Honestly, stop being so impatient - it is quite obvious they are working hard to fix these issues since we havent seen a single devblog since February.
I haven't had any problems with the new patch. DONT ROLL IT BACK.
This is my opinion also EVEN with my EVE crushing my vision of playing. Going back would simply add more bugs, they are messing around with their code each time, it takes weeks to get bug-free patches of a crappy level, a sudden "fix" like this and you are looking at programming anarchy.
Market also generates a high jump distance similar to scanner range on some orders. New API key on EVEMOn is not accepted, but that is not a big deal for me.

Running two clients worked on my pc before the patch, and I expect it to work after a patch without having to downgrade my settings. If I have to downgrade my settings to get the game to work as it used to, I can only conclude, that the patch is somehow bugged.
I need caching to deal with lag in big fleet battles, so it isn't an option for me to run with no cache.

any talk about the inability to get past the splash screen as detailed in this thread: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=690297
I believe it is linked to the alt-tab issue and perhaps window mode specifically. ________________________________________

I neither want a roll back or roll forward, just a fix to these screen problems... The fleet pushing the overview off the screen and the worst of all, the random white screens suddenly occurring... (Along white icons in the hanger)
The PC & graphics card cannot barely handle a white screen and docking - if you can - does not reset it. Logging off doesn't reset it. I have to re-boot the pc to reset it, only to find its back in the next session...
TBH its making eve unplayable for me...

Ok im glad to see that we are getting reponses to certain questions.. However please can CCP give a statement on the following as you seem to be skipping around the subject and have not give a clear answer at all.
When will the FPS issue be looked into as like im sure many other thousand players if not all everyone has had a drop in FPS some more severe than others. Myself its pretty bad and a good day would 5-8fps in most situations fleet combat is just no go. Prior to patch i would achieve a healthy 35+ fps.
So lets have a real answer to the above and not just answer the easy questions pls ccp

I'd agree some things don't need rolling back, and yes it had occured to me that with the server-side changes they made last Friday would make such a thing hard if not impossible, but some of the changes made are clearly responsible for the client's instability - and these are prinicipally ui changes, which, yes, would require a lot of work server side to bring back to where we stood, but CCP need to understand how seriously we take this - the client having been rendered unstable is a core matter and as such renders the game unplayable. I also strongly suspect that a dogged attempt to make changes work rather than giving up on them and yes doing a ****load of donkey work only to put some things back the way they were is at the core of why things are taking so long to be worked out. More simply put in laymans terms = roll it back. |

The new patch provides: Auto Completion -- Most text fields now have a cached auto complete feature. It remembers your searches for those text fields and gives you matching previous inputs.
How do you delete something from the auto completion? Is there a way to turn it off or clear the entire cache?
Thanks Traith.

Its kinda funny to see CCP,s latest advertising named "WINGMAN" and the question "why go it alone?" "Invite a friend".
My answer to that is, with all these issues specialy not being able to run more than one account safley, Inviting a friend is the last thing I would do , as they wouldnt be a friend for long after installing this mess. The frp,s rate is so low all that happens is it take a long time to change accounts or you crash or die. CCP are refusing refunds and so the game has become a joke in the Field of MMORPG,s. If it wasnt already, as its the only game that the rules say report harassment, yet when people contiunuely kill you steal your items and never ever stop using bad language and innuendo and using corp and personal names that are discusting and also full of innuendo, when ccp continously allow whole systems to be devoured by macro miners and they in turn employe stronger charaters to harrass you if you complain about them. I charge CCP with not producing the Item they advertise, for not upholding the rules of the game themselves, for allowing the macro miners to work. For making it unbalenced in terms of making a living V someone harrassing you. And now you cant even have a second account to try and defend your self becuase ...........you crash through another

Edited by: Rassalon Simessa on 18/03/2008 06:34:06 I don't intend this to be a negative or a flame or anything.
But given the types of things I ship an unreliable client could mean the loss hundreds of millions or even billions of isk.
So... I'm essentially not playing right now.
However, my feelings on this are that I would prefer more stability rather than enhancements to the game. The cycle I observe is once the bugs are worked out where the game is reliable- a new patch comes out introducing new bugs.
I'm getting random quits on three separate machines. Not fun. |

Edited by: NeoShocker on 18/03/2008 07:09:30 While this patch is nifty. Alot of changes, however... There are also ALOT of unannounced changes.
Be it buff or nerf or change of game mechanics. I formally request that CCP revise the INCOMPLETE patch list to a COMPLETE patch listings. Not one tiny buff or tiny nerf is left out. Server side and Client side, file location changes, even a short cut key change or so. But I know this isn't the first time it happened.
Us players will appreciate it if we are told of all changes. So please, no more secrets. Even if the change is insignificant. :) I always thought that CCP wouldn't leave off any updates unmentioned when I first started Eve. Secrecy must stop!

The good:
* More overview configurations. * Auto-invite for fleets. * Good improvements on ships.
The bad:
* Overview configurations don't work properly. Moon brackets disappear, f.ex. * When you accept a fleet invitation and are in space, the fleet windows bump the overview out of screen (in 1680x1050). * The raptor-change did not merit a grid-nerf.

Card does appear to be heating up more as well and a corp mate also with the same card has the same issue any ideas.
Thats crazy, my ati card was doing that right before i swapped 8800gtx in. The gtx now runs fairly silent, but game is taking longer to lock

Also, sometimes when I click somewhere, the ship go to an another direction instead to follow where I click. A gangmate lost his ship this afternoon, by sending his ship to a direction who wasn't followed by the game (this ship go to the ennemy instead the invert direction ^^).
Maybe it is only an impression, but I prefer create this post, in the case than some players can confirm the same problems.
my ship has started moving randomly too... i have to stop it everytime, besides my ships started doing more 360 flips instead of going in a straight mode...
creppy ship movements must be stopped

I too call for a full accounting, through a TRUE listing of the patch changes, that will include ALL the ways we have been screwed. I mean, if we MUST put up with all of these nerfs, AND all of the bugs, AND have no say in them what-so-ever, then at least CCP should have the decency to TELL us about them. That way we don't find out about them as a nifty "surprise" the next time we count on something and it doesn't work the way it used to. I.E. All the stealth elite module nerfs, etc. etc.
And, in closing, I know I am screaming at a giant brick wall that could care less about me or my subscription money, and there is no way in hell the "balancing" devs are going to undo them, but please, for the love all that is holy, UNDO the freaking resist nerfs. PvEing several key factions now takes SIGNIFICANTLY longer than it used to. All you are going to do with theses changes is make people avoid missions with those factions, so what is the point?
There. I'm done. I know it's hopeless once the "balancing" gods have spoken. But, I had to try one last time....

Actually, to me this speaks volumes. This is only speculation, but educated speculation at that. Businesses only offer stuff for "free" when they have a reason to. Most commonly, when they want to promote a new item/service, or a long existing item/service that isn't doing so well sales wise.
CCP offering this only a short time after a major patch debacle tells me that perhaps, just maybe, people HAVE been following up on their threats and canceling subs; en mass. I know about 5 of the people I normally play with have alreadyà. Maybe they arenÆt alone.
Again, just speculation on my part. But, it makes sense to me. Of course, maybe I am just desperate to see some glimmer of hope somewhere that CCP is getting what they deserve.
If I am right though, and people have left in droves, I say more power to them and "good show." I think more should join them. Even this five year veteran may if MANY of the atrocities visited upon the community with Trinity 1.1 are not corrected. Soon. NOT to be read: SOON(tm)
Oh, and to Katie: "No." I wouldn't involve a friend in Eve right now either. Quite the opposite in fact. I would encourage them to stay away if they were really my friend.

Well, I've got to say, what a right c***-up this patch is . CCP are now behaving more like EA with their treatment of players. They way the Trinity 1.1 patch fiasco has gone, with constant extended downtimes, is nothing more than a joke. Why the hell did they release a patch with so many errors in it? I thought all this sort of stuff was tested before being released, or was it a case of deploy on such and such a date regardless of the finished product. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. I find it no surprise that people are leaving the game, it's exactly the same way Electronic Arts messed up BF2 , crappy patches. Come on CCP, get your act together, get Eve running correctly and in future, TEST the patches first!

I havent had any problems with the new patch. DONT ROLL IT BACK.
I think you would think completely different if they had nerfed the apoc instead of "balancing" it. But to start flinging names at people who have their own grievances will only prevent the message were trying to raise from gaining credit, and shows a low level of intelligence ( If you have to do it then save the smack talk for local).
I think that ships in the game that were enhanced during the last patch did not need the enhancement. If you need to fit modules to increase your cap or PG then so what, adapt thats part of the fun of EvE. But to purposely select ships that were, imo, already formidable and give them a steroid boost, well thats stupid. Why not do it for the Gallante and the Minmatar too! But I do agree that rolling the patch back wouldn't solve anything, and would probably only cause further headaches, and i also appreciate that CCP are working to correct issues that have arrisen so far.

I have my own guess here. I am guessing that they had scheduled the Wingman offer to come out right after 'interest' generated by the 5th alliance tournament and the 'boost' patch. So the gears were probably in motion before the patch blew up in their face.
From CCP's perspective, this would be a terrible time to try a ploy like this unless it was already started. You do not want an influx of new players while you are having software issues.

Is there any ETA on having the Starbase API working again? I'm sure you can imagine it is quite an issue for those who have migrated to new API-based tools for corp management, only to find those tools disabled.

You are prolly right. It was just wishful thinking on my part like I said. After all, sweet justice is a rare commodity now days. But, if you are right, it would have been prudent of them to cancel the free promotion roll out, for the exact same reasons you list, don't you think?
I dunno. Just me being mindlessly hopeful that CCP is finally seeing some indications that a significant portion of the community is NOT happy. I find my mindless optimism that CCP will eventully reap what they sow is an effective counter to their carless patch work. At least, it works for me.
Anywho, back to attempting to run missions at 9 fps.
