Might be that they are doing this to roll out skill queing and dont want people abuseing the system to que up 2 30 day skills while inactive i suppose.

Has anyone noticed that all these changes affecting CCP's cashflow started AFTER they hired that economist... Welcome to corporate world run on quarterly reports, reap what you sow...

Edited by: Jogvan on 13/10/2008 17:29:47 This change is re-tarded, and I'm sure you will lose more money then you gain (which is obviously why you do this. STOP LYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!). First changing so you can only buy 60d GTC's and now this. As other have said already, it will only stop people who are on break to return.
Edit: -1 account here

CCP Fallout, since there seems to be a little bit of rabblerabble brewing here, could you please confirm the following suspicion...
The removal of Ghost Training paves the way for a new feature in the next expansion: Skill Training Queue
Given a skill queue would be unbalanced in favor of people who like to do all of their long skill trains without paying for them, it does make some sense, whereas a random ninja-nerf does not.

Originally by: CCP Fallout A long overdue and much needed change will be put in place with the Wednesday, 15 October 2008 patch. Ghost Training, the continuous skill gain on accounts in an inactive or expired state - will no longer function after Wednesday, 15 October 2008. This practice upsets the balance of the game, and capsuleers who actively put their time and energy into working on their characters will no longer be unfairly affected by those few who have not.
We understand that this is a hot topic amongst players, and request that you discuss this necessary change without breaking the forum rules.

I don't post much but this definitly deserves something. I've got 4 accounts, with one generally cycled down every 3 months or so for a long skill train (30 days+), one is down now in fact. As of now I'm thinking about canceling one of the other three and taking it down to just 2. And with the inactives no longer training the will not be reactivated. Might make on an alt of the other account .. then the accounts will definitly not come back. Balance? Sure whatever.

BOOOOOOOOOO.
Already hard enough to pay 35 bucks for a 60 day GTC and now this? CCP, you are not Blizzard, so bring your prices down, and re-instate Ghost Training.

I've got 3 accounts. I (used to) sub them for a month and let a long skill train. This meant that I usually only had 1 or 2 accounts active at any one time. So I guess I've abused this system. Whats going to happen after this is that instead of CCP getting 3 60day subs over the course of 3-4 months, I'll be consolidating to 1 or 2 accounts. CCP will be getting less money out of me from this change.
My main point is CCP are fcking clueless these days. Why has this never been implemented in all the years of EVE? I remember Keiron and Oevuer seriously considering it, but something stopped them. How about, instead of giving a bullshit generic "unbalanced" explanation, give a straight talking explanation of why you are doing it. At the very least you'll earn what very little respect I still hold for CCP.

I wonder if this is a hint that skill queue's are coming soon. That to me would be the only good reason for this change.

Hey CCP, you tried to remove this in 2005 during the release of Dragon patch. People revolted, you backtracked.
Said it was only for EVE China since they pay-by-the-hour or some shit, and that it wouldn't come here. Yet, here we go again.
If you're going to do a money grab, then do it and be honest about it. Your rationale is just plain wrong.

Two days ought to be enough for anybody! much like 640k..
I think I just realized what this is - some MBA or a consulting company (McKinsey, etc) came in and made a powerpoint presentation on how much money CCP was leaving on the table with GTC's that cost the same as a subscription, unsubscribed training... guessing next thing on the chopping block is multiple characters per account.
Word of advice from someone who has been there and done that - these types of MBA's / Consultants never factor in customer satisfaction in their calculations, and while they work well for an essential utility (electric, phone (to some extent), etc) they don't work well at all for an economic luxury like what CCP provides, especially not in an economic climate like the one we have today.

Ive always considered EVE the working mans game. Unlike world of warcraft where u have to be a bum living at your parents playing 14 hours aday. There are alot of folks that love eve cause of this. when your to busy with your family or work, school, out of the country etc, you know your guy is still training a 50 day skill. Not everyone allows ccp to dip into their visa or mastercard everymonth.

A nice example where greed actually makes you loose money.
But, tbh, I am thankful, this will make it easier to quit the game for good. And reclaim my time that would have been spent on staring at a black login screen.
So, please do implement this much needed feature.
BTW, who wants my stuff? (only giving it to old rich chars, otherwise it might upset the game balance)

total thumbs down on this, even though I keep 2 accounts running, even with the ridiculous spike in GTC's since the change to 60's, just one more reason to shut down an account or quit EvE all together.

This is a terrible idea, I pay month by month one month at a time carefully making sure the longer skills go in between my payments. Taking breaks from the game helps reduce the zzz factor by a lot. now I have to play it constantly?
