4 years, wow... I'm just 5 months into this game and the most amazing thing is that I can play with 4-year-veterans without annoying them too much. That's something very few MMOs can offer (tbh *having* 4-years-vets in an MMO is an achievement in itself ).
The most memorable moment so far was my first successful escape from a pirate gate camp... the rush of adrenalin almost made my tiny Frig burst with triumph
. . Very funny Mr. Scott, now beam down our clothes... |

My corp mate wanted me to clone jump out with him to an area across the galaxy ( was like 50 ish jumps away) I realized when I got to the station it had no medical clone thing. So he tells me the nearest one is two systems over. He scouted for me as I was following not far behind him in a dom. As he jumped in the system that had the medical bay I needed he said the gate was clear. So I jumped in and saw a HAC coming out of warp at the gate I was at. ( keep in mind I have no clone ) He warp srams and webs me. Then about 4 or 5 more ships jump in then my heart feels like its about to exploded its going so fast. I turned on my armor reps then ejected. I was able to get away in my pod and to the station to update my clone.
Looking back on it I should have been in a shuttle or pod from the first place. But I remember thinking if they manage to pod me I'm quitting. Since this character has been around since 2003.

My most memorable moment has to be my first PvP encounter. I was new (3 weeks I do believe), and was getting the loot from my lvl 2 mission I had just completed in my shiney new Caracal. I suddenly realized that there was another ship taking my loot, and he was flashing red (at the time I didn't realize that NPC Police didn't attack can thieves). I docked, and fitted a web and a scram and warped back to him, not having the faintest clue what I was doing I locked and approached, expecting him to leave, but he didn't. I had no idea if he had friends in local, so as I scrammed and webbed him and let my launchers go to town I was sweating bullets. I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest.
Sure, it was Caracal (me) vs Merlin (other guy), and we were both new (he was 2 weeks older than me IIRC). Not like it was a super cool close-call win, but I will never forget that.
Been almost a year since I started, and looking forward to more! Congrats CCP

Well i am only 11 months in game (well 12 days sort) but i have a big collection of memorable events lol.
The first Tristan i bought, which i spent hours watching it fly in space and killing npc frigs. Biggest one my Corporation which i joined after a few days and i am still in, cool guys all and in fact i consider them friends and very good ones too. And also the first time i joined a patrol with ships above 10 where it was just awesome to see ships flying together, warping together and fighting in battles. These things as well as any new toy i get my hands on are still keeping my mouth open.
Happy Birthday EVE and congratulations to CCP for making such a beautiful game . It ain't perfect but perfection is something that becomes boring fast (don't want to add a Bene Geserit quote here about perfection).

Happy Birthday Eve! Congratulations CCP, keep doing what you are doing and don't listen to the whiners!
Most memorable event? So many. That's why Eve is so great. One that springs to mind is when I was new and my corp was at war. Enemy chased my Probe into the station. I had to go to the mall in rl and when I got back, the guy was still there waiting for me! Ok, I tell him, I'll come out for a 1 on 1, but to give you fair warning, I won't be in my Probe, I'll be in my Rifter!
Ok he says. Out I come and he's in a Rifter too. We battle near the station, he starts getting the better of me (he's like a year older than me) and I flee to a gate. We battle there and I have to warp away as I'm being beaten (why didn't he scramble me?). I get to another gate and he shows up there. I can't jump out! Didn't know that gates don't work after you agress. He finishes me off.
I look up from my laptop and realize I'm shaking from an adrenaline rush like I've never had before. I think it was around this time I changed my subscription plan to yearly.
He put... creatures... in our bodies... to control our minds. He made us... say lies... do things. |

Happy Birthday EVE and congratulations to all that have contributed to make our world something special
My most memorable moment would be stumbling upon a Raven in an asteroid belt, ratting. Then thinking 'I wonder if I have enough Antimatter S in my hold to take it down?' My harpy engaged and 4 reloads later I had my finest moment :)

The most memorable experience was back around 04. When I first earned a Ferox. I had worked minning for months for it. (back then it took alot more time to earn isk and train skills) I took my ferox ratting in a .4 system only for another ship of some sorts to decloak and jam me while pinning me down. His drones ate my hard earned Ferox slowly. As he ripped away at my shields I thought hard about quiting EVE Online. I did for awhile then came back. I learned a hard lesson that day and never forgot it. I still don't know who killed me, or what ship he was in. Glad to say that today I'm the one hunting. - Lexer

aawn, it's so sweet to remember. That was about 2 years ago ... Our little channel got 2gether in Mara in halfly fitted battleships and cruisers to celebrating the most sernior member's birthday in our small channel - some even jumped 40 jumps w/o Bms to attend. We doing pirating for the whole night, kill some haulers and cruisers, shut the local pirates up and sing happy birthday at the end through TS - I felt like we r families at that time. The only one and the last momment, but the sweetest ~ We did manage to make a corp later on, fight 2gether alot, strugling in the wake of Age of Capital ships, some even becomes FC, some quit, some continue pirating. We may never been the same but at least I will let these memories stay in my heart for really really long ~ Thx CCP for letting me meet all of my ingame-friends. And Happy birthday to Eve-Online.

Edited by: Vegeta on 07/05/2007 18:55:03 Dozens of memorable moments and fond memories.
- Robbing my first corporation, 5 days or so into the game. - Robbing my second corporation, a month or so into the game. Leaving to form TLBC and the good times that ensued. - Among the first to get a battleship (scorpion) - Destroying Grikl's Impoc - Crushing FA in m0o. Showing the world that a small corp of 40 people could beat one of Eve's largest alliances. - Joining the truly elite mercenaries Cult of Cthulhu who showed me that you didn't always have to go head first into a fight. - All the awesome fights with Omniscient Order - Independently acquiring my first (and hopefully only) mothership.
Goal for the next two years? Lose my mothership, cry for a month and then start saving up for an Erebus.

First Cruiser and First Battleship Lost:
In The Ascendancy only a few weeks into the game I lost my first Vexor to DrunkenMasterĘs Megathron in a Space Invaders (SPVD) gate camp. I was flying cap support for RogerWilcoĘs Apoc and he survived breaking the gate camp.
Later in 2004 I had saved up enough isk to buy my first Tempest. My friend Stargazer told me it would be ok to shoot him because we were in the same corp, to try out my first battleship. Somehow (missile radius damage I think) I was promptly smacked-down by Concord and all my hard work (cruiser mining) had been lost. I was really frantic/shocked/upset. Stargazer helped me come up with the isk to replace it (because he was worried that I would be too discouraged and quit).
He later used the details of this incident to prove I was myself after an 8 month Eve break (for school). His inquisition confused me at first because he kept asking about my "First Temp" and I kept trying to tell him that it wasn't a temp account.

Gotta say my first experience was in 0.3 Minmatar space which has literally become my home in EVE since I started playing. However, getting my butt kicked by a Ginger Magician on my 2nd day of play, then by Eve Warrior and Ozwald on the same day, obviously I was taking a severe risk in mining at the time rather low amounts of Omber and Kernite, and roaming areas notorious for pirate activity. Now though, its all good stuff, a lot easier to say the least. Funny thing is, after my numerous battles with pirates in those specific regions in the past, that now most of my friends in EVE are actually pirates. Good lot really, hehe!!.
Good to know that I can match them now, as EVE Warrior & Ozwald know in a diff screen char, hehe :P.
Love the game, shame I can not play it as much these days, but it still gets 10/10 scoring for best game ive ever played.
Cheers

Happy Birthday EVE! I've enjoyed the last year very much!
My most memorable moment was the first time I flew in "low-sec". I decided to take a "short-cut" through 0.4 space in my shiny new Catalyst. I was oogling all the empty, yet to be filled high slots as I warped across system, when I noticed the warp tube was about to close. I looked at the gate, 15km away, and saw a battleship hovering near it. The next sequence of events happened in an eyeblink... "Oh cool! A battleship, that's so badass!" *beep beep BOOM, BOOM!* *inside of a station view* "You silly pilot, you've been podded!" ..."WTF?!"
Ah, the adrenelen. The first time I was podded. The first of many.

Well, I've been around since about the last 8 months of beta and spent an off and on career over the past 4 years in EVE. I've experienced the best EVE had to offer in many of the departments of gameplay. I was a member of Sabaoth Incorporated in beta, the original and to this day the most true to the name of the one Amarr RP COrporation in EVE. I fought along side XirtamVotf while I was in Vengance of the Fallen, I started my own corporation in Curse Alliance and fought m0o, c0w, Stain, Xetic plus many more.
I mined Veldespar in Sabaoth during the early days of EVE where we were working towards the first Cruiser to be produced off the Orignal Omen BP we and two other corporations worked together to buy. I mined Arkanor while being yelled at in some of the most colourful profanities Xirtam has to offer. I've fought in massive 200+ fleet encounters in U-Q, plus small frigate skirmishes including the days of the Cruise Missile Kestrels.
I'd have to say after all that my favourite memory of EVE is the first PvP experience I ever had. My wingman and friend IRL Twitch Veleshti and I finally got skills to use Cruise missiles in our Kestrels. We ventured off into of all places (>_<) HED-GP.
There we found our first prey, a Vigil. TO our knowledge back then a Vigil was just a crappy Minmatar ship. lol we closed in from 60km, hit 50km and locked, and proceeded to unload our missiles as though we were kiting some Sansha's spawn lol. The Vigil punched it's MWD, dropped two missiles and poped my Kestrel, then dropped two and popped Twitch. For the life of us it took everything we had to escape through the tears of us laughing so hard.
God we got raped that day, here's to 4 years of dying, crying, laughing, and smashing ones head off a desk while mining. :D
We love you EVE haha..

man cant believe im 4 years old :P. in any case my favoret moment...
hmm...
i would have to say the first time i fired up eve. the graphics and smoothness of the game were amazing. i actualy sat there through my whole first skill (15m or so) before i actualy moved my ship. and to this day that is eve's greatest asset is the wonderfull team who build the graphics.
second most memerable event would have to be breaking through the DORIL bubble blocaid w/o an insta in a raven fitted for 0.0 ratting. some how i managed to survive with 20% structure.

Edited by: Aknot Wat on 08/05/2007 01:03:56 The first time I saw my first fleet battle.
I came out of a jump gate warp to a hellish carnage of smart bombs lighting up the sky and streams of missiles. Then when I thought it could not get any more insane...the jump gate came to life as about 30 ships of all sizes came flying in one after another. Ending with this gigantic Dread-like ship. I was in awe.
Turns out it wasn't a dread just some giant BS. Still, freaked me out. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please let us chose the old ship voice as an option. |

My most memorable event in EVE was the whole CA/SA war, pvp was just never the same again...
I feel obliged to post a few screenshots from EVE back in 2004 onward, so here we go!
Battles: "65 in local" "It's gonna be big" SA fleet jumps into CA attack force Blackbird down! Ack! The drones! Slightly outnumbered.. Shortly after mobile warp disruptors were added Doing the Serp 10/10 complex with 4 battlecruisers, just before the nerf to dual oversized AB
Bugs: "I've got beach balls in my belt" The infamous "stuff stuck to my ship" bug The client had enough. (also old EVE website) Roid eating a gate

Been around for awhile. Don't usually say much. Two things helped make this game great.
1. Risk - In no other game (other than the game of "real" life; not sure what that is)that I know of can you stand to lose so much in such a short amount of time. It makes you sweat.
2. The people - there were many. To a large degree, we stand on their shoulders (yeah, I stole that. fitting : )
Here is a short list: - Joshua Calvert - Hippey - Molly - Jim Raynor - Jash Illian - TankCEO - SaraKerrigan - Viceroy - Drunkenmaster - j0sephine Without their guidence, I wouldn't have made it to my first field of omber. Among other things.

Edited by: Yura Naten on 08/05/2007 03:13:26 happy b'day all, this game is awesome, 4 years and still going strong, here's to another 4 years
as for most mem moment
would have to be when could get a scorp to go so fast the paint would peal, all mid slots full of ab's / mwd's < most fun moment
best moment of all was early 06 when goon where in placid still and we had about 9 people and we were camping MHC and in come goon, local blows up, counted 31 of them in all, we were rdy to retreat when we decided " what the hell " we had 3 domi's, mega, curse, thorax, can't remember others ( surprised i remember that many lol ) so we stayed and we got lagged to hell but they came, bs's. couple hac's i remember a zealot and the fight went for about 20 minutes and in the end we made them run, from the whole fight we lost 2 people and destroyed most of them, i think only 5 of them escaped, it was a gr8 fight, both sides did the "gf" in local and we left after that, it was amazing to beat that many with so few.
that is my most memorable experience that will live with me for ages to come "Muthaphukkaz that choose safety over freedom don't deserve to have either one!"
