I surmise from the reduced activity in this thread, that most peoples connection problems have been solved since Apocrypha?
For the record: mine continue exactly as before.

I have had this issue for about 3 months now, I and my roommate play and we both drop at the same time, changed routers, and modems, tried everything suggested here with no luck.

Edited by: Palolko Dwimer on 14/03/2009 01:18:19 Well, i installed apocrpypha today and i am experiencing lot of problems with connection. Before, i had some disconnects now and then, but nothing really bad. Now, i am getting socket closed notification after 2-3mins in game. I am running vista x64 on Virgin 20MB cable, Sheffield area. Jeeesh, any ideas?

The "reduced activity" is coming from the thread getting buried by other patch-related occurrences combined with the increasing frustration we're all feeling at this thread seemingly being ignored for months devoid of any official response.

Well about all it seems you can do is what everybody else has done, run pingplotter submit a bug report. To me it looks like it has somthing to do with telecity. Maybe I am crazy but when I was living in Georga I did not have this problem, come back to Minnesota and I can't stay logged on for more then an hour max, I average more like 20 minutes tho. Fyi the dev response to this issue is on page four, and on page 15 PaddyPaddy has listed the fixes some people have come up with.

Curiously, as of 1h before DT today, my connection issues seem to of cleared up. For the first time in almosdt 2 months I have managed to make it past the login screen and stay in-game for over 30min.
Lets see how long it holds up.

It seems that whenever I am not interacting with the client, I get a socket error almost immediately. For instance, if dock up in a station and go afk for a couple of minutes, 9/10 I come back to a socket error. In fact, I just docked up and logged on to the forums to look for a solution, and in the time it took me to find this thread, and write to this point, I got another socket error. This has been happening since QR came out. It has been happening on different internet connections all around the world. I'd really like to know why it hasn't been fixed yet. ------------ Improvize. You know, all these blue tags for new issues and still no love or recognition for this "old" thread is becoming pretty frustrating.

Maybe they only respond to certain threads once. Anyhow, I changed my port to 26000 and I'm not in empire so I don't have the lag/disconnect as often anymore.. even though the problem IS with Eve/Telecity.

My issue seems to be around session changes, ill often log in to an account and then disconnect while its loading the station interior after ive selected my char, on sunday it took about 6 attempts per character to get in and stable enough to change skills. once i manage to get into the game it seems that anything with a session change will disconnect me.
Undock = d/c, dock = d/c, jump through a gate = d/c, change ships = d/c. sometimes warping to a grid that contains a station or gate will disconnect me (only about half the time).
its very frustrating that i attempted to move an orca through highsec, it took me about a dozen disconnections and then several subsequent reconnection attempts to move 3 jumps.
no "socket closed" error just a lovely popup saying "connection to server lost". should i be looking at my isp to blame? im with sky in the uk. We come for our people |

Didnt know there are so many people with same problem 8-0
There was random disconnects some time ago, but they were happening after some period of inactivity, but yesterday (16.03.2009) everything changed...
HOLY F**K, i can`t play this way, I JUST CAN`T!!! I getting disconnects every 2-5 minutes. Yesterday i took a solo ride on interceptor through 0.0 and was kicked from game on every gate! Thank god i did not meet any hostile gangs, but way back to home took crazy amount of time.

Happened to me this morning as well, and considering I have to mine 20 units of mission ice,you can imagine how much the disconnection is annoying me.

Well the GMs answering my petition believe the issue to be related to the server along the route with the large packet loss, and basicly told me Im on my own. Understandable I supose, it aint their fault.
My ISP provider tell me the same: "Sorry, not our fault,we aint fixing it etc..."
So I ran a WhoIs on the server with the packet loss, and emailed the contact associated to it. Voilß, 5min later everything was awesome, no packet loss registerd by Pingplotter, no DCs, no socket closed. I actualy managed to play EvE for the first time in over 2months.
But of course it was not to last. The next day I got a few DCs. The day after, the problem is almost back to the same (although now the "pingplotter fix" works for me). Pingplotter shows the same packet loss again, socket closed occur every 20-30min (specialy when loading a grid or at a sesion change).
So, seems to me that pretty much confirms the problem is along the route. WHo can one pressure to get this fixed?

I accept that a bad internet might get things a bit worse but i dont believe ccp is clean of guilt too, it only happens to eve afterall and i never ran pingplotter before this thing started to happen so i dont know how it was.
I tryed an experiment, in same computer 2 diferent ISP, the one with higher packet losses (2mb dsl), all hops with losses and one of them got to almost 70% and kept me all the time logged to eve with 2 accounts. The one i have at home (4mb cable) with only one of the hops with 35% packet losses cant keep me logged with even one account. Im completly lost about what to do |

i also installed pingplotter ... nd woohoo 0% packet losses -.-! and i still get no response to my petition !!!
1 week left before i cancel my accs forever and uninstall eve ... it sucks hard to be a part of eve since 5 years and get so defrauded ...
bump!!!

I am also having the same problem. Socket errors. The server gives up sending anything to my client then I get a socket error. This appears to be a server side problem as it happens in heavily loaded mission running locals and has only started happening since the expansion.

Adding another "me too" - I run two clients on the same PC and have been experiencing random disconnects. There is no other activity on my internet connection (I run Cacti to monitor bandwidth usage on the line). In every case one client continues running fine, and the other gets dropped. ~60% of the time it's at random points, other times when jumping through a gate.
I've noticed when using EVE-Voice in the corp channel, my character disappears from corp (from the perspective of other players) but I am still able to communicate with others using EVE-Voice (presumably as EVE-Voice is using different servers run by a 3rd party?).
Most annoying, and it seems to have got worse since Apocrypha was released tbh |

I'd just like to add that I am also experiencing this problem, I get "Socket Closed" a few times over the course of a day's playing. It doesn't actually really bother me, I get cut off for plenty of reasons anyway (Unreliable internet connection and nothing I can do about that) but felt I'd just add my name to the list of people it happens to.
I can tell the difference between my internet ****ing-out and an EVE socket-disco because when one happens EVERYTHING gets cut off for a min or two, when the other happens only EVE dies and I can reconnect instantly.

This is still happening. I just had 1 account ctd to socket closed then the other 20 minutes later. Ran a trace route and what do you know stupid telecity is the root of the problem.
