Yea, it's true that CCP is running a business. It is not about getting it for free since we all buy our GTC. But seeing all the posts in this thread gotta make CCP wonder if it really is a good choice to stop the ghost training since they will loose lots and lots of paying accounts. In my book, it's way better to get a player to buy gametime 3-4 times a year then zip-zero-nothing-nada.

Just skimmed 17 pages of this topic, and yet ccp has no comment to make other than the title? I can only assume that everyone is sorting out my petition that I filed a number of days ago. I run 5 accounts, and have been playing for 3-4 years now, 4 are paid with rl cash the other funded by playing the game and getting gtc's. During my playing period, I have seen a steady alienaction with ccp and the player base. While I understand that ccp is a business, the way you guys try to mislead us with the rubbish is laugthable. I started to play warhammer online a few weeks back, great game, lots of pvp, yet to see any lag, I had am issue with game play, filed a petition, got a response within minutes, the dev/gm then spent a good ten mins chatting in game with me, asking how I was getting on and enjoying the game, true customer service, unlike this rubbish that ccp are ramming down our throats. So I guess I will be halving my accounts, 40msp & 60msp will remain inactive, till I get blored with cleaving dwarfs in two on warhammer. For those losing the will to play eve, seriously, go explore other games, they do exist. Warhammer online is rammed full of pvp, cheap sub per month, great customer service less bullshite.

Calling this was made to get people to stop *****ing about the speed nerf. Also great job in giving this 2 days notice. You would of given more but you wanted the maximum number of people to resub before you pulled this crap.

I wonder if CCP investigated and found most people training capital pilots only pay for a fraction of the training time.

This is a poor plan.
I've been playing for several years and have 5 accounts, of which only 2 stay active all the time as the others work on long skills. There is no reason for me to want to pay 2x as much for this game without significant content improvement, so your revenue from me will fall - not rise. In addition given the damage this change will do to my longer-term in-game goals I may well simply stop playing altogether.
Why doing this at all, much less doing it on short notice, is a good idea escapes me utterly. Poor PR, and worse economics.

Well, i have 9 accounts.
I have 8 accounts that train and do research at our posses and manufacturing jobs. they are active about 50% of the time each (1 month on, 1 month inactive doing a lvl 5 rank 6 or higher skill). so, my 8 accounts are equivilent in cash flow to 4 full time accounts.
You just lost that.
good work CCP.
I'm (im sure not the only) one of the players who play the meta-game of eve online. you just killed it. I'll be moving along now.
I'm glad you will save your market share value. for now. If I was trading in futures, I'd be selling large rediculously large values of stocks in you right now.
Epic fail.

Wow I actualy thought CCP cared about the players who still have problems trying to just make the 15 a month. But since you changed taht well leting an account lapse till we can afford the next installment. Skill trianing was won of the main reasons I can to this game. It took me 1 year to just get my wife to think about playing. I think you nned to not change the ghost training because you are really taking away from the bottom economy players. Remember being optimized for 56k. How about a grace period before the skill stops. I mean really I thought I was playing EVE made by CCP Not the money hungry Blizzard running WOW. I thought you trully cared about all players.

Well the only reason i had this account was due to being able to train during downtime while i played on my main account. With this change, i'll be canceling this guy today, because it's pretty much a waste for the long training times.
Back to 1 account, thanks for the advanced warning.

Not much. Despite all the rah rah here most will renew their accounts when it comes down to it. |

I run three accounts. I'm not going to renew the third now. Another -1 for you CCP. For the record, I've kept all active all the time, but this has just p'd me off.
I know CCP are reading this thread as posts are getting edited by Mindstar himself. But are they listening?

One would have thought Icelandic companies were more cautious these days.
Apparently not, in a bold move to squeeze more cash out of its customer base, another one is seeking a meltdown.
And CCP Fallout seems to be the king of the scoundrels with his insulting intro ' long overdue and much needed change'.
People won't pay more, but instead get less for what they want to pay, and as a result, part of the people will wander of. A simple law of economics (Gossen).

Poor move, CCP, poor move. Poorest I've seen to date, in fact. It's fitting that CCP Fallout posted this new, since there will certainly be a sizeable fallout from this plain stupid decision.
I barely activated my second account due to the high GTC costs now as is. After this there's ZERO reason to activate it after it expires, and frankly I doubt there's any point in reactivating the main account either once game time runs out if this change stays. I've been mostly inactive for five months before this last week, and now I'm regretting I came back at all.
The long skills and how much time it takes to learn to do anything are ******ed to begin with, so the long skills were only good to be done when you had no time to play the game and/or not enough isk/money to pay for the account. I'm very low on both, so long skills will be left untrained in any case.
Now let's look outside EVE. I have Warhammer, Age of Conan, and World of Warcraft to turn to, not to mention all the non-MMOs out there. With this kind of behavior you're certainly making me much more likely to keep reactivating those instead of EVE. EVE has so many problems to begin with, this, for me, will be the fly breaking the camel's back.
Always before I defended CCP when people complained about lag etc. Sure, I complained about it too, but I kept saying it was just the hardware and not much could be done. And soon. But this... this is entirely stupidity on CCP's part, with no excuses of any sort to make it better.
Call this change off. For everyone's sake, or the banks won't be the only thing going down in Iceland.

Name another game with the same skill training mechanic as EVE. I'll wait.
Please do the same. Name another game with the same skill training mechanic of allowing your skills to increase while you are off-line or at work.

Point to the post where people want to play for free. I'll wait.
People are outraged that they will no longer be able to Ghost Train. Ghost Training, is by definition, setting an account to train while its inactive/unpaid. Isn't that wanting part of the game for free?
Now, I do not agree with how CCP has presented the topic. I've laid into their customer service people numerous times on petitions for just using a cut and paste, non personalized answer.
While I don't see a problem with people having to pay for training, giving such short notice is pretty stupid.

Ghost training, that is training a skill while not paying for the account, is at best an exploit. We were getting something for free, and now we are not. Why should you continue to accumulate skill when you are not paying for it? I'm actually angry that this exists. I am quite appreciative that they retain expired account data for as long as they do to begin with.
Those skills that take really long to get are meant to be very hard to obtain, which will require commitment and investment at the expense of other skill areas. That means you are actually going to have make the hard choice between specialist and generalist. A game with hard choices; now that's refreshing!
Every voice counts, and every opinion has a right to exist, so does yours. But the truth that's displayed by this thread is: You are the minority and the majority gets a kick in the butt. That's not the way it's supposed to be in my opinion.

Then your market orders and research points should stop as well. After all, with market orders up you can make money while your account is expired. With research points you can continue to accumulate them while your account is expired, and when you re-subscribe you come back to a fat amount of RPs that you can cash in for ISK. That is entirely inconsistent with the ghost training thing.
If CCP wants to remove ghost training then they should also remove market orders from inactive accounts, and stop inactive accounts from acquiring RPs.
Dividend payouts to inactive shareholders as well, those should be stopped. |
