Oh no, im late... Happy Birthday Eve!
Funny story here, A fellow mod and myself decided to warp around in polaris space one shiny day. We both initiated a warp to a beacon that was shown on our overview. The capacitor on our ships went down to like 90% and hence i thought everything is normal.
Time passes and we chat a bit during warp. After 10 minutes i began to wonder why we still didnt arrive at our destination. Ah, still a few 1000 of au¦s to go.
I looked back to the station where i came from, hmm, 6000 au away. So i did some calculations (1+1=2) 6000au + 3998au left = 9998au warp. Doh!
After 15-20mins we arrived at our destination .... the Alliance Tourney Specator Beacon.
PS.: Jacques was my partner in crime. PSs.: Yes we did warp back to the station aswell

Many happy returns Eve, and congrats to CCP!
Been here 3.5 years and many happy memories:
1) Moving all the way from Gisleres to Paye on my second day of play to join a corp. Darn, that's a long way to go with no AB or MWD and no warp-to-zero! But it gave me lots of time to admire the scenery :)
2) Finally getting to Paye and meeting the boss, Gary Forthy. Heading out to the belts for our first mining op together. Had just been gifted an Imicus, and Gary was in his Apoc. I don't think I mined much, I was just sat there gawping at the scale of this massive ship next to me!
3) Working hard and getting my first Thorax, then losing it on the same day due to a) stupidity and b) panic. Decided to test it out by killing some NPC haulers, and found out that they hit a lot harder than you would think... warped to the nearest planet with 1/4 armour left, and started repping... someone else warped to the same planet, I panicked, and warped to the first station on the list. Unfortunately, it was the station the NPC haulers had come from *BOOM*
4) Gary replacing my Thorax as a Christmas present!
5) Hearing rumours of action in Crielere, and heading out there to watch, my first real view of a massive battle (and first time I'd seen NPC BS).
6) A lil tingle every time the ISK in my wallet has an extra 0 on the end
7) Getting my first Apoc. Losing it a while later in Reblier to a PvP encounter with a Mega while fitted for a mission. Adreniline rush!
And finally:
8) All the people I've met, who've made it so much fun. In particular, Gary... 3.5 years later, and I'm still in a corp he runs. Get that 'net connection sorted buddy and come back soon!
Here's to the future

Happpppy Birthday Eve!!! One hell of a babe :)
Most memorable events? Going into low sec with friends to try out pvp finding nothing and shooting each other, getting criminal countdowns.... getting jumped by a pirate and fleeing to a station by mistake and both of us getting blown up.. then watching the pirate who had followed us get blown up as well.... and then leaving the station in my shiny new reaper and getting blown up again....><
Getting the corp mail that accepted me into Pale Riders... back then it was my second corp but a year later realising that I loved the corp so much I came back to it after a tour in 0.0 and became CEO
Being in my first T2 fitted Prophecy in low sec, being attacked and scrammed by a Raven and tackler and being able to survive as the people I'd made friends with a few hours earlier came to my rescue.
Eve rawks, is consistently fun. I saw Eve and Star Wars Galaxies at the same time (pre nerf nerf). I don't regret joining SWG instead of Eve, but I do regret not doing both ><

Seriously?
That actually is more upsetting than the thought that you had just forgot.
This is how we celebrate four years Eve, and our participation in it?
A thread?
Yeah, way to go.
I know how I would feel if for their birthdays I gave my kids a pen and paper and said "go make your own gift, me and your mum decided it would be more fun than buying you something."
/me skulks off.
Aw, don't be like that. They obviously didn't forget you, since they seem to have given you an enormous sense of entitlement to mark the occasion.

First happy b-day eve.
And to be honest there are a few moments that i call memorable.
1 st moment has to be wheni saw The Eve cdlying in store. At that time i was in America on vacation so it would lasted 3 weeks before i could install eve on my pc.
2nd memorable thing is the suicide run i made when i was in Ushra K'han. A couple of alliance buddy's went in there noobships fitted with a gun and i shield booster ( i think that was it)to the homesystem of Aegis Militia. Just to shoot them and see how long we lasted. We did pretty well :).
I alo could talk about my first rat farming trip in The Great wild lands, could only fly a rifter at the time and my corp buddy's where in cruisers.
My first time getting podded, 1st fleet battle ect...
But i would like to say thnx to all my former corpmates, Sforza, Phennick, Jorund, Jules, Juss and the Usrha K'han for making the 1st 3 years in eve so much fun. And offcours a big shout out to my current corp CoRM who make eve atm fun to play.

i remember my first time in eve when it first opened i manged to save up enough from mining in a imicus to afford a iteron 1 this was on my first char anyway i got a lot of joy out of doing the market and with that old ship when you got out of warp you travel so slowly to the gate i use to imagine all the people on borad checking cargo and doing things poeple did on slow moving ships in highsec... I still imigne the same thing when im Auto piloting though highsec in the obelisk :D
this game continues to give me joy and there always something new to test my skills on be it a obscenely hard L4 mission in lowsec to being ganked by pirates ....
thanks CCP :D

Happy Birthday :)
My Best moment - During an Event where we, poor capsule pilots were respnding to a call to protect a border from the cursed Blood Raiders.
After we successfully co-ordinated a defence of a few gate camps in 0.3 systems, I got left behind as the gang warped off whilst collecting drones in my Ishtar. As i rushed to catch up with the gang, I arrived at a gate at the same time as an enemy 'Blood Follower ' arrived in his pod. As I popped out the Ogres, I engaged him with my 250mm rails, heart pumping, expecting him to warp away and ** pop ** got his Pod!!

I have a quite a few moments in Eve which to me pretty much summons up what this game is all about.
1. My first day in the game, docking out and realizing how huge the solar system really was. I have never been so impressed by a game in my life, apart from when I was told that there were thousands of other solar system that are just as big. I was stunned by it, and was ecstatic for weeks afterwards.
2. When I joined the guys in JuBa in the days when we all were in Solitude. I felt right at home amongst the twisted minds of crazy dutchmen, nasty brits and a bunch of silly americans I can honestly say that being with those guys changed me as a person as much ingame as out of it. Hats off to all of them. When I was going through some rough times in RL just logging on to Eve and spending time in corpchat was able to keep me from doing stupid things. They contributed alot into saving my life (literally). Thanks guys.
3. The short period of time in Racing Corp, not to mention the invitation to that corp. Me and a friend were out ratting in an empty 0.3 system (him in a shield tanked Thorax, myself in a Caracal with a small shield booster) when we saw an old JuBa player (namely Tado) appear in local. We happily kept flying around until he jumped in the same belt as us in a HAC and just stood there. We didn't know what to do so we just waited aswell. A few minutes past, nothing happened until I got an Evemail saying that he was going to attack us but just saw a post I made at a forum and offered me a place in his corp. I almost **** my pants at that moment, realizing that he would have peeled the flesh off my bones before I could scream "zomg!". Anyway, me and my friend both joined RC with Tado and he dragged us around pretty much all of Eve. We had a great time and learned alot back then, I still get all warm and fuzzy inside when I think about The Big Blue and their "LOCKDOWN!".
4. The olympics ice hockey final. Sweden against Finland. That was the time when the very same friend as above had dragged his comp over to my place and we sat in a room no more than 12 square metres with two comps running painfully hot. We had a TV in another room, so everytime the speakers started to get excited, we came running to check what was happening. In the end we both lost our ships due to being afk in belts, but that didn't matter at all. A small price for a gold in the olympics.
I've taken a break or two from Eve, but always came back thanks to the people and the possibilities. No other MMO, no other game at all has had even remotely the impact on me as Eve had.
Here's to another 4 years, and beyond!

Comming from and Old Progen Warrior from E & B, I came to Eve soon after EnB was offlined. Just couldnt get the hang of it so I didnt try again untill over a year later. I have regreted that choice now for 2 yrs. 2 Thumbs up to CCP and all those involved. My fondest moment in Eve, was the realization of the close knit friends I have made from all over the world, and im still not sure what some arent from another solar system. Thank you Eve-Online for bringing the world and great people together in a unified thought.

Thank you for 4 years of pure entertainment! Here's to wishing the next 4 are even better!

Greate mmorpg but the last 2 years the game play isn't good. War POS's and Super Capital Ships are 2 reason for the eve-online now isn't good in game play like 2 years before. I think after 3,5 years, is time to stop i play the best mmorpg, because the game play isn't good like the old time.

ooooh.. memory thread!
last day of beta: Apocalypse day. logging in and being able to use all ships, equipping an Apoc without knowing the first thing about flying one... undocking and getting ganked 15 seconds later. ;)
tought me a valuable lesson, that: it's the journey, and what you learn while walking that makes the goal worth experiencing.
also: Every day in the Gallente Empire chat is worth remembering ;) _________________ "No Worries" Karma, fool on the hull. |
