many waves of drones I can field I care about the types of drones I can field and as a Myrmidon pilot I like to field heavies which your *** bandwidth nerfing will screw up. Instead of nerfing anything that people whine about why don't you encourage people to learn tactics like say targeting drones with alpha strikes. I'm seriously getting sick of the nerf-friendly carebears whining about things that work. I play EVE for fun, and the more fun factor you remove from the game the more I'm going to think about moving on to another game.

Battlecruisers are not intended to be used with large weapon modules. For ex. the drake can fit 1 cruise launcher, with nothing else on it... The myrmi should be able to deploy only 1 heavy drone, and some lights, or 7-8 mediums.
P.S. the basic wexor will become actually a guardian wexor.

I general this release will see a lot of long awaited improvements (drones being a biggie, and about time). Regarding drones i hope we get rid of the "target destroyed, split up and move to random targets routine" As drones is a group of weapons you should be able to focus fire like any other group of weapons in eve.
As a fully trained Myrmidon pilot i will of course also hate the bandwidth implementation. Although if it helps on balance in the grander scope, i'm all for it. Just too bad for me. First the drake...nerf....move to myrm...nerf...sigh. Guess i should be moving to a hauler, and see if that gets nerfed too :P
On a side note: Could we get a timestamp instead of just a date on the marketlog exports. Too bad that you cant figure out the exact expiry date :(

DAMMIT!! beat me to it
And will the myrm still be a good ship now? who wants to field several waves of drones when your PvPing, sounds a bit odd really - wouldnt you be wanting as much dps as possible? and to think, i wanted a myrm for low sec protection.... i'll have to train something else now, its not easy being a caldari you know... nerfing the myrm? why???

*Sigh* If there is the need to nerf the myrmidon then some accomodation will need to be made to the ship bonuses it recieves.. the current drone bonuses applied to medium drones will not align equally with the damage bonuses of other race tier 2 battlecruisers.. the bandwidth drone nerf is both uneeded and unwanted.. The most rewarding aspect of playing EVE is the richness of game play and the many and varied ways we can PVP but over time this is being eroded... the NOS nerf, now the drone nerf, the upcomming sensor damp nerf are just some examples of this gradually players are being herded toward PVP where shooting each other with guns is the only viable PVP method... Each nerf is a step closer to destroying the diversity of the game and diminishes the rich vivid playing experience of the game..

Im carebear and i agree. this is a horrible drone nerf. I pilot off and on my domi and my myrm. The whole point of the mrym is drones and gang assist. taking that away will severely remove it's ability to function. it will knock on effect that players will crawl into ships too big for them and end up making them get ganked more often. leave drone skillz where they at, or allow at least ships to use their present allocations( myrm with 5 heavies)

And retooling for something else just to have that get nurfed down the road is a gamble I'm tired of playing. CCP taking the fun out of EVE one patch at a time.

Actually, I suspect that, whatever "nerfs" get inflicted, it won't take long before people find a way round them (and if it's true that the devs play the game, I don't imagine they'll over-nerf it for themselves).

I'm confused, a myrm with hammer IIs = 238dps (no guns involved)
a drake with HAM IIs does 218....
sure with a couple of BCUS you can increase the BPS, but whats stopping you fitting guns and 1/2 damage mods on the myrm?
lets say we fitted 5 medium neutron IIs as well and we get way over 400dps....still using "only" med drones
so all you people are getting ****ed off about the fact they are bringing the myrm inline with other BC's?

Yeah, well.... I dont think there is much point in big ship kills little ship no matter what. You can go after a BS in a myrmi and have a chance of blowing it up. You can go after a BS in a drake and have a chance of not being blown up. As far as minmatar and amarr BCs go... well... IN YOUR FACE! (dont know their bonuses, im a n00b)
I guess what I would like to say is... a pilot with good skills and good fit on a kestrel should be able to kill a n00b player with badly fitted BS. I really dont see a point of everybody flying around in BSes just because everything else is too flimsy and cant kill anything (since everybody is in a BS).

lets see... now add in that getting to HH 2s takes a bare minimum of 2 months. then factor that the myrm is a ...... DRONE PLATFORM.. now it strikes me that using drones on a ship like that is just plain wierd. so givning it bonuses to use these drones... i mean wow thats unfair. I believe he(Dommond) is sayng that this person(CYTECH) is totally ignoring the fact that the Drake really isn't made to use drones, so when using the drones on the Myrm vs a Drake, obviously the myrm will win. And that total dps from the myrm is nearly the same as the total dps from the Drake. I don't know the numbers from the other BCs. He then points out that it based on char age and skills, it is easier to develope a tank in a Drake than in a Myrm in less time. I guess it makes sense since i speak crazy wcked out, over caffinated gamer. I agree the nerf is useless and unwanted.

Ok guys heres the loadout.
Myrm = 5 HH2s and no other damage mods or guns = 238 DPS
Drake = 2 HH IIs, 1 Hobgoblin IIs, and 7 Heavy Missile Launcher Is = 205 DPS Drake = 5 Hobgoblin IIs, and 7 Heavy Missile Launcher Is = 221 DPS (If its the more effective passive tank it won't have damage mods. This comparison isn't fair either cause its allowing for the drake to use 2 types of weapons yet limiting the Myrm to only one. But as you can see, even with this disadvantage, the Myrm is still beating out the Drake as far as DPS goes.)
Do it in EFT yourself. With only 5 Ogre IIs the Myrm had 475 DPS. The Myrm will now be more in line with other BCs.
(Btw before you say I'm ignoring skills, I'm using the "all Level V" skillset in EFT.)
Not only that, but because of the bandwidth "restriction" you will be forced to carry more waves of drones instead of just the biggest and baddest drones, thus keeping your DPS stable even if they try to keep killing your drones.

Originally by: CCP Oveur We're following exploration up with more encounters and also changing multifrequency probes. The Multifrequency probes take the selected scan group into account when deciding what results to return. With the Encounters being moved to Cosmic Anomalies and being given a Deadspace Anomaly beacon, you should be able to scan for either or both groups.
Edit note: There is also specific Drone Region encounters here
More encounters - yay ! I'm confused though what these changes will be. Are you saying that the current unknown exploration sites found through probing (combat for example) will no longer escalate ? instead escalation will only happen in cosmic anomaly sites ? (which so far seem to be just combat) If cosmic anomalies are changed to a deadspace beacon sig, will they still be scannable with the on-board scanner ?
If escalating sites will now be available through the on-board scanner, where is the incentive to train all those scanning related skills (they would only be useful for tracking belts and profession sites ?)
Whilst I am in favour of opening up escalations to a wider populace, for those of us who have spent an awful lot of time on scanning related skills, this would seem to be a kick in the nads.
The drone region specific changes... would these be the addition of profession sites ? i've never found mag, ladar or radar sites out there and would love to have the opportunity to find cores, bpcs in fact anything other than damn alloys and rig parts.
More clarity please - this is potentially a very big change

Another issue with cosmic anomalies - specifically in drone regions - they are lame - I mean the drones you find are tougher (in the sense they take longer to kill) than rats and yield crap amounts of alloys/parts. Even the tougher sites (that use neuts - how dare they :)) are hardly worth bothering with.
If someone takes the time to scan these down (albeit not very long with the onboard scanner) surely they should be rewarded a little over what they can do with ratting. No-one I know bothers with these anymore unless they are bored and want a slight change of pace from ratting.

From what I've heard, if you can run EVE now, it will run just as good or better with trinity. So theres no box that will go obsolete because of this update.
And the official release date is "November" :P. So I'm guessing either they're not sure yet or thats gonna be one hella long downtime.

So please in detail help me understand what this "nerf" is.
If a drone ship currently has 125 m3 of drone space, you can technically use 5 heavy drones. However, as with the Myrmidon, this causes balance issues. So the change is this: they're adding a 2nd attribute called "bandwidth" which is basically a second volume.
EXAMPLE TO CLEAR THINGS UP!! (By the way, I have no clue what the actual values will be but I know this is how it will work)
Light drone: 5m3, 5 "bandwidth" Medium drone: 10m3, 10 "bandwidth" Heavy drone: 25m3, 25 "bandwidth"
"Random ship" has a drone bay of 125m3 but will have an added attribute of 50 "bandwidth".
What this means is that, while the ship will have enough space for 5 heavy drones, you will only be able to deploy two heavy drones at a time.
Theres some speculation that this means you will be able to deploy more than 5 drones. This is false. You will still only be able to deploy only as many drones as your skills allow (aka 5 max unless you're in a carrier/mothership/guardian-vexor).
How this is a "nerf" is that its been assumed that the Myrm will only have a bandwidth of 50 or something, preventing the deployment of 5 Heavy drones preventing the DPS explained in an earlier post of mine.
Hope that helped :P

anyone
From what I've heard, if you can run EVE now, it will run just as good or better with trinity. So theres no box that will go obsolete because of this update.
And the official release date is "November" :P. So I'm guessing either they're not sure yet or thats gonna be one hella long downtime.
Thanks for the reply Tidas

Alright I understand why they think the nerf is neccessary. I don't however believe they should do it. People are complaining about T2 heavy drones which takes forever to train. Those are T2, they should do a but load of damage. Not to mention they cost a **** load of money to buy and replace. I would rather drones just get better control methods then a nerf.

Gallente seem to like names out of Greco-Roman mythology, so why not something like "Phaethon", or "Atropos"?
The Gallente drone HAC (Ishtar) takes its name from the Assyrian/Babylonian pantheon. She was the goddess of fertility, sexual love, and war. Ishtar was the daughter of Sin.

You are wrong. The only ships that will lose advantage will be ship which have more dronbay that they can launch (more than 125m3) I can name only two such ships - Dominix and Ishtar. Imho Vexor and Eos will applaud to such boost.
Typhoon. All dreads. All carriers. Have drone bays larger than 125 cubic meters now. Although a number of the dreads have drone bays only slightly larger than that.
It will be odd indeed if something advertized as a "buff" to drone boats has the net effect of decreasing possible DPS from drones on any drone boat. (Done boat being operationally defined for me as any ship with a drone-specific Skill Bonus.) This sounds a wee bit more like a nerf than a buff.
I always enjoy Oveur's blogs, and view them as a colourful part of the eve ecosystem. I'm not sure I quite understand the level of salesmanship, though. It isn't as though we have a choice about whether or not to adopt Rev III and keep playing Rev II. So I'm sold, already. I was more dazed than buzzed after this blog, though.......

Hopfully they have decided to come up with brand new models as someone suggested before.

Caldari missed out before with the rokh as a gun boat. To make a T2 gunboat for a missile oriented race would screw everyone who uses them over. I WANT MY TORP TOSSING TOUGH TANKING ship.

I'm still confused as to why anybody thinks this is a nerf to drone boats.
If I understand the blog post (with the edit) about bandwidth, then all ships will be able to fly the exact same amount of drones they are able to now. We'll just have larger bays to carry spares or different types.
Take my Harbinger for example. 50 m3 drone space. 5 Medium drones, or 2 Large and 1 Medium is all I can fly. So, when we get 'Bandwidth', the 'Bandwidth' of my ship will only allow me to fly the EXACT SAME AMOUNT OF DRONES I AM NOW, but I'll have room for spares incase they get blown up.
Stop looking at it as a Nerf to drone boats. You're still going to be able to fly the exact same amount of drones you currently can, you'll just have more dronebay space to carry more.

Cash in your datacores and get used to the fact that if you want a nice shiny License to make isk, you'll have to buy one or steal one or loot one.
The Lottery was an awful idea and its a good thing that its never going to be resurrected.
Unlucky if you are one of those who has a lot of the RPs which will only give u the lower valued datacores but I personally hope that the lottery never makes a return, unless, as one of the previous posters suggested it's to drop limited run BPC copies (limited could be 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 etc to make it worthwhile to learn the skills) with a suitable RP cost attached.

Do you mean to say that if my bandwidth is less than someone else, I can release 5 drones and they can release 10?
So combat will now be decided by how good your internet connection is?

Like everyone else I love EVE and I'm excited about the new expansion, however...
Expansions for other games packing a more advanced graphics engine always paint a pretty picture of the future. Regardless of what we are told it takes increased power for the more demanding engine and the more intensive graphics.
In this blog some customers have voiced concern about changes to their systems that are likely necessary to continue playing EVE without a loss of gaming quality. Trinity is due out early 2008. I have looked around and found no specific details on system requirements for this expansion. Considering the big shopping season coming up it would be helpful to know what we need to buy.
And now for the graphics option no game company ever implements but would completely rock. Say what you will the fact remains that 'cooler' graphics slow down game play. In more situations if your computer has the listed system requirements, less often with the recommended or above system requirements, but still graphics lag will eventually find you when you need it least.
Make it possible to display absolute minimal graphics. In a game like EVE all you really need are the overview, chat windows, menu system, object symbols in space and an arrow overlaying movable object symbols to indicate orientation. We don't even need the starry background. Graphics lag could literally be taken out of the picture for EVE clients in large fleet wars.

As far as increased system requirements, the only thing I've heard to that end is that you need something compatible with DX9.
And trinity 2 is a less demanding engine from what they were using previously. ALSO! There will be an option to keep the original ship models, etc. (The patch will be deployed with fixes and the improved engine, and then the graphics will be a separate OPTIONAL patch. This is from a dev blog that I can't seem to find right now.)
Summary! (because I say alot and little of it makes sense as it was written)
::Any system upgrade you will have to perform should be minimal (unless you're running a box with 10 y.o. parts...in which case why haven't you upgraded anyway?) ::The new models are optional.

This is how it works:
ALL Eve users get better graphics. Eve "Classis" is upgraded to be funkier than before, without being too taxing.
Eve-uber is for users with a graphics card that will support DX9c with Shader Model 3.0. These people will have the OPTION to download and install all the uber-graphics.
So everyone gets a graphics upgrade of some-kind. How far it goes depends on your graphics card.
But neither should prove any more lag-prone than before. The current Eve trinity engine doesn't make very good use of your graphics card as it is, hence being so RAM and CPU intensive.
The new engine, regardless of your graphics choice, uses the GPU a lot more, evening things out. |

This is such bull**** it's unbelievable. Un-nerfing drones by completely ******* up the DRONES skill that we trained for in order to control 5 drones at once! Yea, because people want light or medium drones to use against a Drake that has an intellegently fitted passive tank that is hard as **** for one BC to take down on it's own. Sweet, I can't wait to send "waves" of drones instead of just the ones I want to use. What a load of horse-****.

Alright, I understand everyone position on the whole nerf for drones, however I don't understand why it is necessary. Everyone is complaining about T2 heavy drones being used out of a battle cruiser. Its T2. Its suppose to be strong. Training for T2 heavy drones isn't a short train. You have to train a Rank 5 skill to Level 5, and a whole bunch of other med rank skills to at least 4. I would say also scout drones to 5, but that doesn't count since people can create characters with that ability off that bat. Thats like saying because you trained up howitzers to T2 you should only be able to fit 2 onto your battle cruiser even though you have room for more.
It takes a while to train something thats suppose to be good. Thats all we have to use as DPS is our drones. Rails are worthless and blasters have to be up at your face....(god i love blasters hehe) You have ways to destroy drones and counter act them. I don't see why the bandwidth change is necessary. Even makes training certain skill unecessary like scout drone operation to level 5. Why train it all the way up if your only going to fly 1 heavy and 2 meds out of your ship? Oh well....i had more metaphores and explanations but im hungry and need to it. Hope yall try to understand what im trying to say and respectful respond intelligently and not like a ******.

Originally by: chavala Look this thread has perhaps ****ed me off more than any other content proposal ever.
IF YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT NERFING THE MYRMIDON's DRONE CAPABILITIES I WILL KILL YOU
Oveur just stop, seriously, you are an idiot.
Well said I duelled my myrmi last night and I went up against a rook and an arbitrator & they easily took me down everytime. Why the hell would you want to increase ECM powers and decrease myrmis drones skills??. Maybe you want everybody in the game flying caldari and joining BoB. Oh hell lets just call the game bob and make everybody have to be caldari pilots. Then we can all be carebears in empire and not bother with 0.0 'm not gonna quit playing but please at least let us know if you are going to nerf the myrmi or not. regards AHM

Sorry to say I am at the moment rather disappointed with the drone changes - specifically.
Firstly it doesn't live up to the advertised promise of 'improving' drones and/or dedicated drone ships - it just does things another way. What I wonder is - all that work to change nearly every ship in eve to use bandwidth and the net result is.. this?
I feel this bandwidth change does have the general effect of reducing Gallente uniqueness with drones. (that was the theme for gallente ships right?) And yes, it does take lots more skill training to achieve their ultimate potential - but shouldn't patient players be rewarded for their effort?
It would have been nice to see features that reinforce and expand the uniqueness of the eve races. (The khanid ship bump to heavy assault missiles looked really good and filled a gap with a weapon system that was really redundant for the most part - good work there) I really would have liked to see features introduced that enrich the game and not changes that (seem to) disregard the time and effort we players have put into training for a certain ship/race. Don't fix what's not broken please!

While it's great (and long awaited) that CCP is embracing wiki, why make a new one? There are several out there; adding one more is hardly useful. Instead, CCP should try to merge them under some free (Creative Commons) license. I would recommend talking to the fans running the biggest one (probably http://www.eve-wiki.net), moving it to official eve hosting site, and asking others to join in. -- One day, we will return to the planets... please, CCP? :)

When thing are prenerfed, they never seem to get fixed up to planned levels.
When things are changed they are near impossible to get changed back.
We are not going to see bad drone changes in a high end expansion then have it undone in trinity 1.2. They will stick, and become the new baseline. When its again time for things to be changed, it will be Other things broken and beaten down to foolish levels.

Edit: I agree with Tek'a Rain. Lots of drone dmg nerfs had passed through without getting in the changelogs or in public chat, we just got slight nerfed drones each patch and the nerfed states becomes default in next version. So when you try to petition they are like, wth are you talking about, the drones are acting normally. Everytime i trained a level of droneintface & gallente bs (longggggggg training) the drones got a little stronger and after next patch weaker again. After months of training this is what you get: You train, but what you train will get weaker instead of stronger. Now dare to judge our drone-nerf-complains again you gun, ewar, and other weapons users!
Something you train for 6 months is supposed to be strong, or you wouldn't train it! We all could be UBER with t2 gunnery in much shorter time then that but some of us choose(d) drones.
