Edited by: ZURAN 666 on 13/03/2008 08:45:48 Edited by: ZURAN 666 on 13/03/2008 08:45:04 I am using the Linux Client on a machine using Ubuntu 7.10. After the patch, I cannot see the portraits of people too clearly. The background shows up fine but the pictures do not. Also the Inside circle showing cap status is blank. When I hover my mouse over something that would give the black information bar thing it comes back only while the black information bar is on screen. Like when I hover over my ship and it says my name in that bar the capacitor grid is there. When I quit hovering it leaves and becomes black. Also when I am undocking and it says entering space. The status bar is no longer the oval that fills in like it used to be, but is now just a white rectangular box. The graphical improvements made for linux and mac clients is definately noticable and does look nice.
But one very small small criticism with the patch. It has been advertised as a patch without nerfing........what about the resistance changes for the raven? ;-) Kein Mehrheit Fnr Die Mitleid |

Edited by: Miter on 13/03/2008 08:53:02 Bookmarks are kept on server and unless they purposely decree that they are deleting bookmarks, they do not get removed. Bookmark folders are kept on the client side and get happily deleted anytime settings are lost, such as after each and every patch.
Hint: If you start the EvE client, and you don't see your account name offered at the login area -- Congratulations! You have lost all settings.

Pressing the dl patch button and immediately being presented with the verification failed message, only problem is the 18 meg patch never downloads it just spams that message, vista x64 if it helps.
Trying the manual patch now... -------------------------

Well I am not read 6 pages to see if someone else posted this.
My drone window keeps popping the right edge of my overview. When I launch my drones the window disappears and the reappears. All my in game browser bookmarks are gone. There is at least one agent hosed, but that said the error was logged and would be correct, anyways his name is Sistran Hednur. It was kind of a pain to get my drone to show up in space, had to try a trial and error of setting to get them to show up, but there is a large green square over them I am still trying to figure out to remove that.
Also I put in a petition 2 days ago and have not heard a thing back. I am totally surprised by this since the other 2 petitions I submitted where answered in less than an hours.
Happy to see the other "boost", though.

tl;dr
ccp fails again, nothing new there
and all you ppl out there, do what i do. When the patch deployment is announced, set a LONG skill and simply don't log at least a day AFTER the deployment. You KNOW it will take them few more days and a couple of minipatches to make things normal an playable again.
I mean, is it so ******* hard to install patch few times on the test server, and actually TRY it?
Bah. Thank go on team fortress 2

I'm attempting to leave a trail of breadcrumbs so others can get thier client working.
It seems that ''/end /LUA:OFF'' is looking for/saving config files in <EvEDIR>/Settings instead of <EvEDIR>/cache/Setttings.

This ... Rocked.
Login to EVE gone from 1 - > 2 min to 5 seconds, reduced lag ingame on menu's, no overview bugs (as mentioned before.) It's really just working so much better.
10/10
PS: You need to right click the individual tabs on the Overview and select overview setup for it to stay in place. Works for me at any rate.

Overall customer satisfaction: good
I like the fact that you actually learned something about communications. Notifications are now visible to people accessing your site. Splendid!
That been said, a few questions;
- why did the early version of the MOTD have info "it may take as long as until tomorrow" (or similar wording) and it was edited out? I found that "may ... until tomorrow" making it the BEST MOTD based info I have ever read - "OK, fine, no point staring at the screen, I will return to Eve tomorrow".
- It appears as if you haven't yet picked up on the idea of semi-regular informing... While the MOTD message containing the "long version" can stay, I bet there were still lots of people, especially those who didn't catch that "may ... until tomorrow", that would have appreciated, say once in 2 hours, droplets...
"Sorry, still nothing more specific available on ETA. Oh, btw, heard that the proble is item descriptions that got mangled in the update and those are being retrieved from backups" or whatever..
- Why do these messages not have a time stamp on them in the web page?
I like the disclosure here now, and posted once the situation has been cleared. I really do put a high value on this, and having a mistake like screwing item descriptions isn't making any credibility dents to the corp in my eyes - but telling about things builds respect and trust.
This improvement in communications is considered from my part a good one and very welcomed. I am curious thou, how laborous is it for your organization, and is costly (do you have to wake someone up for this or keep someone at work at night - or can you shift MOTD responsibility to your US office and then ...(?)) ...just thinking in regards what I mentioned about semi-regular info droplets...
Good good good, I approve. Thank You!
P.S. You did it again, didn't you? All my setting from all my clients are lost once again... arf.

That's because it's not a 'nerf', it's balancing, and there have been very good reasons given why this has been implemented. Quit whining and get on with it :p

I can't dualbox anymore since it causes my system to randomly lock up and no amount of ctrl+alt+del can bring up the task manager and at least let me terminate the process, hence I have to reset my system with the power button every time. General performance has gone down as well, I have worse FPS and can hear my HDD working all the time (dunno if this matters, but still it didn't happen before this patch).
Oh, while we are at it, the bug with the UI windows repositioning themseslves after relog/undock has been on sisi (and reported) for *weeks*. This, once again, speaks volumes about your 'we need players to test' and QA system.
Just fail, once again.

Horrible framerate on the classic client(5-15fps). Seems to be only in some systems. In other systems, the average frame rate appears to be around 32 fps, but seems to drop at regular intervals instead of random ones resulting in a steady lurching of the graphics. The visual representation of the fps (from ctrl-f) looks like a sawtoothed line. After reading all of these posts on this forum, I'm wondering if I'm going to regret paying for this game. I payed for my first month yesterday, and today post patching, the game is largely unplayable due to some graphical malfunction. Although it's fun watching a drone do a steady rhythmic stop and go routine, I think I could live without it.

OHHHHH!! I see. So, they have renamed "nerf" to "balancing". Thanks for clearing that up.
Not sure why they did that though tbh. "Nerf" is so much easier and faster to say.
In all seriousness though, just because you have "very good reasons" to gun someone down like a dog, doesn't change the fact that DOING it is still murder. Also, just like calling a pile of crap a "rose" doesn't make it smell any sweeter.
You want people to quit talking about it? Then maybe you should help to get CCP to stop NERFing stuff so we don't HAVE to talk about it. There is a concept: i.e. be part of the solution rather than just telling people to "shut up."
Bottom line: That is what CCP WANTS us to do here, give them our feedback about the patch. If people think it sucks, they should be free to say so. If you think its great, cool, say so. But, don't tell others to "shut up" just because you don't agree with them.
Last note, just kinda guessing here, but, uh, you don't actually FLY a Raven, do you?

Edited by: Icedwhite on 13/03/2008 09:39:58 I dont know if this is correct but i switch off tutorials through the esc > general settings menu. With the new patch I switched that setting off again, but I still get the tutorials like the one about cloning.
And undocking keeps changing my display settings.
EDIT: And turning off those "Welcome screens" does nothing for me cos they just come back like the tutorials.

The patch wrecked my settings...
Is it because I run all eve clients with the /end /LUA:OFF ? (to avoid cache mixing between different versions for tq and sisi...)
It's a bit annoying, but nothing too painfull, it's just a few minutes lost for overview, drone hotkeys, colors, channels...
At least, I didn't loose my IGB bookmarks! -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

As with every Patch I got to Download the entire client and hope that one of them is not corrupt.
One of the things i have learnt is wait 3-4 days after it is back up to get said Download cause it should have all the patches, covering the patches that are covering the patch.
Only one of My fellow Corp mate that i know in Real Life (There are 7 of us) has been able to get into the game so we been bugging him with logging in for skill changes
With only one day a week to play it gets annoying to have to find something else to play. But if future patches keep goin the way this one and al the others before it i'll go play something else. I wonder what WOW is like

Following rigs were supposed to get boosted: Warp Core Optimizer rigs: warp capacitor need reduction increased to -40% for tech 1 and -50% for tech 2 Energy and Hybrid Discharge Elutriation rigs: capacitor need reduction increased to -20% for tech 1 and -25% for tech 2 Ionic Field Projector rigs: max targeting range increased to +25% for tech 1 and +30% for tech 2
Unfortunately, they all still have the same statistics as before patch. (Bug report ID:54245)

Problems with restoring the game (fullscreen) after having it minimised here. Sometimes it's ok, but it seems that the longer I spend with it minimised, the more likely it is that when I click on it it just doesn't appear. Mouse disappears as if I'm in it, and ctrl-q will exit, so it hasn't crashed.

TLDR
really? was it really that long? a paragraph and a half is too long for you? or is that what you respond to logic with? you belong in WoW, the barrens awaits you... /sigh
b) thus far, I have had no problems patching, running the patch, setting overview settings, keeping windows in place (with the exception of my local channel moving to the top of the screen when something is glued to the top of it and i close the top window, mildly annoying at best), bookmarks (i don't do folders, too lazy, and i sort by system name so i can find things... and yes i recognize systems i frequent), fps drops, or alt+tabbing between two clients (running 2 instances of the same premium client in windowed mode on xp works fine for me). Haven't had time to mess with the boost (thank you CCP for boosting my beloved amarr ships, can the pilgrim be next plz?) or the "balance"...
all in all, too much whining, if you want to complain about deployment issues, too bad, it happens, thats life, **** happens (albeit with a competitent QA dept, not often)... new overview features require settings on the old overview features to be wiped so the work on the new features, otherwise you'd all be whining about that too... API keys would be nice, but i can live without them for a night, DB issues need to come first so everything that users are haveing issue with in game can be fixed, external things (i.e. API) can wait. set an alarm or something if you're really that worried about your skill finishing soon.
i wouldn't give the deployment a 10/10, based on all the issues arising, but a 7/10 is appropriate...i mean at least you can log in and all your skills are still there, right?

Yeah, see my post on page 4 about how you might get your settings back. All those folders have moved around it seems. I don't mind that, but it should have been at the absolute TOP of the patch notes. That is a BIG deal. I bet if you figured in windows colors, positions, sizings, bookmark folders, overview settings, I have 100+ tweaks in there.
FROM NOW ON CCP I WANT TO KNOW ANYTIME YOU TOUCH ANYTHING TO DO WITH SETTINGS FILES. Geez, this is getting old. I don't mind you improving things just put it in the ****'ing patch notes so we have some warning. I've now got shortcuts and multiple settings folders all over the freaking place from trying to sort that mess out.
And station environments seem to be getting loaded and rendered even if "Load Station environment" is unchecked. See my previous post for details. Off now to see if upgrading my graphics drivers gets me any fps love.
