Hi
As I understand it there is no nerf in this, but what about the missing 10% explosive resistance in shield, and -10% in EM resists Armor, in Minmantar ships (probably other races also), is that not considered a Nerf???

I am a fairly new player (2 months)who found/finds it rather frustrating that there is very poor communication about the status of the gameworld. I cannot even log in so I have no idea about how good or bad my experience will be with patch. I have no idea if the game is up or not. (message on login screen says server status is unknown). How hard could it possibly be to have a game status monitor somewhere on the main webpage that one could check to see if the game is actually up... or if it's a problem on my end.

To all the people whining about 'nerfs'....
Nerfing is a necessity in any game that develops over time, and I'll show an example why.
Say this game had 4 battleships, fairly well balanced. A game change is made that makes one of those much better than the others. Now, the game designer has 3 choices: 1. Do nothing 2. Boost 3 battleships (and all smaller/larger ships to balance them) 3. Nerf 1 battleship If he chooses #1 eventually everyone will fly only 1 ship, if he chooses #2 it'll mean massive changes (and inflation in things like damage values, resists etc, soon making the numbers silly), or if #3 is chosen it'll mean slight changes to one ship and keeping numbers relevant.
#3 is the logical choice if he wants to keep the game viable, so stop crying about it because the lot of you just show you have no knowledge about how to do game development
Of.c. if it was the other way around and 1 BS was made much worse than the rest, then a boost is in order. This patch is a reasonably good mix of boosts and nerfs as it should be for proper balancing.

I got a bug when I warped way from a belt, the rats stayed in my overview even though being 0.1 AU away, then I was unable to warp anywhere, couldn't even get 0.1 m/s, so i logged out and now when I try log into the character, not the account, it hangs at the Entering Game stage and won't get any further.

No, it is game balancing, and you're a whiner.... CCP's analysis showed that the resists were broken slightly, so they fixed it. Read the dev blog as to why.

Hi,
CCP it may be that your strategic approach needs re-evaluation. With one patch you have created many problems which you will now have to fix. Perhaps one patch at a time for the bugs that were present would have made more sense.
You seem to have taken something that wasn't broken and fixed it.

I must agree on this. I'm the type of guy who spends a lot of time setting up my interface just the way i want it, and now its gone on all clients. Even all my channels i joined. This is not satifactory! At least you could tell people in advance that your settings are gonna be wiped CCP, You should make it a priority to have a settings backup feature. I'm tired of redoing all my overview settings AGAIN! Not to mention all the channels i have to rejoin.

Just tested the ewar overview. This is really nice, but could we have either a seperate column for it or have the choice to freely move it around? For some of us it hides vital information like velocity or angular, when it stays like that. Only solution is currenty expanding the whole overview.

I'm usually the first and most loud complainer when things go wrong with a patch but this time maybe i'm lucky?
I havent had any of the problems experienced here so far. My windows have stayed where they were, my bm's (in their folders) are all there, my alt-tab works just fine tyvm, I can undock without problems (though I have noticed I end up many km's away now instead of just outside), all my planets/moons stay where they are without dissapearing and my bootcfg hasnt dissapeared either. I havent had a chance to re-fit my apoc so we'll see about that.
I hope they sort out the problems for the rest of you, I really do.

Well, it almost makes you think they really don't want to make the market UI any easier to use. Now it's great we don't have to change our 'range' and 'duration' settings nearly all the time (thanks CCP).... but then they screw it up by changing the sort order of the quickbar!
So I save some mouseclicks with the boost, but end up needing *more* mouselicks with the sorting change.
Thanks guys
So, patch feedback: please put the market quickbar sorting back to alphabetical like it was.

No issues with anything, i didnt even mind the 8 hours of training i missed (coulda stayed up till the servers went up at stupid o'clock but needed sleep).
Not your best patch deployment to date CCP, but alteast there were no repeats of the dreaded boot.ini

Crappy movies where you can not se what happens because they where shot with half-resolution is nowhere near as good a PR-thiny as full res. movies. Edited by: Xodd Hil on 13/03/2008 10:58:36 Let's see... bookmark all deleted, EVEMon not working, windows moving all around, chat windows not staying in their "title only" state (not the minimalized, the doubleclicked... worked before!).... And I didn't even undocked yet!
Oh, yes, alt-tab is waaaaay slower now!
Ah, and please, don't say that PR-laid "no nerf patch" after pulling a -10% resist on that many ships! It just gets on peoples nerves, and their trust in you (whatever little they have left) is going to evaporate slowly... that also means leaving EVE.

Edited by: Takeshi Yamato on 13/03/2008 11:06:57 My petition received an answer and was resolved in 10 minutes. Unfortunately there was no way I could say thank you to the GM so I'm writing it here.
On a side note: is there really no way to check the status and GM responses to one's petitions anymore?
Also: the new market functions are great.
As far as the rig changes go, the hybrid and energy turret rigs are still not desirable in my eyes simply because they are competing with ccc rigs which have no drawbacks and have a similar if not better effect on cap. Take away the drawbacks on Discharge Elutriation rigs and it should be good.

I find it strange that you object to CCP correcting their mistakes.... When you have a very complex system like EVE with a massive number of interactions between different functionality, changing something will have unintended and unforeseen consequences, thus requiring later changes to correct that. You (mistakenly) see this as a personal nerf of your stuff, whereas anyone knowing just a tiny bit about game design will see it as necessary balancing.
...definitely no Einstein lost in you....

Well the new undocking mechanic is a royal pain in the ass, it takes twice as long to get the freighter turned around and aligned towards my intended gate. All the other ships I tried it was ok, but I much prefered the old method.
If as was indicated by dev comments in other places, this change was to ease congestion at certain market hub stations, why not just have gone for the "easy" fix and rotated stations like Jita 4-4 Navy 180 degrees to the right or the left.
-- Also the market quick bar not being sorted alphabetically is a bit silly, and should be fixed ASAP. --

Others are getting this problem too. - Obviously a significant issue as it kills 'power of 2' .. However it is not universal it seems - we asked in two major hubs if others were having this issue. Pls feel free to evemail me if you are trying stuff, whether or not it achieves a fix. I will reply. |

Originally by: JP Goodwin When I tried to patch to 51200 the patcher decided the CRC on one of my installed files was bad and told me to reinstall, and left me in a horked state. So after spending an hour downloading the full premium 51200 setup, I ran that, and it failed the verification. Now that was really annoying. So I'm presently trying to install the full install I had before, 45943, in the hope that I can then patch that to 51200.
Anyone else having similar problems?
You likely have a problem with your pc's hard-disk that's corrupting your data slightly. This is normally due to age. It can also be caused by buggy drivers for your network or disk controller, or bad ram. Do you get any whole-pc crashes (blue screens, spontaneous restarts, freezes, etc, as opposed to just a program crashing)? They're generally a good sign of a fault with your pc or the OS or drivers you're using.

Hi,
I hope the Dev's enjoyed their pizza's. Great work, I know it is a thankless task and is not the easiest of things to do.
Irrispective of the issues the patch has caused, and to be fair with such a huge player base there are going to be some people who encounter issues. My laptop cannot now use the premium graphics and I no doubt will need to redownload the entire game.
All I would ask is that in future that you look at improving the method of communicating with us that there are issues. An hourly update to say your still working on the issues (and a timestamp to see when the last update notice was posted) would go along way to keeping people a little more informed.
Keep up the good work.
