Hmmm, memorable event.....
Discovering autopilot settings weren't working and that I was in 0.0 space. That was fairly memorable. It was also kinda empty of people.
Still float around in highsec though.
Happy Birthday EVE, may you continue for many more years to come.

When EVE launched, I was the community manager. I had been on a plane all night and arrived at the office just as the servers were coming up for the first time that morning. Everyone crowded into the small conference room at Klappurstig and watched the projector screen as someone (I think it was ReyRey) was playing. It was like Christmas morning when you're a kid, all of that anxious excitement and lots of nervous giggling.
Things seemed to be going really well, but there was this odd combination of holding your breath longer than you meant to and then almost hyperventilating because you were breathing too fast. I've been through game launches since then that weren't that intense. Maybe it was that way for me with EVE since it was the first time for a lot of us.
We knew it was going to all be okay when these words from one of the players appeared in the chat channel:
Quote: I hope they take the servers down sometime today so I can get a shower.
People were so excited, they were foregoing food, rest and common hygiene practices because they didn't want to miss a minute in our brave new world. It was awesome.
Of course, it wasn't all roses and sunshine. We've had our share of wonkiness and drama. It's hard not to take it to heart sometimes and we are genuinely affected to some degree when a player is unhappy about something. Still, the way they express that unhappiness can be a little overboard and, unintentionally, they make us chuckle when they send us notes like this one. It has to be my favorite of all the nastygrams I've ever seen come through the petition system:
Quote: If Iceland had trees, I would tell you to go hang yourself.
I may have been on holiday at another game company for a couple of years, as Oveur puts it, but my heart was always here at home with EVE, with my teammates and our fantabulous community. Words can't express how happy I am to be back and to be able to share days like today with all of you.
CCP made a game. Our players made it a real world. We appreciate everyone who's ever logged in because that's what has made EVE become all that it is.
Takk takk!

Have had no memorable expirences other than being harassed by adolesents in covert ops ships.. So i sit and train and train and train and train and train and train and train and train and train and train and train.. Fun game for a new guy. Great game to leave run while playing Armed Assault. Maybe in a year my skills will be up enough to be little more than target practice.

Happy birthday, EVE.
Three things really stand out to me: First day on the trial, after finishing the tutorial, I was just randomly flying around looking at space. The "big empty" was and is beautiful. Secondly, the first time I jumped into lowsec and had that warning box pop up... Made me really feel that I was about to put myself and my hard earned Caracal in danger. And finally, the first time I actively went looking for pvp and realised that what I had feared was the best the game has to offer and I should have done it sooner.

Edited by: Zadeus on 05/05/2007 11:43:35 Most memorable event; has to be in my noob days, was in my new Cyclone, which I mined omber continuously for weeks to get Spur of the moment decision to stop off in a 0.4 and pick up a skillbook. Bout to undock, and saw there was a red flasher in local... thought, to hell with it and undocked anyway... Warped to stargate at good ol' 15km, and there he was in a Scorpion, ganking noobs with his smartie... As luck would have it, I had a prototype cloaker fitted, so hit it immediately... then followed a very slow trip to the stargate, taking a couple of hits from smartbomb along the way (no uncloak though )... plenty of time to see the pirate kill a couple of newbies, boom on the ship, then boom on the pod Pirate then warped off after the sentry guns started to hurt him, and I made my jump out of the system Those were the days
Happy birthday Eve!

Happy Birthday Eve !.
Most memorable moments .. oh so many..
Shooting snowballs on xmass , a unique event that envolved the entire eve world. Setting up a large POS in 0.0 for the first time.. The adrenaline rush of running the rabbithole tunnel in providence just before DT with zydrine and megacythe in a cheap t1 industrial. Yulai center of eve , when the super highway was still around.. The Jita protest, developers smartbombing the protestors :) Doing stress tests with CCP_Tanis on sisi.. lots of fun..

Stalking a freighter group, being careful not to be noticed. Showing up at the same gate as their freighter + escort ready to BBQ them only to have the freighter (and some of the escort) log-off mid-jump instead of dieing to my gang on the other side. - BOOST OUTLAWS (-10.0 and proud of it) |

Most memorable moment... sneaking up to an interceptor in my covert ops frigate - he was annoying my alliance's fleet. I blew him away. Surprise!
(This was on my old account, which I gave away a few years ago.. I've just started playing the game from scratch now and I love it just as much)

My most memorable event was laughing my arse off when my fellow noobie lost his ship to the now infamous Empire gate gamp in Yulai (March '04 presumaly). I always forget which corp it was that organised it and lost so many members to the GMs. Happy days

In ancient times on earth, a king would once a year walk blindfolded among his people, if left untouched it would demonstrate the trust of his people and the stability of his kingdom.
Our universe is much more then a kingdom. We all remember glorious and sad times alike, friends long gone, friends anew, each of us carriers a bit of EVE with him or herself.
Our universe is 4 years old. 4 years since a code based big bang which started off a wild and amazing ride from one corner of the universe to the next, exploring technologies and societies, and leaving corpses wherever we go.
It is the birthday of all of us, CCP gave us a universe, how about celebrating it.
Let's put something together, a mad party from one end of the universe to the next. Put Valerie in a faction ship and let her bring love and light from one end of the universe to the next, or let CCP staff join a big convoy and tour the universe for a day (with faction loot ofcourse) :-)

Well first congrats CCP. I can tell you from experience your product has a long future, as one of the games I developed will soon hit it's 10th year, and going strong. I see many of the same great contributions in Eve
For me, as a noob of only 2M sp, my most memorable moment was the first big cap ship battle / loss, when at the time I was in ERA, and RA jumped 21 dreads in.
Here I was, a noob told by our first CEO not to go into 0.0 space for at least a year, watching 30B of ships going pop. Given most of the people we left in empire never even seen a Dread, this was some experience.
Noob's, go to 0.0, thats where the fun is.
And CCP keep up the good work !

I am retired. I was playing games like DarkStar One and Homeworld, and Freelancer, all good games. But, there was an element missing. I found that element in EvE. So I forged out in my new frigate and began to explore EvE. Each day I learned something new; I began to gain skills and experience. My mind, I believe keeps sharp playing EvE. One night I adventured out in low sec. My Dominix gleaming in space. Then out of the darkness came a NightHawk, flashing bright red. Missiles came rushing in like the comets of thor. I knew then by his history I was out classed. As I escaped his deadly claws of death I could hear him yelling: " Stabbers, those Stabbers" I had taken a WCS with me and lived to fight another night in space. Bellator Militaris The Wild Bunch. Happy Birthday EvE

Happy 4th birthday EVE.. Its an amazing experience.
I dont have a single best moment.
Worst Moment - this happens every night. "(info) Dear players, the servers are down for one hour each day for maintenance and updates. The daily downtime will begin in 5 minutes at 11:00 GMT. The servers will be back up again one hour later. Please make sure your characters are out of harms way before the servers close"
Please fix this - it seems to occur all too often. I want keep playing your wonderful game....
