Congratulations for the first 4 years and I am looking forward to many, many more!
Most memorable, three years ago when I came over from E&B and just jumping into systems and marveling at the graphics! And that continues to improve! Bravo CCP!

Well done on 4 years!
Best thing ive done is Flying for Sani'Khal Vecna in the last alliance tournament. We lost all of our matches except one of them beating SMASH Aliance. We trained hard and it was good to go up against the best EVE has to offer in the way of PVP.

Edited by: Tamryre on 05/05/2007 14:20:29 Aligned to a POS in YM-, in a relatively small gang of 30-40 or so BS. Suddenly the order is given to warp and engage the 4 carriers and 19 dreads assailing our POS. Decision to not engage Fighter support is made, it sounds like a foolish move, we're all going to die... Coming out of warp primary dread is locked, nos and guns engaged ... hostile support fleet of ~100 warp in. ****. We're getting pounded, lag is bearable, enemy fighters and smartbombs are going off, enemy BS picking at targets, support burning in. Fleet ordered to emergency warp out.
In the middle of warp reports of weapons not reloading are heard, coming out of warp reports of ships not responding are made. Then ... a message is seen in Local:
T H E K E Y
Chowdown is in local .... 3 minutes later all guns are reloaded, ships aligned and in warp. Sounds of schoolgirl giddiness are still heard over TS as overview loads, wrecks scattered over the battlefield. Primary dread target is called. TS silence ensues.
Could not help an ear-to-ear grin for close to an hour. Others did likewise. Thank you CCP for the greatest game.

Happy 4th birthday.
Most memorable?
10 of us stuck in a system and blocked off from escape 20 jumps away from home. 45 minutes of near death experience and the relief i felt at the backup to break us out made me rush to the bathroom to pee. NO OTHER MMO gave me that heartpounding experience.
Congratz CCP, here's to better and more exciting times ahead.

My most memorable, hopefully, hasn't happened yet. That's why I still play. I'm still trying out new things all the time.
Up till now? Probably the first time I undocked in my first rookie ship and looked around. I've played a lot of MMO games in the past, but none like Eve (even SWG-JtL pre-change pales). I've always played space combat games from all the way back to Wing Commander I up to DarkStar One. Eve is a perfect fit for me.
Originally by: K'reemy G'udness I think the kind of person who's going to do well at eve is the autodidact. This game requires self teaching, and what that doesn't cover, pain will do the rest.

As in RL, my best times in EVE have been with other people - inordinately in a group where one or more persons are getting steadily more drunk and typing strange words, typically during a mining op. I wish I still had the chat logs. Sadly my mining days are far behind me, but the hilarity continues thanks to TS, Vent, etc
As for OOG - best was at the end of Fanfest #1 (long before E-ON came along). It had been a fairly disasterous evening (having to wait 2 hours for the beer taps to start flowing), but speaking with Reynir, Siggi and others late that night, there was a genuine passion for their game that I'd never before, or since, experienced in all my travels as a games hack. And unless the passing of time has embellished the memory, I even think a couple of tears were shed...
Thank you CCP. Happy birthday to EVE... and to all who sail in her. o7
And happy birthday to my main, too

Edited by: BH Desryn on 05/05/2007 14:30:52 4 years?! Damn, time does fly!
I think the most memorable fight I've had was while in 0.0, I jumped with a few guys from my corp into a huge gang of frigs, cruisers and some BS. We were all in BS at the time and totally outnumbered like 3 to 1. It was an "Oh crap" moment but we came away with a bunch of killmails (6 or 7 bs I think) and didn't all die (I think we only lost 2)
Being given the opportunity to join ISD has to be one of my be one of my most memorable non pvp events. Now I get to test all the new spiffy stuff (as well as the very old stuff) and break it. I love finding some of those nasty bugs but I especially love seeing the exploits get fixed (I wont say which ones I found for fear of a lynch mob)

Hey, good to see you back Pann.
I think the most memorable moment for me was installing Eve for the 1st time. Never played a MMORPG before and not found one since that can match this.
In game it has to be finding my first 0.6 system with no stations that I could sit and mine omber all to myself. I can still remember the sheer delight in mining my way into my first Thorax, (original char was Intaki)!
Then the first corp I ever joined, ICEI, and the 'mine the CEO a new BS' ops that it seemed to entail :) Still going now after extended absence of the original mob although I've long since moved on.
The Crielere event which resulted in the 1st Cloaking Device. Was my first sight of a BS rat, several 750k ravens spamming torps iirc.
Gaaah, there's loads of highs now I'm thinking of it, too many to mention from the last 3.5 years :) ______________________________ A closed mouth inserts no foot

There are too many to list but I'll go over a few (why contain good memories to just one).
- The time that HDY sortied on a mining op and destroyed the entire system worth of roids. To my knowledge HDY was the first Corp to accomplish this feat in under 24 hours. Granted, this was back in the day when we didn't have things like Hulks and Strip Miners etc.
- When HDY completed the entire T1 ship BPO line and offered them for sale to our clients. That was a proud day.
- Pretty much any antics of Hellgremlin, the Constantines, Ragnar and other iconic figures from the world of EVE
- When Wrangler left HDY and went to work for HDY. It was a HUGE relief, we didn't have to listen to his incessant whining anymore (wink)
- The first time I ship killed and then podded a M0O pilot was definately **** and giggles. The amount of smack talk that spewed from that kids mouth was truely monumental.
EVE has been a HUGE part of my online personna and daily activites for the better part of 5 years. I hope that EVE continues for another 5!
Regards, OK

I can only think of two...
1) My first (and only) podding as a result of a trek through Rancer.
2) Deleting my beta character when I returned to the game because "Hey...this guy has weird skills. I think I should start over." I kick myself every time I see someone with a 2003 birthdate in local and everyone ****s themselves (including me). Hahaha.

Four years, wow. The most brilliant MMO out there, and believe me when i say that. Congratulations CCP.
Most brilliant moment, the defence of CZD against the NFC. Just the unparalleled comradeship, the two battlelines, the blaze of gunfire, the flash of explosions.
That's the beauty of this game, the moments are equal to those of sci-fi lore, The Battle of Hoth, the voyages of Serenity, the exploration of Rama. This game is sci-fi itself.

First time I opened the EVE political map. Not exactly an EVE-wide 'event' but for me it was the moment I knew I'd play EVE for a long long time.
Then I spoke to a friend he said, "Well it's not really that territorial actually, they're trying to make it more so". I was disappointed, but I stuck with it. And now 4 years on territory is more and more important. The battles are more and more epic, their outcome can affect the makeup of the entire galaxy, and the politics is more and more important.
Ace. I'll post more in another 4 years. _

Originally by: CCP Wrangler To commemorate this blessed event we would like you all, players, developers and volunteers alike, to post your most memorable event in the world of EVE. A lot has happened during these 4 years and we would like to celebrate this with a trip down memory lane.
So many memories, with the best being out of game, meeting various players at Gencon and GDC. Can't really beat meeting other players and hanging out with them shooting the breeze.
Ingame, I'd say the first event I ran, it was in Ours, and I think every player who got involved, had never even seen an event, except one, who explained it to the rest, and they were all very, very into it, even though there was no pewpew.
I look forward to being here 4 years from now as well, and meeting more of you guys.

There are many, but what I will remember most is the drunken fun with my corpmates - this feeling of comraderie is only possible in the cruel and unforgiving universe that is EVE-Online. The weak perish and the strong endure - may it continue to be so. ______________________________________

My favorite memeory was going to deep 0.0 for the first time. I flew my freighter with escort from Providence to Omist, 63 jumps and 3 hours later until i could kiss the floor of my new home. That had to be the most fantastic feeling on getting there in one piece :) I couldn't have done it without my fellow corpmates that convinced me to go there. Thanks guys :)

Still here playing after beta, think EVE is a great game that fills in a lot of my time, lol Thanks for this wonderful game, CCP and keep on going.
Best thing happened to me is that I joined Freelancing Corp of Paul Lebaue. Great people, lots of fun and best friends. Sadly we have seen some old time players gone due to RL issues but we still love them and they keep on returning
Cheers!
