Edited by: She Storm on 13/03/2008 13:37:43 CONSTANT client lock ups when running more then one client ( I have been running 3 for 2 years now), can't dock in stations, can't undock from stations, can't seem to change shiops in stations, or there is up to a 3 minute lag to change ships.
I have locked up 11 time since the patch finished. Guess I will have to get rid of an account or 2, as i am not going to pay for 3 if I suddenly can only run 1
And the "leaving station at speed"...apparently doesn't work well as all 3 of my clients undocked and just sat right on top of each other at the station

I'm really sick of redoing all of these ******* little things because you guys can understand how to keep them from patch to patch.
You can't even figure out what's going to be included in the patch 24 hours prior to deployment.
This is really getting pathetic.

Just my 2c.
1. Stayed off the intermediate patches or whatever they were, patched the game only after today's regular downtime. 2. I run 2 clients, on Windows Vista Business, both updated succesfully from first try, no crashes or major problems noticed. 3. I run my 2 client on dual view and they work as intended (window mode on both) 4. Noticed some intense FPS drop, but nothing I havent seen before on other mmo's on major patch days, when server gets flooded with people trying to get in. 5. IGB bookmarks gone, but I normally use out of the game browsers, so no biggie for me. 6.The new help screen that appears on almost all windows opened is a bit annoying but playing on Sisi, I already expected that. 7. I had a good laugh at the PR gimmick you pulled with "no-nerf" patch, but hey, I work in a corporate world, I know devs gotta throw the PRs a bone from time to time, otherwise they dont stop nagging... 8. And finally, having my main characters as Caldari, I do appreciate the revamp of the old Ferox (now a decent hybrid platform as opposed to Drake's missiles) and Moa. As for resists, since they were slated all around... no comments.
Overall, decent job, though I missed my 100 pages long "bash CCP" forum thread during the downtime. Please dont take that away next time... some posts beat standup comedy by far. And I mean that in a positive way.

Programmer's JOB IS TO DEAL WITH FEW, MANY, WHATEVER millions lines of code. I'm doing it they should be able to do it too. If they can't, fire them and find someone who can. And stop making excuses for their crappy code, they had 5 years to improve. I guess they just don't have the right people.

friendly tip to CCP to keep bookmarks folders and settings :
Quote: mkdir ./settings move ./cache/settings/*.* ./settings/ rmdir /Y ./cache/settings
wouhou, i'm awesome, no?... so, can I have your job ?
seriously, this should one of the basics things to do during the patch or just after it at eve first launch ("if exist ./cache/settings/ then...")

Actually you are totaly wrong, I had settings in folders where I had my eve clients on disk d: using that /off something commends so that what you wrote earlier woudnt do anything. What you need is ... BRAIN Just copy settings from you folder with eve to folder which has been crated.

ok m8 got through testing and can run 2 clients on a 4GB rammed x64 but he's coming close to danger zones on mem - so anyone with a budget pc is gonna get ram-spiked into a crash. - ie anyone with a 32bit PC and 2 accounts is stuffed by this build. |

EXCEPT, by subscribing you've signed onto the EULA (which is the legal contract between you and CCP) meaning that you accept downtimes like this.
Thus it is YOUR logic that's flawed because you're getting EXACTLY what the contract between you and CCP entitles you to!

Something I have noticed.. when I run multiple clients and one locks up and crashes.. when i hit the windows key to go to windows.. I still see the eve "button" on the start menu bar.. it still shows the eve logo on it, but it no longer says EVE, it says "Microsoft Visual C++" on the button next to the eve logo .

Boost patch? They told that would be a patch just with BOOST??
LoL WTF? -10% exp Shield and -10% EM armor is "just a boost"???
With this stupid logic we should remove all turrets from the astarte, give a drone bandwith of 5 and nerf the cap regen to 1/sec, because so we boost every other ship fighting the astarte

Hmmm given you have lots of settings that got trashed.
Alot of settings not announced in patch yet seem to be with us.
Cache folder redone.
Your eve client after patch still got old hangovers from old cache etc.
So you have a client with alot of legacy cache etc, and settings alone dictated a fresh download and install, no brainer realy. Bit like this patch and its notes :(.

Yes I've seen that in one instance - When I killed one client via the task manager. The other client then also siezed up - but i found there were actually two instances of eve still on the taskbar, one of which was carry the c++ label. |

In EULA is written that they make no warranty.. so pls pay 1 year for and u should not complain if we dont enable u to play at all

Dont know if when UI is changed/upgraded its advisable to let users keep their own UI settings, unless you want 10x more complaints. Except for IGB bookmarks, but I assume thats the least of the problems the devs had. And, to be honest, I'd rather have them focus on problems like lag Jita than IGB. But of course, everyone has a right to an oppinion.
Regarding reimbursement for the downtime, it's a slippery slope and on every software license/EULA in this world there's a bit saying its delivered "as-it-is, with no guarantees" it will work. Otherwise we would live in a perfect world, hence we would all be dead and in Heaven. Doesn't Windows have SPs and patches? Doesn't each favour of Linux? Has anyone ever sued Microsoft for bugs in their OS? And a bad OS can really mess up your day...
After playing VG and EQ2 you get to appreciate FREE sequels, trust me. I've forked a lot of cash to Sony for the sequels (minor and major) and those were neither bug free nor perfect, although even more expensive that the original game. CCP's business model is much more fair to their users and they should be encouraged to keep it. Would you rather have forked $50 for Trinity instead of losing..erm...70c in gametime? I think not...
I'd compare this to smoking... if your pack would've been taken away and hidden for a day you'd be as mad as hell, too. If you'd go to the local shop and find out that your favourite brand has changed its flavour, you'd be mad as hell again. But in the end there are only two outcomes... either you give up smoking or you adjust to the changes.

Exactly!
YOU (and nobody else) are responsible for signing the contract, therefore YOU are the person to blame when you later encounter something in the contract you don't like.
It's ALL your very own fault! YOU are the one who complains that you don't get more than what you paid for.... Truly pathetic!

Besides the mess up with databases, good job. I have had zero problems and I am running windows vista ultimate 64bit. I still have every setting (as far as I know) and no graphical problems, the welcome pages are neat, though I am happy for the "do not show again" check boxes. Overall, good job.

I for 1 got lucky and only have a problem with pinned windows (the select window and my overview) being pushed off the top of the screen when the fleet window opens. In low sec this can be deady while reseting and re-pining.
I must say they will fix the problems we are having as fast as they can, they are after all human and no patch is ever 100%.
I do wonder why the Stealth Bombers cant use the Covert Ops Cloaking Device II as its description indicates its for frigate class covert ops ships and if this will be changed?
