I understand that greed is met with more greed. I do however believe as most of us that you, CCP, will lose more than you gain from this in the long run and I ask you to reconsider. Me personally I have been "Ghost Training" sometimes, and I won't mind paying full-time to train my characters even though I'm a poor, unemployed, wellfare taking bum, but I know the majority of the current playerbase will mind. And I don't want to see this game go down the drain as it actually is a great deal different from other current MMO's worth mentioning.
I usually trust in a developers decisions and believe that a good game has to develop by the developers and not by players whining on the forums. Due to this I usually don't vent my feelings over things. This, however, is not something directly game-related and therefore I choose to ask you to think again.

This is unfair for new players. This was possible for 1st player in Eve but new one will not. I suggest CCP remore every SP characters get wile player was not paying... Equity for all.

Edited by: Flinchey on 13/10/2008 19:15:23 ohhh godddd
please tell me you're kidding
please please please
i dont have enough money for another gtc upcoming
and i have a 35 freaking day skill (BC V) that i want to train in said time. or at least do like 10 days of it. (i have to paypal after i get the money even)
this may make me never play eve again. and rather than doing that long skill i'd just do a heap of skills that are probably half as useful.
CCP did you ever consider you might LOSE paying subs from this? seriously? i'm not kidding about not coming back. i love eve. but if it stops me from advancing in the game as people have done SINCE THE GAME WAS STARTED under extreme circumstances...
you must realize that money is just as important as skill points... i might be able to fly something after this 35 day skill.. but im hours of mission grinding away from it still. so its not that big a deal
this is almost like saying.. you're not allowed to make isk whilst in game with an active subscription. or not allowed to have a skill training whilst not physically in game.
people with an active sub have never done a long skill.. its a waste of money. the 60 days of sub time is used for those <20d skills... the ones where you aren't basically wasting money by training them.
EDIT: and even if i do come back... this means i may as well not ever get any >rank 4 skill to level 5.. never fly a command ship.. or any kind of cap ship.. at least not for a few years... i'll just spend the rest of my eve days doing nothing but rank 4 and below. less wasted money. im also, again, not joking about that.

Yeah, all the people in here with a pile of accounts deactively training long skills just need a break, they are not out to get the maximum SP for minimum money.

It's impossible to say this is a good idea without being a fat, lifeless, CCP fellating jackoff.
This is a bad thing for a big chunk of your fellow players and every player should be ambivalent at the very least towards it.
Still want to know why some of you are defending this; even if it's nothing to you, it hurts others and keeping the status quo certainly doesn't hurt you. Don't enable CCP's idiotic decision making, it could be your pet issue they shit on next.

I have 4 accounts. Ghost training meant I could take a month off for work or school or whatever and let my accounts finish up a tedious, long skill; a skill I would never train while subscribed.
I'm just not going to train long skills anymore, and will probably shut down 2-3 of my accounts. I wish I had seen this announcement 4 hours earlier, so I could have skipped renewing the two I did.

Edited by: sun seller on 13/10/2008 19:25:16 grats, you have lost 2 more accounts
it was the only advantage for me against other online games with my stress job; i had so much weeks every year where im unable to play any games. so this will be the end for me (my 2nd and 3rd Account) on eve.
and sorry, after all those ****** changes in this year, removing the 30!!!! and 90 day gtc and now this..... i will see whats going on here next weeks , but im nearly sure i will stop playing eve and remove all my accounts.
you should propberly set a GTC to 60$ to get more money instead of removing such pretty things

I'm not going to read through the seventeen pages to find out if these questions have been asked and/or answered.
1) Are Research Points going to stop accumulating for inactive players? 2) Are market orders going to be taken off the market for inactive players? 3) Are member counts in corporations/alliances going to be accurately reflected for inactive players? |

I'm happy with the change and hope that CCP will put in something for the real players aka the paying base.
If CCP actually would have paired this change up with something for the REAL PLAYERS there would be significantly less complaining - it'd suck, but whatever.
That hasn't happened though. There's still no skill queue, you can still only train one character on an account, and now the only incentive to resub after burnout or a break has been taken away. This change gives absolutely NOTHING to any of you REAL PLAYERS and just takes away from everyone who did let accounts lapse for whatever reason (and look at the people complaining - there's segments of pretty much every side of Eve talking about how awful this change is).

Interesting point of view, so let's take a real-world example. I take a long train journey of 500 miles. I buy a ticket which would cover me for a journey to the town about 50 miles from the start, and another for the journey from the town about 50 miles from my destination. I therefore have no ticket for the 400 miles in the middle.
According to the 'supporters' of ghost training then because I've paid for the start and end then when the ticket inspector comes along mid-journey and asks for my ticket I would be fine saying I don't have one! Get real!
You pay for what you get. You don't pay you shouldn't get.

I always used the "offline skill training" thing as a pitch to try and get people into the game. I know I wouldn't have started up if not for that, let alone created 3 extra accounts.
Cancelling all my alt accounts now. I'll resubscribe them once this bullshit change gets rolled back, or never if it doesn't happen.

I don't feel like to play 12 months/year eve. I have that with every mmo. When i return after a little break its nice to have another skill finished. Im doing this already over about 4 years. So what do u want CCP...turning your back to you loyal players to gain more and more money...is CCP < > Greed?
Imo, CCP, you have a fantastic game but the way you treat your customers over the years is get worser and worser especial compared to other mmo's... |

goon? it's not that hard to check history etc...nothing against them but i was never close to being one
I'm not saying it isn't fair, i'm saying it's bad for business because it was one of main things that made ppl coming back to the game.
The only good thing in this change will probably be less lag, wich i really dont mind, what i do mind is my friends not coming back to play with me and eventually me leaving the game because of that

Edited by: Seth Ruin on 13/10/2008 19:19:17 This entire move is a huge "F YOU" to the playerbase in my opinion. CCP knows full well the poor state of the world economy currently. Hell, my room mate had to stop playing because he lost his job.
What's to encourage players to come back if they don't have that inkling little, "Oh hey that skill I really wanted is probably done training now too..."
CCP, this is a ridiculous decision.
EDIT:
AND WTF! This has been going on for the past five years with no real ill-effects. Why is it all of a sudden a big deal? I think something like this, it is too late to change. Now you'll get newbies complaining us old players got those few free months and for cheaper!
So that's it. CPP's trying to discourage new players from joining I suppose?
Ugh.

I am a bit impartial here as i don't really do ghost training. I like playing too much to take a break.
That said, i suppose no one told CCP that training queues would be something the player base would like, but nothing really that important. After all, its been years without it anyway.
Training queue and ghost training cant exist together and as the CSM told CCP "We want training queues", i guess CCP went for it...
Unfortunately no one forethought this choice between skill queue training and ghost training. For the majority, the first is a luxury and the second a necessity.
In the end, CCP must be pretty ****ed with the CSM and this will make it more deaf to its recommendations in the future.
Result: Epic fail everyone, Epic fail CCP if they really go through with this. ---

And no, ghost training is not free, no matter how many train journeys you compare with. In fact i believe most players who use ghost training actually pay more total than the ones that don't.

One more reason to quit and never come back. Im not playing that mutch any more and was thinking of a break, and come back to a fresh lvl5 skill. And now thats down the drain and the urge to reacctivate aswell. Bad move, you can call it what ever you want, the true answer is greed.

I don't really think this is a huge priority issue CCP. Let's be real here. Fix the game before you change useless stuff like this. You're making developer choices on par with SOE here. If people get burnt out from your game and don't want to play, but decide to want to set a long skill while they take time off aren't going to want to pay for the time they aren't playing and you'll ward them off. Did you train Losing Subscriptions V from Sony Online Entertainment or what? ---------------------------------------- Today's Empires, Tomorrow's Ashes.

Well, for me personally I might end up not resubbing after I take an extended break from Eve as has happened a few times in the past. Since I won't have anything I can look forward to that would make it worthwhile to resub. Consider that aspect of this "ghost training", it is an incentive for people to come back and resub.
