I hate to ruin this great thread full of bot users crying cheat, but it has gone on long enough.
Monkeysphere is not cheating at all. I'm no PL member or PL spy or have been anywhere near PL or the Monkeysphere but I'm pretty sure I know what he is doing. He's using a technique that only works on macro/botters (and maybe real people that are semi-afk ratting). I've done this but never got the timing down just right, but it looks like the monkeysphere has got it down perfectly.
Basically when a bot sees a hostile in local, it warps to a safe then waits for the hostile to leave. Monkeysphere logs off (he does it fast hence the "he's not in local whine) in a belt and the bot warps back to the belt since the hostile is out of local. Monekysphere logs back on and times it so his ship is ewarping back to the belt as the macro is warping back to the belt. The macro gets tackled and popped. Then he apparently whines on the fourm and accuses Monkeysphere of cheating. OP is a botter or has some other illegal program in my opinion and should gtfo.
TL:DR It's a log on trap, but an extremely well timed one that is aimed at bot/macro users. Props to The Monkeysphere in all honesty and lol at the rest of you

Why do you think anybody needs you to belive? Who are you? We need CCP to belive and to fix bugs. Don't worry we don't interesting in your support.
If I can find problems with your vid then so can CCP. The more evidence you put down the better it would be for you.

Yes, you're right We are not interesting in Monkey now, it's ccp decision to ban or not to ban him. it doesn't matter now (for me). We just want exploits to be fixed (exploits we found and sent to ccp).

Considering the amount of macros in use at every ice belt in high sec I wouldnt hold your breath for anything to happen if thats true.

And that's the point of this thread. Bump it until someone who cares in CCP sees it and takes action.

It`s not a log on trap, I have been on the recieving end of this guy.
1: He enters local, WITHOUT showing up in local chat. 2: He find whatever he wants to kill 3: He makes himself visible in local right before he engages you, this time is to short for you to react or do anything. Only thing that can maybe save you is loging off before he agro you.
That he is running aound killing bots I really dont care. But ruining my gaming experience with hacks/bugs or whatever he is doing, ****es me off.
I know how logon trap works and and it involves patience, you need to wait for the macroratter to go active again. The short timespan alone between his kills alone should make most people suspicous.
Also, if you look at killmails at various places, there are multiple people commenting on them that he suddenly appeared right out of nowhere. Keep living in denial.
Now that this bug is known and up in the air, it`s just a matter of time before this will start spreading in eve. Unless CCP does something about it.

Originally by: Thabokka I wonder how russkies managed to reproduce The Monkeysphere exploit that fast.
Apparently it took them 1hr to demonstrate the proof of concept and another 1hr to develop the working prototype.
Obviously the russians people doing this had the tremendous advantage of studying the Eve Client for years and developing macro programs, it would take anyone else considerably longer to manage this.
It's occured to me that the unfair reputation of being a bunch of rule bending loggoffski russians is perhaps a little unfair. Perhaps they weren't logging off after all, just choosing not to appear in local at that time. They do afterall seem to know a considerable amount about the subject and this would explain why they are so sure that this guy is doing something wrong. Afterall, if anyone would know for sure, they would.

It's not.
This is what has been said in this thread, you knocked up a similar program to what this monkey guy is presumed to use in 2 hours
Impossible for someone who is not familiar with the client code, pretty easy for someone who's been retroengineering it and making macro's for years.
What you're talking about is "good cheating" vs "evil cheating" oblivious to the fact that its all cheating

Hello.
Actually its good that some stupid people think that simple things require tremendous qualification. My only handicap - 10+ years as software engineer and 4+ years in telecom, so I am quite familiar with debugging network protocols given total lack of documentation. (Hello ALU - those were great years :) )

Honestly, tho, really... anything that allows people to sneak up on annoying macro'd ratters, miners, what have you is a good thing and I applaud whomever had the ingenuity to figure out how.
Now, if they tested their targets over time to see if they were, indeed, macros rather than merely inattentive players (a challenge in local, if not answered repeatedly, or convo attempts never answered) would weed out the annoying interlopers from the bots. Then go back later and rake up the bots in one fell swoop.
Because clearly CCP cannot, and will not, take action against the staggering numbers of them, so it's up to people like this latest nemesis to do so.
Make it a two-way street (challenge + answer = left alone for a little while until real raiders come by using normal mechanics) and there won't be so much whining.
Or, heck, since macros respond to identities in local, a few 'exploit' placed names in local will have them parked in their safespot for hours, or they'll leave the system and with luck blunder into a trap. --- Dreamer: My dream, Freddy! If you bend a rules *just a little bit*, then it would be easier for you to bend em a little further, and further and finally you dont care about em anymore. Its kinda darkside.

To make it more clear. Because clearly CCP do not want ... take action against the RMT, Botters, and cheaters.
As you can see, taking this thread as example- total silence from CCP so far.

If you seriously think that you are hurting macro ratters by killing their Ravens, then you are really clueless. They make up the cost of that Raven within a couple of hours. The only thing that will hurt macro ratters is ban from CCP, so they have to buy a new character or train a new one.
Monkeysphere killed a number of regular players, who were not botting or doing anything of this sort. He killed them using an exploit, so we are not playing on a level ground. You can call me jealous, I too want to catch Golems, Paladins without showing up in local. Seems unfair to me that he does it, and I can't do it.
By the way there is absolutely no reason to be macrobotting in a marauder, in fact that is really ******ed if you can get the job done in a raven. You might as well stop white knighting an exploiter, who kills hostile ships by cheating. He is not ridding the server of macrobots, he is not hurting their finances and he kills and ruins the games for regular players, who don't cheat or bot.
PL right now has a group of players who use a spy, who is friendly to the ratters, to get enemy ships tackled. There is nothing wrong with that, no complaints, perfectly legit way to catch them. However, tampering with client side is not something I would tolerate and neither should you.

The only thing that can prove it are the server logs. If "our logs show nothing," then nothing would probably happen to him. So the least we can hope for is the exploit to be fixed, so nobody can use it again.

If Huhuh doesn't mind, we plan to do another test on Sisi around 4-5pm eve time presumably in HED-GP system. I want to fraps him entering the system, warping to my ship in belt without being in local chat, then reappearing in local. Keep in mind though that no details about how it's possible will be disclosed.

There has been enough posting by players at their keyboards when killed stating that the cheater didn't appear in local until they were tackled to convince me, also if you look back in the thread there is also testimonies from eye witnesses on the cheater not appearing in local over several jumps.
All this hurf blurf from people just makes me believe that a lot more people are using this exploit and are afraid their 'I WIN' button is going to be nerfed.
