Like many others I think this is a terrible idea.
Maybe if the contract system had more functionality that others have already mentioned, then maybe...
I will absolute miss being able to run an auction or bid from work where I do not have access to the game.
I can't imagine how this was very well thought through. This doesn't by chance have anything to do with the new economics guy? By forcing everything into contracts it forces everything into a unified economy. I'm just wondering because the WTS/WTB forums could be considered a somewhat separate economy or at least affected by forces not registered in game.

Closing these forums are BAD M'Kay.
Contracts are far from ready to replace the forums fuctions and I really hate to search for that one item between all those scamm Buy orders..
The forum was a nice scamm free place to buy and sell.
And why close it without any warning up front ? Where you afraid of the negitive reations ?? well you will get them anyhow.

Uhm can't register as i can't get the cookies further out so i can't see the code which i need to enter 
And no don't tell me can't go round my neighbourhood Server which has set rules and can't get his settings changed....i don't use any filters or stuff.....so maybe change that

You now need to correct a few things before doing this:
1) Have a place for people to advertise services such as alliance and POS creation services. (props to hardin for alliance creation)
2) Have a way to see the historical price of big ticket items.
3) Make SURE that EVERY faction and officer item is listed in the market!!!!!!!!!!
4) Create more types of contracts. I would like to have a contract that gives a user some isk, materials, and a BPO for a deposit, and they give back the built materials and BPO to get their deposit back.
5) Have a way to set a contract for something that cannot be docked.
Please think more on this. Otherwise I think the traders lounge would be happy to pick up the slack.

Let me guess...
One of your 'Rocket scientists' believes shutting down these particular forums will be the silver bullet that kills all the bugs.
This idea is even worse than EVE Voice, nice one CCP, another outstanding failure.

I take it that's something custom coded? Why not use vB / IPB. Would look / work a lot better imo.

Such a bad plan.
There is so much stuff you can't sell on the contract system.
Shares & Services to name 2 off the top of my head.
Plus using the contract system is so utterly limiting, you loose the bargin hunting nature of these forums.
Is the plan to actually get us to use only contracts or really just to push us onto another site to do the same thing we do here? But without the excellent rules and moderation you supply.

ok....so I now will have no place to find info on who will supply services out of game (kb hosting, sigs, etc) that have an affect on my ingame activities.
oh wait....i also won't be able to find out what corps/alliances are now offering shares and research those opportunities?
This is STUPID! Whoever thought this wasa a good idea obviously doesn't actually play EVE. Or if he does, is so bad at it that he can't afford to use the trade forums to buy high end mods and ships so he decided that if he can't do it no one else can.
Please change your minds on this CCP....stop taking fun activities out of the game.

This is a monsterously bad idea. I do use the contract system but itÆs still pretty basic, awkward and slow to navigate. It allows no room for renegotiation without completely recreating the contract, thereÆs no way to promote or expose your contracts (other than spamming Jita localà) and there are items and services that cannot really be contracted - supercapitals, research jobs etc. No-one wants to have to trawl through countless freeform contracts to find what theyÆre looking for, which probably wonÆt even be there anyway. Even with your bloody awful forum search options, which are by the way disgraceful in 2007, taking away the trade forums is making a bad thing worse.
Finally, in case you hadnÆt realised the blisteringly obvious: if you really, REALLY want to **** people off, a great way to do it is to take away a widely-used service without consulting them first. Two-thumbs down on this one I'm afraid.

Dont mess with my trading forum. I understand you wanna get more on contracts. But for love of god, dont remove the problem, fix it.
Make a rule saying that ites which can but put on contracts, cant be sold on the forum.

Removes the ability to use sniper rules.
Removes the ability to offer services.
Removes the ability to sell stuff not accepted via the contract system.
Increases load on the contract system.
Harder to use.
IPOs? Selling in the Market discussion now is allowed for them? Or you just screwing them over completely.

Gotta add my voice to the pile. Unless the very valuable gameplay elements which the forum provides, as listed by my oh-so-vocal-yet-capable cohorts above, are replicated reasonably in game, we'll all just move to a third party site.
And if Chribba is hosting such a site, I'll tell you right now, that's the one I'll use.
GYPSY-LIKE PREDICTIONS OF THE FUTURE
1. Trade forums close down
2. Several new alternative sites pop-up (SHC, Eve-Files, lots of little ones)
3. One of them gains prominence and the others disappear (think: history of eBay)
4. CCP realizes that every player in the game is going to Chribba (for example) for these services
5. CCP reopens forums, since they might as well stay home on eve-online as all be going somewhere else
Let's save time on this, and leave the forums as they be. :) |

Currently no other forums are customized to use the API key.
I see chribba being able to make a buy / sell order marketplace, using API keys.

Bah, the ingame contact system is a piece of junk compared to the forums. 
Yay for another poorly thought out idea, please do tell me though, how exactly are people supposed to sell services, boosters and ships that cannot dock now? Guess nobody at CCP thought about that did they... of course not...

I can agree with it but you need some extra stuff added for this tho..
1. sniper rule for auctions
2. we can choose the increments of ingame auctions
3. i stil think a few cosmos items are still missing on conracts when searching for exact item (not 100% sure)
4. Some sort of add forum, since some people sell strange stuff or just want to advertise what they have without never been seen between the other gazilion contracts...
5. More detailed search: like i wanna see all t2 bpo's, now i have to type in exact what i'm looking for or put things in the description, not everyone names it right or some use a funky name
If that can be added/fixed then it's all dandy i guess

Chribba, thanks for offering to supply a simple forum for the sales of good and services CCP's contract system refuses to sell.
If you're going to the sales forum you need to make sure the contract system is NOT restricted. Just as a drug dealer sells to customers a contract is loosely created, however you can't put any drugs, boosters on the market or contract system.
Why did CCP add Boosters if there is no way to sell them... Well done and might I say wonderfully planned. [/sarcasm]

Hmmm, so the Contract system is in it's mature and full-featured state? Not even close, if you think it will support not only the load, but also the needs of the community. Number one, you've eliminate offline trade completely. I don't know how many items have been bid on/purchased while people are unable to logon to the game for one reason or the other. Number two, Contracts are such a painful interface when dealing with large numbers of items. Contracts cannot support line-item bidding, which numerous auctions here are. They also cannot support dutch auctions, which I have seen a few of. Nor reverse auctions. Contracts can't support auction reserve prices. How are people supposed to auction items/services that aren't currently allowed on contracts?
All in all, although you have the right idea, now is not the time to implement it, imho.

I dunno what the **** to think  did CCP got took over by the stupid neanthertals in Goonswarm , did someone in CCP felt the need to flop his E-***** around EVE ?
This is the worst thing you ever done so far and personaly i'm geting more and more sick of this bullcrap : sever whide lag , crash after crash , stupid NOS changes , chickend out stealth removals (traking).
I'm geting the feeling that the IQ of some CCP employes is droping in the sewer .

What abbout the items that are not in the contract system? How can we access those then? For example i tried to do a search for a 'Whelan Machorin's Ballistic Smartlink' in the contracts and i got no options in the search filter for that. How can I find such items cause im sure thers more of them? (Waiting for new patches might be bit too long)
