Yeah... I was thinking about letting one of my accounts go, and now you've just confirmed it for me CCP. I have 3 accounts, but I really don't have time to play with all my characters at once, so ghost training was really important for me.

Why oh why this latest change!?!?!!
I feel betrayed - this comes also soon after that Eve online questionaire that got emailed to us...
After some figures crunching they most decided on this action - unfortunately I will NOT be participating in any more surveys sent to me for this very reason (people who took the survey look at the questions carefully that you answered and you will understand).
Pity it's all about $$$ in the end...

Congrats. With this decision you will lose at least one (in the past few months mostly) inactive, but sometimes paying) subscriber.

it's a harmless perk that CCP taking away shows they are in it for the bucks
I have a hard time believing the number of alts cancelled will be made up for by the number of people more consistently playing full time
it's pretty dumb to say "ccp is in it for the money" because what the hell else are they supposed to be doing it for
regardless, this change will result in less money being spent so it's bad Signature removed. Text is showing as "Signature no longer available" and filesize is well in excess of the allowed 400 x 120 pixels. Navigator |

CCP
I was sent to the West coast for 45 days for business, because my 3 accounts for paid for 6 months in advance I couldn't play but my skills continued to train.
One account trained for Caldari BS 5 One account trained for Advanced Weapons 5 One account trained for Starbase Defense 5
Now the point is that if I didn't have my accounts paid for with a CC I would have just not paid, and let the accounts laps.
With all this crying, I do hope that you will look at putting in a feature that lets us with paid accounts train 2 skills back to back if we are called away. But I would have been against anything of this nature unless you first removed the unactive account training first.

Yup, CCP is condensing the player base. Getting rid of all the fluffy stuff and retaining only the loyal player base. This gives a more solid basis to calculate income and future investments without endangering a sudden, fatal drop in subscribers when the bubble burst, a new mmo comes out and all the unreliable customers flog to a new game.
From the solid basis, new fluffy stuff can be collected via Ambulation.
It's meh for the customers, sure, but I will not /emoragequitwrist, lol

I have yet to see the playerbase to agree that much on a topic yet. In these 14 pages i've yet to see a single post being actively FOR the change.
I have to agree that its a great incentive to come back, when you're taking a break. You get bored of EvE, you set a long skill, and when that skill is done you just have to reactivate to see how it works out and you're sucked back in.

Originally by: EyeCeeYou The change has nothign to do with infinite time, its about whether or not you can train without paying to train.
The majority of ghost training is not done by typical-Joe players who hit hard times and say "well, I can knock out BS 5 while I'm gone." Most ghost training is done as 2d and 3rd and 4th accounts for the purpose of selling the high-SP account.
I guess I'm just looking this from my own perspective. You wouldn't believe how many times my account has expired when I wasn't looking. Good thing it kept training the skill I had on... ... ...

the usual "we listen to our players" crap put in front of the mandatory, "we need more money to keep the game alive" truth. the decision doesn't feel right to me, but that's not the point. the point is: your statement as to why you're doing it is hypocrisy and that sucks. a long overdue and much needed change would be to cut the crap and talk business instead of cheap stuff like that. it's a stunt, a very cheap one.

yeah it's not like they tell you or anything
(and it's not technical reasons that stop them: the mechanism to tell you clearly exists as anyone who has played a trial will tell you. ideally there would be a big counter on the character select screen that goes down as you run out of play time.) if i wanted to take a break from eve for a month so that i dont burn out and get board of the game i will set a long skill train time so i have something to look fowerd to when i get back, this stops that and essentialy freezes my account so i dont have anything new to come back to, what are you going to next, stop any and all active manufacturing or research jobs?
its not really the fact that your removing "ghost training" its the fact you have given the paying customer any say in the matter wich makes me want to hurt something >_>

I'm sitting here pondering this after being here for years, and having those times when I wasn't able to pay the account on the day it was due, lapsing my account for a week or maybe two. Would have been a real shame losing training time due to dates not matching, which is what will happen now. I could see how they are going to lose a large chunk of money though, as now the charater transfers will be dropping, 20 bucks a transfer. Thinking about it, this will be a very bad move in that area alone. Let alone someone being ****ed over their account lapsing for a week or two and coming back to find Heavy guns still has two weeks.
lotsa emoragequits to come CCP, bad move. Unless that is the hidden agenda, maybe they are just tired of the EvE cluster, and are wanting the playerbase to leave on their own through small nudges.
CCP, are you just wanting to move onto somthing else? Have you forgotten your community that helped you get to where you are today?

what's the deal with CCP trying to make eve into every other mmo? do they really think the kind of people who play wow, warhammer, etc will have any interest in space spreadsheets online? no, but the several hundred thousand loyal subscribers you already have do have interest in space spreadsheets online, so cut this stupid shit out and play to your strengths.
stop homogenizing every aspect of your game, stop trying to mold it into some kind of twisted mutant hybrid of an incredibly-indepth market space sim and a bland mass-market grindfest.

35,000 people playing a game, yea we have enough players to lose due to our expensive prices and nerfing our one defining attribute as a MMO.
Excellent work CCP at covering your bums!

Ugh! Unique selling points are a *good* thing CCP.
Look at how stable the subscription figures for Eve have been over the last 4 years or so - a nice steady rise, rather than most MMOs which surge and die within a year (true, eve figures aren't huge, but the game is very niche).
I'm sure that this is partly due to the extra little enticement we have to come back, knowing that we followed a corpmate's advice and set a long skill training. Even people who use the feature to train more cheaply are still paying at least every other month (and at the most expensive short-time rate) aren't they?
I am very dubious that this is a good idea. It's also very sudden, can this be considered in a bit more depth please?

If it hurts business, they will re-institute it. I think really though, it's mainly going to hurt character farmers. So you're going to have to let your 4th account go. Sh!t!
