I installed the new patch last night. Besides the problems found by CCP and needing to clear out the cache, I have had no problems. I still have all my P&P info and all of my windows are still docked in the same spots I had them prior to patch.
Maybe it's an issue with the operating systems on peoples PCs? I'm running Vista with the latest updates. Seems there are many different issues popping up for different players. I see it tough to blame on the patch alone.
I don't know nearly enough about Windows OS to point anyone in the right direction but I hope this little bit of info might help bring a shed of light to the problems so many are facing.
Good luck everyone. I hope you all can get it taken care of so you can all get your game-on

Edited by: Tom Rebane on 13/03/2008 16:12:23 Edited by: Tom Rebane on 13/03/2008 16:11:03 Well lets see. 1. My overview starts 3 inches off my client and i have to wait 1-3 minutes for it to move down. as i cannot move it till its happy
2. Resistances, well we had the cpu increase to help stop omi tanks now people are going to use them more then ever ive been testing this and caldari really cant pull it off without invunfields now. a phoenix with t2 em, therm, and kin give a resitance off em55/ex50/kin73/ther64. so im going to have to fit invunfield to get all round restisance oh wait thats omni tanking wait we're ment to stop doing that. Seriously though ive almost been playing 3 year FOR the love of Guinness frikening change it back. Dunno why it was changed really in the start we we're all used to it all adapted to the old resistances and liked it. non of my friend's on eve said "hey you know whats a great idea lower resitances"
3. These freaking welcome windows on every ingame window is annoying, most players over a year know what their clicking we dont need a tutorial window pop up every time. i think this should be a feature turned on in your rookie period and turns off there after unless turned back on, on the esc menu
4. Delayed patches, normally patches are released on a tuesday and left to very last minute. can we stop this and use multiplicity. say tuesday the trial patch hit multiplicity and has 2 days of testing allowing quirks like the boot.ini and corrupting eve client issues of the past 2 patches. This would mean poeple volunteer to install these patches and test it. hopefully knowledgable people will find issues and give detailed report. i myself only know enough to fix my issues not know whats gone wrong. Also allow unlimited petition on multiplicity with a scaling system say 1-10 scroe 10 being OMG ccp read this or people computers will die. although this will mean some large quantity of junk it mean if people are reading the petition hopefully such issue wont arise.
5. For a company called Crowd Control Productions it seems it spends more time making us angry then appeasing us. Admittidly yes you can never make us all happy. But the number of us hating the new changes must be fing huge. normally i can see the light at end of tunnel yet this time i couldnt see the light, if there was its a group of pyromaniacs looking for me
6. Put resistances back...

So..new patch... No problems. Overview didnt kill itself, all my presets are still there. Read over all the problems on the first two pages, none of them affect me. Only issue is the whole EVEMon thing which seems less of a bug and more intentional for the time being. Just wanted to let the devs know that this patch aint broken like alot of people are saying.
PS: Restarting your computer AFTER patch installation, before you try to play....is a good thing. Ive done it everytime for the past 2 years and ive never had a bug related to patch day. Unless it was also related to EVEMon.
Thats all.

My numbers of the indivudual skills under Spaceship Command in EVEMon (which are chached) add up, but in game they dont. The amounts of the skills themselves are the same both ingame and in EVEMon, but the total amount is not, those are lower ingame. Difference of about 200k I think. Wicked.

OK I thinkI've fixed the alt-tab issue. Here goes: The EVE client writes profile caches to the C: drive and they are GINORMOUS (sic). Which means if u like me keep a very small C: drive, that and the rather big setup file can max you out, and stop EVE using a pagefile. This was just about OK before the patch but the patch has pushed memory use up about 10% maybe a bit more, soooo u need ur pagefile. Moving the pf to another drive and setting it to system managed seems to have done the trick (even tho system is setting a very similar size to my manual one - ie initial 3300 max 4990, EVE doesn't seem to want to write to the unmanaged pf anymore). Odd but if it works... Btw we just tested a can drop in Dod - just to get a bit of pressure piled on the 2 clients - and my alt didn't get flagged to me for attack.. hmm next issue... |

When I undock from the Lai Dai station in Airaken I get a weird graphic glitch.
If I rotate the camera around the ship the planet gets occluded by... the background?
In other words a big slice of the planet disappears, but dynamically as I pan around.
Just thought it worth a mention.

Oops jumped the gun .. after 10 mins of testing one client did lock up again. I'm still pretty sure this is to do with the way the new patched client is using mem/pagefile.. Nothing went wrong until I went OOG to write up.. Like I said much earlier in this thread - feel free to evemail with comments/other suggestions (but not micky mouse stuff like 'reinstall client' 'do gfx drivers', 'settings to min/classic'..etc.). |

my current issues with the patch or things that have changed and are now annoying
- my drone window will not stay pinned and has to be moved every time i undock it enjoys attaching itself to my overview on undock
-the cargo hold button in the HUD will no longer close the cargo hold when clicked have to hit the X now to do that.
- the load button for all tabs of the wallet both personal and corporate has moved to the far side of the wallet screen away from where you make the changes causing unnecessary mouse travel to do a quick check.
thats all my current annoyances the rest of the patch i like have little problems at all with it and i really like i can make folders in my quickbar so that has become neater

You do know that EveMon counts up SP as you train a skill up, and Eve itself only updates SP at the end of a skill don't you? My guess is that that you are 200k SP through a skill.

Not sure where else to put this so..
Love some of the new features, but they seem very half-implemented. Here's some suggestions to make them a lot more useful.
1) The EWAR overview column needs to actually BE a column that you can put where you choose like everything else.
2) The market quickbar folders is awesome! But, you need to be able to re-order stuff. I can't find anyway at all to do that.
3) The overview default tab either needs to be deletable or able to load something other than the default. Having 9 extra as the max instead of 5 would be nice too.

I use the /LUA:off switch too... when I wrote "./settings" I meant "..../EVE/settings" "." was for the root folder of eve exe&files
and btw, I did copy the settings file from the old folder to the new one, It didnt took me long to find what happen the problem is that lot of ppl wont find out and dont even try it's CCP part to make things easy and keep those settings files useful and so, in the right folder.

OK: Only a few crashes on startup this time, can't blame the patch for that, since random crashes started before Trinity (they just haven't been addressed yet). All settings / bookmarks lost (nothing really surprising there). All in all, I guess I'm thankful my boot.ini wasn't touched this time. Seems to be troublesome issues but nothing life threatening. FPS has gotten no better / no worse w/ Premium Content for me.
good points: 1. Lots of welcome to your _____ window! screens, not very useful to me, but probably very helpful for new players. 2. Vigilant now looks cool again. tyvm :D 3. Thanks for the much groovier Nanite Repair Paste icon. 4. The overview now showing targets using EW on you is a nice feature, seems to work well.
Just first impressions, only played for about an hour and most of that was spent trying to get my overview situated and all my lost settings back.
Has anyone had an issue with webbing an NPC / Rat and the web activated but not slowing down the target? It happened to me twice now since the update, just thought it was worth mentioning.
I really can't stress enough how annoying it is having to re-establish my settings and bookmarks every time there's a patch, (or worse) every time Eve crashes my computer, which is very frequent. Please take some time to stop adding new content and nerfing (sorry, 'balancing') everything to hell and back, and address this issue! I know a lot of us would certainly appreciate it.

Well yes, the patch probably did work well for most people. That isn't the point. If people don't chime in and say what didn't work then problems won't get addressed.
While many are not exactly being polite about it (which isn't constructive), ultimately CCP needs to know about things that go wrong and that is the point of threads like this. While positive 'yay you did good!' feedback might give nice warm fuzzies it doesn't actually accomplish much. CCP needs to be aware of what their internal QA missed so they can correct those issues and get the people who are having trouble back up and running or fix functionality that didn't quite work as intended.
