All I know is that the people in charge of these decisions are drinking heavily and snorting coke out of a hooker's ass at the moment.
At least, I can only hope that's the reason for this.
Or, maybe they want one of us to make a funny video about them with modified 300 clips.
"This is blasphemy... this is madness..." "This is... EVE ONLINE!!!"

So now a private individual has to support and pay for something we previously paid a company to provide for us as part of a game, something that we could reasonably expect to have been maintained as it served a useful purpose and was well lioked, and did not impact game balance....hmmm....you have not replaced it's function with contracts, they do not work the same, thus you are removing valuable game functionality that is enjoyed by a large part of your customer base.
You have not addressed any of the actual points raised here amongst the general bad feeling ;) a little customer care goes a long way when people are upset, especially when those people are paying your salary ;)
If you're short of moderators ask for more moderators, don't shut down the only part of the forum that was actually a meaningful read

This is CCP's response to an outcry from the people who pay them to play? Whatever Happened to "The customer is always right"?
I think that CCP is out of line to basically say "someone has taken their time to make their own forum, so just stfu and use it, stop hassling us"..wtf?

According to this source, CCP is moving all moderation in-house. They'll have fewer mods, and the trade forums generate by far the most threads, all of which have to be checked at least once.
If this is true, it would have been a lot more honest to mention it sooner.

So with other words you say: we don't care to support Eve with any out-of-game means, just pay us your **** money and shut up and search some other communities who supports you.
Good to know, actually I think the millions of dollars you invest(ed) in advertisment are completely wasted with such an attitude.
If you cannot even run a simple forum for the most important centerpiece of Eve, the player driven market, then you are really at your end.

Hey CCP why don't you just do what Mythic/GOA did with the European Dark Age Of Camelot forums?
Shut them totally.
Ya see, GOA realised that having official forums for an MMORPG just gave people a place to moan and whine and call for nerfs and they decided that this was bad publicity for their game. So they closed them. Permanantly.
Soem website called BarrysWorld made new forums for DaoC-Europe which the occasional GOA employee posted on and that was that.
It's the perfect solution - let Chribba host all of these forums, for free. Stop having to waste dev time posting blogs telling us what's going on, just let us find out for ourselves. Stop wasting money paying forum moderators or community liaisons, cos clearly you don't give a **** about the community haha.

Actually, the timing is perfect for the following scenario:
Mods: Umm, boss? CCP: hmm? (minimizes Bioshock window) Mods: We gotta talk. I'm not gonna be around much for a while CCP: Hmm? Why? Mods: Well, I've got a sick...little sister. And she needs a Big Daddy to take care of her... CCP: Okay (maximizes Bioshock window) I think I get it. How can I help? Mods: Can we close a forum or two, to ease up on the workload? CCP: Well, CAOD is... Mods: pure hilarity, I know. But we get many more reports about scams from the Market forums, then we have to some due dilligence, trace records...it's a lot more work than just banning for profanity. CCP: Very well...Fiat! Mods: Oh, and about next week...I've got, umm, a new girlfriend from out of town, her name is Samus... CCP: I don't have a wii. Don't push your luck.

CCP, will you give me the number to your dealer? He sure must be selling some damn strong stuff!

Its better then any alternative. Its basically what we will get with Chibbas. He's not going to have the time to mod it himself.

Now CCP themselves, the announcer even, is telling people to use a THIRD PARTY SITE to partake in a section of forum WHICH WAS PERFECTLY FINE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Are we going to have third parties answering petitions or running the server in the future just to save ISD or ccp a little moderation.
There are plenty of people which would happily moderate the forum for NOTHING IN RETURN

This is utter b*llsh*t!
You have to be kidding, are you actually trying to ruin the game???
The servers don't even ****ing work!!
Do you really think people will just put up with this crap and carry on paying the subs?
You are making some of the dumbest decisions in MMO history! Are you sure you haven't been bought by Sony??

I can't wait until we have to code the game ourselves. We already have to do the testing, host forums, develop third-party apps to fill feature gaps, punish macroers, staff the RP acting group, staff ISD ... why not just hand over the keys to the code? Maybe then we can shoot down silly changes like heat and compression nerfs.

So this is again effort to start pushing ppl to do more pew pew? Then seed all the modules / ships etc to NPC stations for sale. More than ****ed right now, better to shut up and turn off the PC.

I would like to say that I think the contract system is a good system, but these forums served as a location (at least for the corp I'm in) where we could find work that was outside of our current region. Without having to spend hours traveling from region to region and viewing contracts.
One way I can think of that would be easy to settle this would be to give us the ability to search the galaxy on a wider basis than simply by region. Allow us to search by constellation. |

They are talking about using the Eve API Key to authenticate people, that should hopefully work. But there will still be problems with bumping, ranting, trolling etc.

Ahh, amoungst the outrageous (and totally, IMO, childish) rants in this thread are some good ideas for improvements to the in-game contract service or an alternative auction type website (based upon an ebay type model be good).
It's interesting how everyone gets on their high horses and slags off CCP etc- before knowing the full story, or if there is any replacement for these forums coming...
Essentially, by selling through the forums (hell, I've also done it) we avoid taxes etc in-game. You are b**ching because you'll make less profit etc if you have to sell expensive items through contracts- SO WHAT! Welcome to the real world...try telling your stockbroker that you want an alternative to paying his fees....
I'm awaiting official word on improvements/alternatives...if there are none, I'll join the rest of you
