Hmmm.... For me it was buying a Bestower. I'd been mining in an Imicus I believe. Losing valuable time due to running back and forth in endless trips to the station. Now I could fill a jet can and go back and fetch it all in a few trips!
The next best thing was buying that Osprey!!
And this was back when a busy night was 3500 people logged on. So finding systems with giant veld roids and nearly no ore thieves wasn't that hard.

I still remember the first time I got podded....
I went into 0.4 space and didnt know the dangers of going in to low sec. The player pirate Cre Mavrel (Yeah I still know his name) destroyed my Executioner in a Megathron with a whole of drones less than a week from starting the game. I was an awsome sight until I got podded...

I love the fact that when I started playing Eve the big target was that it might, one day, get as many as 10,000 simultaneous online players and now whenever I log in it's as much as 3 times that and barely ever below it
Best moment was probably in the first few weeks - being sent 32 jumps away for a mission (in a Bantam) to collect some garbage and move it 3 jumps further into low sec space for just enough cash to get me into a Kestrel and start living the Elite-small-independant-trader-fighter life. Flying my shiny new Kestrel back to Lontrek completely underfitted and getting shot down by 2 m0o cruisers, in the days when they were just beginning to establish themselves as the most feared pirate corp in the galaxy. I lost virtually everything I owned in a few short seconds, hated m0o with a fiery passion, and still felt like Eve was the best game I'd ever played

EVE Online to Launch May 6th! EVEOnline - 3:01 PM PDT That's tomorrow, folks: Today is our last day before EVE's release to the world.
We have been beta testing EVE since August 31, 2002. This has been a learning experience and the game has gone through extensive redesigns, fixes, trials, and tribulations. We thank you all for your contribution during this period.
Today in EVE we are experiencing "Armageddon Day" - where anything is possible. All character skills have been set to level 5, your wallet is swollen with 500.000.000 ISK. Battleships, cruisers, and all the modules you could ever want are for sale on the markets - feel free to join the crowd on Tranquility tonight for the ultimate beta experience!
In less than 24 hours, the new Tranquility universe will be online, wiped and clean from any player infestation. Yet shortly after 09:00 GMT tomorrow, a wave of hungry galactic seekers will pour forth into the new universe, spreading their capitalist dreams and dominating the weak. There will be horrible wars and bloodshed, as massive military equipment is churned out of every available piece of heavy industry. Large corporations will enforce their own, twisted "laws" -- taking advantage of any poor souls who happen to venture unknowingly into their domain.
Destruction and reckless abandon. And you all helped to create it!
WAY TO GO!

Thanks for the creators of the game for the fantastic universe we have as our sandbox.

everytime I got called a bad name for liberating poor Ore all over Empire space. still some of the best hate-mail I have ever gotten.
everytime I got called a bad name for simply existing as a member of the Privateers.
Thanks for making a great and colorful game. Everything a MMORPG should be. I played Tradewars2002, Everquest and Starwars Galaxies like a drug. I enjoy this current drug called EVE as much as any of those.

Wow, 4 years. I've only known about the game for a little over a year, but from the second I heard about it I was hooked.
I don't have a single most memorable event, as the entire game has been a wonderful experience. I think it says a lot that this is the only MMOG I've stuck with for more than a couple weeks.
Happy birthday EVE Online.

3 contenders for me...
1) First ever pvp fight (obviously) as I foolishly came to engage pirates in 0.0 with my 2 mates. Don Carn'age pwned our rifter gang with his inty... creepy
2) Hate mail from someone who sold me a vaga for 260k
3) Being attacked by enemy pirates at the gate , jumping into an antipirate camp , and being shot by both... making it back to the gate with my mega in structure phew.

Still, my fav. moment on Eve was when a few corpmates and I killed an ore thief in Jita.
This was back when Jita still had ice, I was about 2 months old. Were were sitting there jetcan mining when Ryctor came up and stole from our jet can. Well, my courageous CEO was not to fond of thieves so he warped back to the station to get a smartbombing Raven. While he was away the other corpmate and I were trying to kep the guy from warping away. "Why you are taking our stuffs? Please stop." "I'm going to put some ice in the can and you won't take it, right?" then local errupts in the debate of if thieves are back or we are noobs. Well, we try to prove that we are noobs by keeping up the act. "Our friend has a CNR and he's gonna come kill you" "He won't get killed by CONCORD because they like him" "Ok, you can scoop our ice, but you need to give it back to use at the station." Finally our CEO returns and while cloaked sneaks up to Ryctor. The CEO uncloaks and set up us the bomb and we had one dead theif. Granted, we lost the Raven to Concord, and my client lagged so when I came out of warp my ship blew up (still not sure how that happened) and my pod went so I lost a full set of +3s and a barge, but being able to pwn that guy was so worth it. I remember vividly the day the blue text of TomB appeared in the recruitment channel saying "Looking for corp" I almost died :D I still keep the screenshot of him hanging out in my corp for an hour and the squeals of delight from people in the alliance. One offered to give me kids :).. Sadly I biomassed my character in a fit of emo a few months ago, so I don't play any more.

For me there have been many memorable moments like being part of an event but also an incorp pvp op (1 vs 1 in frigates). In the end it was decided to gank the winner with a stealth bomber (i was the winner) but i managed to outtank it.
There have been many additions to eve which made playing alot more interesting (this includes complexes). I can still remember going into my 1st one a drone complex in abudban in my maller, drones where kinda bugged back then and moved with 1+ km/s and where very hard to hit with guns so i decided to use smartbombs. This worked well ... till i encounted another player within my smartbomb range.
Still makes me smile and think back to that time when i see someone smartbombing and then getting concorded because they hit another player or his drones (still happens frequently these days ).

Jeez, this game is 4 years old eh? There's a cool thought...
Most memorable experience for me would be ganking the ceo of a pirate corp with cruisers an t2 frigs, an then his friends warp in on us in t2 cruisers and send us on our way

Can't realy choose a single moment but a few highlights would be.
The "OMG this is huge" feeling my first day.
Fleet battles between FA and CFS back in the day when battles took forever and people where fighting all over the place, kinda miss the chaos fleetbattles was back then.
Getting to fly a Tyrant during the hardware test event.
First alliance tournament, the final was epic.
Must agree with Avon a bit though about a thread beeing a bit poor for a birthday.

meow 4 (almost) wonderful years, I still remember buying my first cruiser - Vexor - and the time it took to gather the money for it and the skillbook. But the feeling of flying the most tasty looking cheese doodle in the universe is something I won't forget easily.
Hope to be a part of another 4 years of kick ass gaming!
Keep up the amazing work and lots of <3 CCP and ISD employees - and ofc the great community!

Happy Birthday EVE \o/ 4 epic years of w00tness tbph
Welcome back Pann \o/ How long have you been lurking? I dont follow the forums too much anymore, didnt realise you were back.
Favourite Moment; Well the one that stayed with me longest is Ninja Mining Arknor in 0.5sec I think, in ibises, less than 24 hours after the game went live . Dodging those evuhl belt pirates who were actually a threat back then - The proceeds for that went towards buying the one of the first badger blueprints in the game - and the mining/trading that was done to acquire the minerals. After that it was Mining in Jita with a good friend in the first badger, one of, if not the first in the game I think, to make & sell the second, third etc.
First badger sale netted 10m isk!!
If there wass one thing I could wish for in eve - It would be that sense of wonder, amazement and sheer bewilderment that was felt when the universe first went live. It made me feel very very small; having been in the beta constrained to just one or two constellations & thinking that was pretty big :p There were just so many possibilities, now eve is starting to feel a little constrained.
Great times indeed over these years, eve has changed & developed an aweful lot but it still feels like home

Four years, two years older than my own daughter. :)
I have been with the game for two and a half year, joining just before EXODUS hit. It has been an incredible ride the entire time and I hope there will at least a few more good years still.
Most memorable event? Jumping my first ever megathron into Egghelende only 10 minutes after it came out of production only to find tiller and his crew camping and promptly blowing it away. As for EvE... After the EA disgrace of EnB's fall I was passed a link to EvE. Trialed it and been here ever since.
From humble beginings mining for my 1st BS (**** you looser griefers BDCI) all the way through to now as the new co-CEO and wondering where to take CLS now. Its been fun.
Now... Fix the bugs. Stop the crap going on... and lets have the old feeling back in eve.

This is easy - The very first time I entered 0.0 and got podded. I was crying in local like a little girls as they were destroying my Scorpion (which I though then was indestructible) and then I realized I wasn't breathing as my ship and pod got destroyed so I almost passed out on the keyboard!
I got so angry I was seriously considering logging on this character and transfer the bastards into Jovian space!
Since then I have enjoyed doing the same to many of you
So maybe I am still a bit upset about this - Doctor, I have some anger issues...

Most memorable was my first ever day in my current character. Oiginally i had a char who stayed in 0.0 but i couldnt keep him past the trial so this char was created later, i joined the corp i knew before and my first ever trip when i was about 4days old in game was from oursulaert to The Fountain region which was just funny as i was in a noob ship and was escorted by two of my friends in thorax's. very fun adn very scary but still the best experience.
Well to end on HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVE ONLINE \O/

\o/ Happy birthday eve :D
Couple things really,
Getting my first pvp kill solo in my pilgrim by killing a maller, was shaking so much i barely managed to engage the drones and scramble him
Second was when in Quantum Industries we had to put outpost up over the weekend, and logging back on to tranq to see it there this pile of rusting minmatar glory Never had such a feeling of being so proud abotu something in a game before/since. Made having like only 5 hours sleep the entire weekend worth it, plus dragging it to eso from empire with just me/uni/andros and menth all near enough falling asleep on ts at 5am in the morning
Ok i lie another :P Joining my first ever PVP corp ROA such an eye opener was unreal, and good to be playing the game how it was meant to be ever since
