This just doesn't work. Yes I can set the fleet open to self invite for corp members. But then it's a dead end, no way (and I tried for 30 minutes) is it possible for a corp member to self invite himself to an existing fleet (which is the purpose of it all). The patch notes description doesn't make ANY sense after the part that stated that you can set an fleet to self invite.
You have to have someone in the fleet right click on his own name in the chat channel and choose an option that will send a link to that channel. When someone else in the channel clicks the link he will join the fleet.
(haven't actually logged into eve since the patch but someone posted that somewhere)

Ok, that makes more sense to me. But that still keeps the problem there of self invite not being usable between friendly corps that hang out together without having the ties that an alliance has.
Also does not really cover the expectations that the 'self invite' raises. It's more like a open invite witch an acknowledge from members that are in same chat channel to start with. Personally I expected to log on, press a button and be in a fleet if there was one active. And if multiple were, an option to pick one. This feature does not seem to offer anything for slowly growing gangs as one of the members will still have to re-broadcast the invite in a channel for new logged on players to also come in.

Edited by: Kerfira on 13/03/2008 22:48:34 Tbh, I think everyone knowing anything about proper software development processes who read the reason for the one day postponement (needing more testing) knew this was going to end badly with lots of untested software and features. If you on the day of deployment suddenly realise you need more testing, you just DON'T need 'just one more day'. It just doesn't happen!
If this patch had been properly developed and tested, a few WEEKS before planned launch a release candidate with a frozen feature set would have been on Sisi to test. It would then have gone through one or more test cycles before being proclaimed ready for release. Instead, it seems like new fixes were added up to the last moment, which is a sure recipe for disaster.
CCP really should get some software PROCESS professionals to look over how they develop their game, because what they're doing now seems to be software hacking, not software development.

Probably I was amongst those lucky ones... yay, my settings were intact. Nevertheless, it seems that patch was released in half-ready state at best.
Not speaking about various issues, just want to say that new overview, while "thought-to-be-nice" is horribly unintuitive and apparently buggy. For example, by default it was that you see drones in space, but not in overview. That is gone, no drones at all. Seems I found a way to restore this, but it is so cumbersome... While mission now is cluttered with brackets for walls, lookout towers, you name it, and I still have not found a way to remove them from space view.
And - I understand, CCP was busy adding all those half-finished features, but damn it, did they have not found a few minutes to remove veldspar from "default" overview ? That glitch stays from Trinity ...

This isn't, because I fully expect someone to make an IGB app for this or I'll do it myself

HinAll,
Finally managed to get Evemon running under Linux and what happens?
The EVE API Servers are down for days. Bad enough I couldnt keep the character training skills that I had bought 32 books for. Now I cant even log in to get him to keep training them.
One hour downtime for patch takes a day and a half (2 days maybe) and then with only limited functionality...
And they take the API servers down.
How are people going to talk on their corp messageboards without API authentication?
Way to go to encourgae new users...
NO wonder old people eventually give up on Eve - they get frustrated by the days (and longer by the tone of the posts here) that it takes it implement and fix the problems in "Upgrades".
I suppose the question is: What other Space based MMORPG's are out there for us to turn to?
Regards,
Jason Brisbane

Hey there. I have had a few odd things happen today.
Most importantly I have had EvE kill off Windows two times today. One of the times I was with a friend of mine and he had the same thing happen to him at the exact same time.
The other I was flying alone out of a fleet.
I get a blue screen with a message that Windows has shut down to prevent damage to the machine. It is a pretty scary screen and I have never seen it before today. It requires me to restart the machine.
Of course this makes me a bit wary about combat and missions and the like.
Sometimes when I jump to a new system the ship will warp off a short distance to nowhere in particular when I exit on the other side. that has happened only twice today , mind.
Lastly I have noticed that all the character portaits are gone and Some portraits come back naked when I click on them... that is what I was doing the second time I got blue screen in space.
The critical failure bit concerns me , but the pictures and needing to go through my settings is a minor thing. Some of it seems to have survived and some it has not.
But those blue screens has just happened today .. the day after the patch. and once on two different people in different towns at the same time. My friend had never seen that problem till today either.

Edited by: Tareen Kashaar on 14/03/2008 00:32:18 There are numerous UI issues currently:
1. Overview addon windows - drones, fleet, broadcasts - reset to their default positions every time you undock.
2. Snapped windows, when restoring them after having been minimized, potentially push those windows that were snapped above them off the top boundary of the screen, leaving no option to move, pin/unpin or close those windows.
2. Overview state filters still only work according to programmer logic, but not usability logic - you know, taking out neutrals and -10s to only show wartargets, etc. What do I mean? If I check "Pilot is at war with you", I expect it to show pilots at war with me. I don't expect it to hide everything I uncheck, I expect it to show everything I check. In the same vain, if I take neutrals off my overview, I expect to still be able to have stargates on my overview. Either way, a simple option for prioritization would fix this - just let us order the hierarchy of state checks, like you do with appearance.
3. Overview tabs are a great idea, but as it stands, very poorly implemented. - You are limited to 6 tabs.
- Loading a new setting in one tab via the little triangle menu, switching to a different tab and switching back to the previous tab resets its overview setting [for reference: "overview setting" as used here = saved set of filters and states] to the one that is set as its default.
- Loading any kind of overview setting into the default tab, switching to a different tab and switching back to the default tab resets the default tabs overview setting to whatever you last manually configured; i.e. whatever you last edited in your overview settings window. Read: It is not possible to load a new "default" into the default tab, neither through use of the triangle menu, nor through configuring a default in the overview settings window.
- The default tab cannot be renamed
4. Window stacks still reset their pinned/unpinned state when new windows open within them, for example: when joining a fleet, fleet chat pops up in a pinned chat window stack, that window stack is unpinned. Same with other windows.
Seriously, after trying to get these tabs working properly for an hour or so, I'm in a really bad mood now. You should really consider hiring a proper interface designer.

New glitch: Icons have disappeared from overview. Thus I cannot see the highlighted gate in my overview to know where to warp to next when on a set course.

Originally by: JP Goodwin When I tried to patch to 51200 the patcher decided the CRC on one of my installed files was bad and told me to reinstall, and left me in a horked state. So after spending an hour downloading the full premium 51200 setup, I ran that, and it failed the verification. Now that was really annoying. So I'm presently trying to install the full install I had before, 45943, in the hope that I can then patch that to 51200.
Anyone else having similar problems?
yep - same CRC error here, tried original installer but that not working either so facing a 600mb odd download before I can find out what else isn't working anymore...

Most people on forums are stupid, the rest think they are clever but by posting on forums they themselves are stupid. Patch = fail, CCP = fail, EvE = borderline fail. All it's gonna take is one more stupid patch and EvE goes under *cough SWG cough*. That's what happens when little boys play with big boy's toys. Meh |

Use the test server when the new builds hit it. Bug Report your errors. It's that simple.
I already pay for EVE, I am not QA staff. I would love a job with CCP testing EVE, but unless and until they want to hire me that is clearly not my responsibility to test their game. And why even go on sisi when TQ is practically a release candidate server?

These problems happen every time there is any kind of patch. I don't see why you would try and spin this occasion as being any different. Just grow a pair and post more realistic assessments for the amount of downtime in the future. "It could be sorted by tomorrow afternoon or maybe tonight" Just doesn't cut it I'm afraid..

Eve is now sucking down my cpu, when the eve window is actively clicked cpu goes to 100%. When I click on another window making it active, cpu drops down to 45 - 50% depending on what is happening in eve. While warping into an asteroid field it goes from 45 to about 75% then drops back down to 45% after the warp has been completed. The following are frame rates I have been getting:
eve active window - 50 to 100 fps with 100% cpu usage eve not active window - 30 to 50 fps with 45 to 50% cpu usage eve docked in station - 140 to 150 fps with 100% cpu usage
Before this patch eve didn't always have 100% cpu usage while the window was active.

Less than impressed but I expected as much. Yet again CCP uses it's customers as beta testers. I no longer have any bookmarks to places I frequent or my collection of exploration site markings. No more safe spots, and no more overview settings. The standard faliure to deploy properly, poor response time, and lack of QA is hurting you. I know of more people who find this program a ***** than those who still enjoy playing with all of these stupid issues. It seems mission running is not important enough for ccp to get right the first time. Scripting some simple npc spawns can't be so difficult can it? You claim so many accolades being a popular 'game' so act like a popular game company and hire some QA, and take the time to inform your users. As a fellow developer I'm disgusted to come home from work and deal with stupid problems when all I want to do is play. I deal with enough stupid issues with computers at work. Fail.

Im running 2 clients at once (always have with no problems), now alt tabbing causes it to freeze when im switching between the two accounts but task manager says there both running. I have to quit both eve clients through the task manager.
All my IGB bookmarks were deleted
Creating a new tab in the overview is like rocket science.

Only problems here were the loss of ingame browser bm's and the pain in the ass of the Alt key function....perhaps it's not as widespread as you seem to believe.

There are other things that are messed up, overview/drone windows reseting, new tab feature not working like they're supposed to, market filters not working, etc etc.

Before patch I was at 45-25 FPS, now after patch with the same game settings I'm getting HUGE spikes in FPS when in station anyhwhere between 55 and 10. Depending on angle and lighting. When doing the mission I had 25 FPS at jump in gate, 20 FPS at first pocket and 4! FPS at the last (some 30 ships there i guess).
Hope this issue gets sorted, because the game is unplayable for me!
Tried installing latest Catalyst drivers, DirectX and cleared my Cache and Settings folder (Copied my old one to save bookmarks and such). STill having FPS drop.
Tried tweaking it, both from Catalyst and Ingame settings, got it to a stable 80FPS while in station, 30 FPS while flying around, but it still drops to below 10 when running a mission.... Its not a local hardware problem, theres some terrible coding when engaging NPC's.
